Yeah, but the AK mags still need to be pinned to 5. Kodiak Defense has a few of these (sold as SKS-KD) that they've altered themselves, and the SKS-D was actually built to do this, though they usually run for about $500.

What are laws around wearing body Armour in public?

Not talking plate carrier. I am talking about some light kevlar that would stop common pistol calibers.

Heard that if you are convicted of a crime while wearing body Armour additional charges get added.
>>
>>30938288
I know there are charges specifically against wearing body armour while committing a crime, but I haven't actually heard of any against wearing body armour in itself. Although some provinces don't actually let you own it.
>>
>>30938338
which provinces do and which ones don't? I wouldn't spend money on it, but I can see an argument for it being considered a legitimate range safety equipment (even if only for the ultra-paranoid)
>>
>>30938500
>>In all Canadian provinces body armor that is not issued by the military (Levels I, II, IIa, III, IIIa) can be purchased without special license.
In all Canadian provinces except for British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta, it is legal to wear and to purchase body armor such as ballistic vests (this regulations applies only to ballistic vests above the NIJ level III). Nova Scotia has passed the legislation but is not yet in force. Under British Columbia's Body Armor Control Act, it is illegal to possess body armor without a license (unless exempted) issued by the provincial government.
Further, Bill C-349 in the House of Commons, proposes to create a separate offence for wearing body armor during or attempting the commission of an indictable offence. This bill reached First Reading but never became law, and has died on the order paper.

I have a level IIa vest from when I worked as a security guard, and I was forced to present my security license upon purchase. Maybe that's just a retailer thing?

Long time ago I did some reading on this, I can't find the sources anymore but I think I concluded that Ondurrrrio doesn't allow civilians to wear body armor in public.
>>
>>30938582
Welp
>>30938580
>>
>>30938288
it varies by province. in Alberta you need to have a PAL to purchase or own, in BC is it illegal to wear in public or to own or purchase, unless you are an armoured car driver or cop or in rodeo. the reasoning for it being illegal is gang members wear it in public and that scares people. i don't know the laws in other provinces, but they are easy to google
>>
>>30938580
alberta is ok if you have a PAL, that is your justified reasoning, in bc it needs to be related to your job. canadaarmour has lots of good choices. get yourself some level 4, just in case.

You are misinformed. The body armour laws are done provincially and only Alberta and one other count the pal as a valid reason. Bc doesn't count a pal as a reason to get body armour. Educate yourself, just google body armour Canada law. It is not federally regulated, it is provincially and in some cases by municipality

thats mostly something that comes up foir indoor ranges , the idea being that the iron core can spark once it hits the deflectors / backstop , and this spark could ignight the unburnt powder that accumulates alll over the floors and walls of an INdoor range.

>>
How do you guys deal with all the paper work that being a Canadian gun owner comes with? This is my binder, I have about 100 pages of everything gun related I have bought in the last 15 years.
Has anyone ever had to produce paperwork to authorities?
>>
>>30940646
I was using two differant ones, both look like they came from the same factory but are differant colours, one was stock with the gun one was from marstarr, tried two differant loads and same fail on both. Do you know a good mag for them?
>>
>>30940686
AIA 10 rounders are excellent but expensive.
Norinco ones are pretty much the worst but still mostly functional. Haven't tried any others but Springfield makes mags.
Promag makes a 20 rounder that may or may not work but holds 20 legal.
>>

>>
>>30940764
Why wouldn't you? I have like 30 guns, half are restricted, so I made a binder that holds every recipt gun related. Also if I ever wanted to sell something, I would like to know what I paid for it.
>>
>>30940802
Its more of a problem of finding them in stock, they sell very quickly.
Actually Wolverine has some but like I said expensive.
https://www.wolverinesupplies.com/ProductDetail/ELAAIAMAG_E-Lander-A1A-M10-Type--308-Magazine--10-Round
1 for 75 // 5 for 275
Its pretty much the going price and they are worth it IMO.
>>
>>30940764
U know if you get into a position where you have a gun and are legal, the pigs can still make you prove ownership, or they can take it to the station until you produce a recipt. I'm not sure if that is law, but it happens. Buy a binder and put every piece of mail you get from the Feds into it. There is no downside to keeping detailed records.
>>
>>30940828
Seems way overboard to me, if you want to keep a few receipts I guess that's fine but 100 pages is autistic
>>
>>30940861
I love wolverine, they have takin a lot of my money and I have nothing but praise for them. Thanks, I will invest in some quality mags.
>>
>>30940910
Ok, well maybe you dontt have as many guns as me then. Lots of those are att for differant provinces, restricted certificates, receipts for guns or gun parts or ammo. Transfer notifications. Basically anything gun related goes into the binder. That's being smart, maybe a little autis, nut cam only help.
Years ago, when we had the lgr, I kept everything in a Hanna Montana ziplock bag. Now I have improved my filing system
>>
>>30939942
Funnily enough, stocks don't really matter to distinguish between rifles and handguns, but you better keep the OAL for the minimum fireable configuration for the limit or you dun got a prohib if it's FaRT# is for a rifle.

what is the cheapest gun store in Canada to buy a gun from?

is Cabela's good?
>>
>>30941259
Nope. The .380 version was imported both as a rifle and as a pistol. It's more or less whatever the importer or manufacturer says it is. We don't really have a legal definition of the differences, and the RCMP can ultimately overrule the importer on the decision (hence no VZ58 "pistols" despite people trying to import them as such), but we can still call things a pistol and throw stocks on them. The difference mostly comes from the minimum required OAL length requirements for rifles.

While I generally agree that more people should practice proper trigger discipline, we honestly have no way of knowing if the muzzle is even pointed at a safe direction.

That's probably more important than trigger discipline, but no one ever pays any mind to that unless it's very blatantly unsafe.
>>
>>30941410
.22 isn't good for hunting much bigger than squirrel, it's better for practising. If you want something super cheap that you can potentially hunt with, an SKS would be a better choice, and even that would only really be good for deer. Hunting is usually better done with something like a .308 or .30-06, despite the ammo cost. Having fun is better done with .22, 5.56, and 7.62x39.
>>
>>30941601
>Hunting is usually better done with something like a .308 or .30-06
And between those two, many hunters seem to prefer the .308 over the .30-06. I've read countless articles explaining why .308 is better than .30-06, but I can't be arsed to actually look 'em up again.

.308 is generally cheaper, more available, and has similar factory loads to comparable .30-06 rounds. The real difference comes up if you handload .30-06 because you have a much higher max pressure that you can load to, if you can find appropriate measurements online and your action can hold it.

Savage Axis or Norchinko M305 (M14 clone). The Axis would probably be better for hunting. Just throw a scope mount and some decent glass on it.

Make sure your photo meets their requirements
Make sure your references aren't idiots
If you've said "Yes" to any part of Section C in the application, make sure you've included additional notes & documentation to convince the RCMP that you're fit to handle firearms
If you have any current or former conjugal partners, make sure they're not cunts
If paying by credit card, make sure it's actually a standard credit card. Not a Debit Visa, not a MasterCard gift card, but an actual credit card.

When I have the green sides plugged, my .308 is only a little louder than speaking volume. Really effective stuff.

There are a lot of differences between bolt and semi auto, one isn't necessarily better than the other. What exactly are the benefits of electronic sound dampers?
>>

Buy good ear protection is what I mean. Your ears are not replaceable. Protect them buddy. I have senpai that is deaf and it is a shitty life. Take care of your ears, don't shoot, weed whack, chainsaw or anything without ear muffs. Take care of your ears, you don't get new ones.
>>
>>30943415
You're absolutely right. I lost some sensitivity in my right ear when I was a dumb-as-bricks teenager going to punk concerts, and I'm really trying hard to preserve what remains. yeah, usually putting optic on it is the easiest way not to deal with it from what I understand. was just curious because it's apparently a common issue, I've seen plenty of pictures (alone the lines of picrelated), but at the same time, doesn't seem to interfere with function, I'm sure it's fine

Thinking about becoming a Helicopter Pilot in the Canadian Navy or Airforce.

What branches does helicopter Pilot offer?
-Attack chopper?
-Door gunner?
-Troop transport?

I have no flying experience (other then Arma, Driver Advance!)

Also.. I know my body would hold out through Basic training but I got this shitty nerve disease were I can pinch a nerve in my joint very easily (from banging elbow or sleeping on arm) which can lead to me losing muscle control in say my bicep for weeks at a time. Hence why choosing this supporting role. This is not something I would be telling my recruiter, if it showed up on my medical record I would probably also downplay it.

Tell me what you think I should know
>>
>>30947417
i'd go with an sks or svt 40 before i bought one of those m305s. too many reports of bolts breaking and inaccuracy for me to be comfortable with the rifle.

plus what are you on with the larger dbms? they both hold 5 rounds. if you're going to unpin the mags in your trunk gun you might as well go full retard and do it with an ar15. i'd prefer an internal magazine over pinned dbms. carry more ammo in clips and take up less space than you would packing a bunch of pinned m305 mags into your kit.

i won't deny the A E S T H E T I C S of the m305 though, it definitely looks cool.

did you ever think about a pump shotgun or a lever action carbine for your trunk gun?

The following can all use 5.56 15 round beo magazines (or if 7.62x39 10 round XCR-M pistol magazines)
Semi-Auto
Type 97 5.56
Su16 5.56
vz58 5.56 or 7.62x39 (both models need a magwell adapter, rifle plus upgrade is still in your price range.)
M305 7.62x51 with 10round AIA mags(Also 20round AA promags, tried them they don't work in my rifle)

Manual
Mossberg MVP 5.56
Troy PAR 5.56 (With other 5.56 based conversions)
Mausers 98 models in 8mm + trench magazine (20 rounds, also hard to find the magazines)
AIA enfield 7.62x51 (hard to find rifle)
>>

Either a VZ 58 in 223 with an AR nag adapter or a Type 97. I asked myself the same question and decided I preferred Czechnology to Chinkshit.
>>

Seems like a flat top T97 will be coming my way in the future. I've seen a video of someone testing out the beowulf mags in the T97 and it didn't fit, are there two types of beowulf mags?

well, did he ADVERTISE the range kit he was selling as brand new or as having a holster? did he list it among the things included (mags, case, etc.) did you see a holster in the pictures?

you can't really report him if he sold you what he said he would sell, simply because you didn't pay attention to what he was selling and assumed you are getting what normally comes in the box instead of double checking for yourself.

>used market: not even once
>>
>>30949240
There are a bunch of types, plus the magwells seem to differ from gun to gun.
AA Magazines - The original, Aluminium, hard to find, cost the most.
CProducts - Way cheaper version of the AA, Aluminium, epoxied together instead of spot welded.
PCV - Usually the cheapest, polymer, widely available.
G1 - Not sure if these are available right now I think it was IMI made brought in by CanAm, Polymer.

There are others probably the original AA are $80 most of the other ones are $40-50 depends on where you buy.
>>
>>30949275

He posted pics of it without the holster. Didn't advertise that there was one missing. Didn't check online stores to see if it came with everything. My fault.

I've had prior good experiences with EE and it's just a holster which here in Canada isn't exactly something that is used extensively. It's just that I need to sell the gun unfired but now without a holster.

Nope screw not legal. Must be permanently fixed.
It can be with a welded block, a rivit or on tapco mags a removable block, but you need to drill a hole in the bottom of the mag to disassemble it.

What's the difference with the Vz58 and CZ/CSA858
>>
>>30950995
CZ 858's are built using original military parts, on converted receivers.

CSA's are newly manufactured parts and receivers.
>>
>>30951021
what does that mean in terms of reliability, accuracy, etc
>>
Would the trunk of a car be considered good enough for storage?
>>
>>30950992
I have seen this post and picture before, I'm not familiar with garands, could you please tell me what is wrong with the pic, I asume it is the ground down weld, but why is that picture worthy?
>>
>>30951029
Not much. CSA had some issues with oversized gas ports on early batches of their vz58's (both .223 and x39) but I believe they've been ironed out for a few years. I prefer the blued finish of the vz58 to the oven enamel finish of the 858 but that's just nitpicking.
>>
>>30951052
Because the head spacing on all of the rifles was out. Instead of doing the work properly, they welded onto the lugs (which is a huge fucking no-no) then ground them.

Bolts are forged and heat-treated. Lugs are what keep your bolt in the rifle when the round is fired. With welding and grinding done to the lugs, it makes them significantly weaker.
>>
>>30948950
In my opinion, I'd choose the SKS.
>Clips weigh less, just stuff your pockets with 'em
>Utterly rugged and dependable
>7.62x39 is common and inexpensive, and while not ideal, will let you bag something like a deer
>Enormous aftermarket
>Dremel dat pin off the follower for 10rds, more than enough when SHTF (since who cares about the law when it's time to flee innawoods)
The M305, in return, offers no advantage, really. However, if it isn't a "SHTF/Bug Out gun", then it'd do just fine.
>>
>>30951073
Thanks!
Why would the headspace have been out to begin with? Is that from wear and tear, or would they have been manufactured out of spec?
>>
>>30951104
These were supposedly Italian-made 7.62x51/.308 conversions done in the late 50's. What I've heard, is instead of having legit 7.62 barrels, commercial 30-06 barrels with a bit of the chamber cut off were used instead. They didnt index properly so the bolt lugs were welded and ground. They don't even engage fully.

It's very likely that shooting a few full power loads could blow the bolt out of the back of the gun.
>>
>>30951199
So this constitutes fraud then?
I read his listing for them on his site a minuets ago. These are being sold as milsurp, not remanufactured
>>
>>30951297
>These are being sold as milsurp, not remanufactured
That's the big issue. People are getting something other than what they paid for.
There's even one post in the CGN thread of a guy saying he spent the extra $100 to get a single tone wood color and it's HORRIBLY different.
Marstar just doesn't give a shit on this one.

What do you guys think of these Henry lever action .22 rifles? 16+1 lever sounds like it could be fun.
>>
>>30951021
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the last batch of Vz. 58's came in not built on converted recievers? Isn't that what caused the RCMP's 858 reclassification shitstorm in the first place? I understand the old ones were put back to NR, but I had thought the new imports needed to be new manufacture.

Depends on the gun. It should suffice, and many people here have "trunk guns".

Restricted, not fine.
>>

I have looked, I got the grip and stock from dlask, they were the only one in Canada selling, expect from private sellers. I still haven't found a wood foregrip in Canada. >>
>>30952147

>>
>>30952321
I kinda get the feeling that the RCMP could fuck me over for only having trunk gun(s). I really just want an SKS to call my own.
>>
>>30952469
Do you live in La Belle Province? No? Then you don't have to register an SKS, and so it'll be none of their concern, unless you choose to commit a crime with it. Buy your SKS, some ammo, and some cleaning supplies, and store it innatrunk. It's legal, and perfectly acceptable.
>>
>>30952675
Ontario, what's the punishment for improper storage?
>>
>>30951052
Head spacing was fucked beyond belief, and the Garand relies a lot on surface hardness, with the interior portions of the metal being significantly softer. Any exposed metal from the interior of a part is a serious weak point. On top of that, many of the locking lugs are seriously close to shearing at any given time.
>>
>>30952848
If it's in the trunk and unloaded it's stored properly.
>>
>>30948035
>>30950735
M&P are super popular pistols here, it is no problem to find a holster.
For example amazon Canada has the same kind of basic holster you would get with one of these range kits.
Personally I would get a better holster or look for the same one for cheaper. Bet you could find one easy for 35.
https://www.amazon.ca/IMI-Defense-Z1120-Polymer-Holster/dp/B00P7SE4JI/ref=sr_1_24?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1470967517&sr=1-24&keywords=smith+and+wesson+m%26p

>>30951041
For non restricted yes. Restricted fuck no. Make sure the rifle is out of sight and if other people have access to the vehicle better trigger lock just in case.
>>
>>30952942

I'll just take the 50$ loss when selling. A real replacement holster is like 80$.
