Delta picks from SEALs and every other Special Forces group.

SEALs are too specialized and don't know what the fuck to do if something goes wrong in a mission if they haven't trained for it because they go straight from BUD/S to a SEAL Team. They don't have years of experience of actually doing general soldier-type shit.

Rangers are more operator than SEALs.

How does it feel? There's 16-17 year olds that are training their asses off doing swims, rucks and runs until they puke then going back at it again day in and day out. They have a burning ambition and a fucking drive to become SEALs.

They're going to graduate highschool, enlist in the Navy on the fast track to getting to NSW prep school, BUD/s then SQT then finally get the Trident. The kicker? They're going to do all of this before their 20th birthday. They will have more responsibility in their late teens then you will ever have in your life. They will grow and learn at an accelerated rate, doing memorable things and making the most out of their 20's and their military career while you save this pepe. Don't worry, I feel the same too.
>>30944783
Delta Selection, without a doubt. Not saying BUD/s is easy because it isn't. A more apt comparison would be DEVGRU selection vs Delta selection.
>>
>>30944766
I can only imagine candidate quality going down.
No fucking millennial is capable of operating.
"Yo senpai these SEALs guys are lit!"
>>
>>30944758
>Literally what the fuck is SQT?

I'm talking about they don't do multiple deployments and prove themselves before getting selected.

>Neither does someone who completes RASP in 8 weeks then deploys a week later

Okay, cool. I was talking about in comparison to Delta. Rangers tend to do more general infantry shit. How many SEALs have actually patrolled?

>And that 19 year old SEAL is more operator than you will ever hope to be.

No shit. I'm not trying to be operator.

>Quit talking out of your ass on things you know nothing about.

I base my opinion after my friends who have actually done shit. LRRP dude in particular.

His resume:
B Co/C Co, 3-325 AIR, 82nd Airborne
1-24 Infantry Scouts, 1st BDE 25th Infantry Division
F Co 52nd Infantry, LRS
1/506th Infantry Scouts, DMZ Korea
1/3 Infantry Regiment Scouts
B Co, 3rd US Inf

Based on his experiences with various operator-dudes, I'd rather have Rangers backing me up than SEALs.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. No actual experience, no deployments, and they get sent out to do operator shit. Probably why they keep ending up dead.

Oh well, I'll out-rank them anyways.

Well you called me out for not being operator, and I'm not. My opinion isn't based on my personal experiences with any SEALs or Delta, because I'm not an operator.

I'm friends with an operator with an impressive career in the military, who is extremely knowledgeable, and his opinion and argument behind it are what I base my opinion on.

Also Marcus Luttrell is a liar and Lone Survivor is bullshit. The reality of that situation shows why SEALs are less operator than even Rangers, and certainly Delta.

I remember reading recently about some random Delta op where the operator was put in a very bizzare situation where he had to wowrk undercover in some kind of theater or something, and was forced to write a whole play on the spot, in order to protect his cover. Ever since the cadre supposedly throws a curveball in the OTC to the recruits with similar bullshit tasks.

Apples to oranges. Any male in the Navy can get a shot at BUD/S, as long as he meets the minimum fitness requirements. Delta selection is by invitation only, and they only invite guys with extensive experience and excellent reputations, and even then it's a big maybe.
>>
>>30944804
>swims, rucks and runs until they puke
You'd be surprised. Alot of those kinds are only rucking 3~ miles at a time with 20 lbs rucks. I had a sf contract with the army. In the future soldiers program there were a couple other kids with the same and ranger contract that could barely bust out 50 push ups and had 16 minute 2 mile runs.

>One poor, disillusioned troop went on record as having lamented, “But…they sent me a letter. They sent me a letter.”
“You moron,” a Ranger leveled, “We all got fuckin’ letters.”

>As part of its recruiting effort, Delta sends recruiters to speak and show a hooah film to select groups of troops around U.S. military installations. They also screen records to determine eligibility for service with the unit in terms of rank, time in grade, time in service, record of conduct, etc. Those eligible would get a form letter inviting them to try out. Some poor slobs take it as an “in” and figure selection is just some annoying red tape they have to endure en route to their locker in a squadron team room.

Maybe if SEALS read more books their "tell-all true stories" wouldn't read like a half literate monkey wrote them. Because most of /k/ are innawoods loners that are pretend to be MACVSOG operators inna Kambodia. And Delta fits the bill of intellectual warriors that focus on deep recon and often look like "average" Joes, that most of /k/ likes to liken themselves with. While SEALS are more often than not everything that /k/ hates about normies. Popular, Tall, Handsome. They are Swimmers, Football Players, Lacrosse players. They are the Chads of the military and normal people drop their pants faster than you can say "$2 million book deal" when they hear that you are a retired or current SEAL. Depends on what you mean by harder. Most of buds is to eliminate quitters and people who are not comfortable in the water. Delta takes from people who are already established have a reputation and wants to test their maturity and ability to think on their feet when tired and under stress. Physicality is required but not the main qualification. Lots of strong guys show up and dont make it because of their maturity or professionalism.
>>
>>30957430
Delta's selection just simply seems awfully one-dimensional compared to any other SOF type selection. Sure, it's effective obviously but I'd rather take on 60 kilos of shit on my back and attempt to land nav than to be submited to getting comfy with being drowned against my will.
