M43 jacket Edition
Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/3Myx1ubW
hello, I am Australian and one of our iconic brands is drizabone and drovers coats/dusters for the bush are still used as they suit the climate, however they're extremely expensive
something similar for a rain cover is the plash palatka which is essentially a heavy cotton tarp embedded with wax, does anyone have any thoughts about them?
>tfw no militaria-friendly gf
>>30932763
>>30932624
Really depends how many Aussie dollars did you spend on it?
My first telnyashka has acquired that raggedly, holey look that comes with years of being worn. I'm quite pleased, but it does mean I should probably buy some more for everyday wear.
>>30934803
Gib Karst
>>30935377
Nice.
>>30935417
Holy fuck the more I see it the more existed I get. Any update on shipping?
>>30935530
*excited
>>30935530
It's either sat in an OUT tray or it;s left Serbia and is..somewhere. Hard to tell as the translation on their tracking isn't perfect.
Trench's mission, should he chose to accept it, is to post the pics to IAMC to cause maximum jelly.
>>30935586
I really want some karst, how much did you charge when you made those few models anyways?
>>30935608
They came out as about £150 per parka, cost. I promised below $200 so some went for slightly less, everyone else paid £175 as I recall.
>>30935623
Do you plan on making more?
>>30935646
Nope. I'm struggling to find the motivation to even do the other patterns lined up. to be fair though the guy who was going to lend me the Zaire leopard jacket hasn't come back yet, and SpookGook still hasn't sent me the LATPAT file.
>>30935669
Oh alright, i would've liked to buy one of those parkas since I can afford fancier surp now
>>30935696
I'm afraid not. The demand is there I can't deny, but one of the selling points was the exclusivity. KarstKlub™
>>30933976
>tfw
Anyways, expecting this today.
>>30935757
What cut are you going to make w/ the latpat (woodland)?
>>30935953
I'll copy the S2000 uniform. It;s a loose fit which is to my tastes, and it only requires buttons. No zips or velcro.
>dude on eBay selling Kampfgruppen female jacket for 99.00 USD
>while Varusteleka has the exact same thing for 4.99 EUR
>>30935980
Thats a good cut, seems a good size for a normal human beanis.
Are you going to try pants or just stick to the shirts? I know most of us that would be buying are normal sized people, but I'd imagine height (and inseam) vary quite a bit. Unless you go quite long and everyone just hems them to fit.
>I'd kill for a LATPAT woodland m-65.
>>30936064
We discussed waist sizes once, I think 34-36" emerged as the best option, since skinny people can belt, but larger people can't stretch it.
M-65 jackets are more complex than they look, which increases work costs.
>>30933976
not just being cute yourself and wearing them yourself
sell it to me so I can be cute
>>30936106
I'm no Bane, but they don't even come close to fitting me.
Also, why the fvck would I give 'em up? East German female uniforms (regardless of service) are WAY more collectable than male ones because there aren't as many of them.
>>30936154
so I can wear them duh
>>30936161
>implygin tht grills visit the milsurp threads
Not now, not ever. The closest we'll ever have is Tenly.
This is actually the thread I meant to post this in and not GQ:
What are acceptable pants camos/colors to be worn with a night desert parka?
Chocolate chip or tiger stripe? Or solid color?
>>30936352
Reeeeeeee
>>30936352
who said I was a girl?
im just cute enough to get away with it
>>30936391
I always felt strichtarn and night desert were a very good match.
>>30936449
But it;s a trick question, night desert on night desert is the only acceptable answer.
>>30936449
That doesn't look bad at all together
>>30936467
Anyway, if you look at pictures they tended to be worn with the trousers omitted.
>>30936449
I'm 6'2'' and I ordered a g48 sized East German strichtarn jacket. You think that's a good fit?
>>30936527
Ha. Unlikely.
>>30936527
Uhhh, NVA sizes are vague and mysterious to me. You got a medium reg according to the charts.

Had it a good three weeks now and used it pretty much daily so far. Build quality seems to be good. Zippers, velcro and stitching is all very well done. Cut is a little short to wear it as a jacket imo, but as a midlayer it's good.
Also; yes, the tapered splinter/nightsplinter BDU's are miltec.

A nickname for the K31 was "ruck zuck" (back forward) due to the straight pull action. Usually the butts of the guns are dirty and beat to hell because the Swiss troops used them to clear ground to set up camp, stir fires, etc. It's also kinda onomatopoeia.
>>30939542
because you have deep seated sexual desire for young men.
>>30939554
Ah. Yes it came that way. The stock is not really chewed up, but the finish is worn down.
>>30939599
Have you taken the butt plate off yet? Often the ID card of the original rifleman is inside.
>>30939624
Yup, it's got one.
Got a PBF mask in the mail recently. What milsurp full body suits/jumpsuits/coveralls would go well with it? Preferably something with a hood. Going for kind of a Chernobyl cleanup crew feel. What would a soldier in an Eastern Bloc country on a chemical/toxin/radioactive cleanup crew realistically wear with such a mask? Might just get a shitty gorka suit to go for that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. look if I can't find anything that I could realistically acquire.
>>30939695
>What would a soldier in an Eastern Bloc country on a chemical/toxin/radioactive cleanup crew realistically wear
They wouldn't wear that mask. They'd probably be wearing a rebreather, like either the IP-4 or IP-5.
>>30939945
I'm not really super autistic about historical accuracy or anything. I just want something that would achieve that look. What is some slavshit stuff that would go well with it?
So I've been playing R6 recently and I've taken a liking to how one of the operators look like and am attempting to recreate it.
Vest, holster and belt are easy enough to acquire. But one thing that's been bugging me though is that I don't know what type of jacket and pants he is wearing is called. I've seen special forces wearing those pants with the Velcro supports but I have no idea what they're called either. Anyone have any idea?
Posted this both here and in /vg/

>>30941661
Commendable? More like insurance for the future. I'll be in my late 60s when Vietnam hits 100, and i'll have piles of surp that i could sell off for hundreds or thousands of dollars. Assuming clinton doesnt get elected, because if she does she'll probably make it illegal to collect surp and make everyone burn what they have.
Just bought some CADPAT AR and will probably be for sale soon.
Considering the cadpat tw sold for $106 this is gonna be a nice score.
>>30941661
Real Vietnam era surplus can't even be found in surplus stores anymore. The only shit you're bound to find are some lame mid 70's dated M65 jackets or 1980's jungle boots.
>>30941661

This. My local surp shop has m56 pouches for 3.99 but those are for m14 magazines.
Might wanna get an SSh68 and M56 soon, as well as a full set of NVA webbing.
>>30942033
If your surp shop has actual real M56 pouches for four bucks that is a goddamn steal. And M56 pouches weren't meant just for M14 magazines, they were universal ammo pouches that were designed at the cusp of the adoption of the M14 so the army tried to future proof by designing a magazine pouch that could hold ammo for all the current rifles in production for infantry. Meaning that it can hold BAR magazines, en bloc clips, carbine magazines, and the, brand new at the time, M14 magazines. Of course they didn't think of how quickly the M14 would be fazed out for the M16 and so the pouches were much too large for the small 20rnd M16 magazines, but a "short" version of the M56 pouch was developed and issued which worked pretty well just for the 20rnd M16 magazines.
>>30942158
M-56 magpouches fit 20 round M16 magaines nicely, but honestly the cancas is so damn heavy. Especially when wet.

Interesting that it has the clamp on chinstraps. Can you find a heat stamp anywhere inside it?
>>30942809
Wht a steal, does it have a liner?
>>30942777
>mom, someone posted military surplus in a military surplus thread, MAKE HIM STAHP
So how do I spot a repro sumpfmuster parka, pretty sure I can get one in mint condition, with liner for $50 at a local shop. Just need to know if it's a repro or not.
>>30942838
for the verification!
>>30942872
Did you read the fucking post?
Nobody wants to see some Pattern 78 assault harness worn by some do- nothing anglo cuckolds when there's a fucking image limit.
He wasted 4 images that could have been used for actually interesting items like that czech pattern or that russian one.
>>30942910
And you're adding to the bump limit with your nonsensical rambling about someone posting on the topic. Fuck off.
>>30942784
Holy shit that's more malfunctions than my AK was having the other day after I realized the recoil spring was bent 30 degrees
wow where did all these white knights cone from? Do you really think he'll send you something from his collection for defending him on the internet?
>>30942935
You can make posts after the bump limit, but you can't post images after the image limit.
Besides, telling cancer to fuck off so we can get back to posting neat items, what this thread really is for, is far better than the alternative, letting him continue consuming resources.
>>30942910
Telny posts constant picture of himself wearing common uniforms, and he does it in every thread, multiple times. Go off on him for not posting anything new, or post your own shit. Either way you arent helping, and if i was a newfag i would be discouraged from coming to these threads with assholes like you who contantly rag on other people with different tastes. (((ThatGuy)))
>>30942967

Can't find a stamp. But the liner is dated 70 so it was probably used in nam.
>>30943028
You'd love the South African niemoller vest then.
>>30943024
It's easily tangled.
The whole thing is made of lighter canvas than the earlier Pattern 37 stuff. It's a good design and light and comfortable when you put it on, but I can see why so few of it survived since it was used in the jungles.
>>30943052
Im saying to let people come here on their own, let them involve themselves into this hobby and contribute to threads. What the fuck are you on about? You want to see the same shit posted again and again? Take your meds, buddy.
>>30943189
I want people that can integrate into the community, not act like faggots trying to subvert it.

>>30943137
For that time period it was pretty nice to not have standard heavy webbing, especially when you are constantly getting wet.
To be fair, the jungles aren't really kind to any material, particularly canvas.

Me too, but in order for that to happen you have to be less of a faggot cunt yourself.

Too bad they closed. It's ALICE gear I actually wouldn't mind buying since it has no US stamp.

>>30937352
Whats that jacket? Also, recommend me some surplus sweaters that don't look like surplus. I like sweaters but most look fucking retarded
>>30944306
It's actually an arktis hot climate shirt.
>>30944306
As far as sweaters go, I kinda like the British wooly pully look. The only one I've seen that looked pretty good AND was surplus would be a Norwegian coma sweater.
>>30944959
>I kinda like the British wooly pully look
Just like most of the globe. Pretty much every military has their own version of the classic "commando sweater".
>>30944979
I shoulda kept mine from cadets. I've always been meaning to get one of those submariner sweater though, since that's what I wanted to do in the Navy.
Incidently, the norgie ones are pretty cheap, but you mainly have to buy them from Norway itself:

>>30945211
I never noticed before, are you wearing another Dispersion pattern? I can't tell if it's lighting or really subtle.
>>30945226
It;s very subtle, their catalog pic suggests it;s more pronounced than it actually is: >>30944940
>>30945234
Maybe after a wash or two it'll lighten up, they may have whitewashed the picture as well.
Looks like a good police/security pattern.
>>30945252
Probably the intention behind it. I've actually worn the set out and about with that blue cap I have, because it looks enough like a work uniform to get away with it.
>>30945263
I do like the urban/greyscale patterns for security, like the reactor and power plant guards and such.
>>30945291
I just like urban patterns.

Rhodesian shit is easy to find, it should be in collector tier.
French CE, Norwegian M75 etc is bargain bitch tier.
No, this is totally shit.
Why not get a real collector to make a ranking?
>>30946811
M75 isn't super common. But not rare by any means.
>>30943520
What should I look for? Miltec stamps or whatever? I might just buy it anyway because even a repro is probably worth more than $50
>>30947104
If it looks brand new, it's a repro. If the colors and pattern look odd, it's a repro. If the red spots are super bright, it's a repro. If it has miltec tags and no stamps, the liner may be original with a repro shell.
>>30945368
Eh?

For whatever reason, women like men in sweaters that hug the body. Which is why I keep wearing them.. They just don't like how wool feels "scratchy."
Have I mentioned it would be perfect if spring and fall gave summer a miss every year?
>>30947532
Army surplus shit, manily coats and jackets.
>>30947536
Thanks
>>30947512
Shame, it's in my local Tesco both north and south.
Telny, I... I just realized I don't have enough fabric for the pockets. Should I use some other cloth (i.e. MicroKarst), or simply make it pocketless?
>>30947876
I would kill to have a suit made with a microkarst liner.
>I beg you, tell us what you're working on!!
>>30947876
Might look a bit slapdash, no chance of getting more of it then?
>>30942394
I guess the olkd grey webbing? Or the "newer" UTV? Btw, if youre in europe theres a cheap site for UTV gear

it's the Navy sweater
>>30948083
Well I'd rather have the flat colour, but the loss of pockets is a shame. Black material maybe..?
>>30948305
Sounds like a plan.
Maybe I could also give it black epaulettes (and possibly some edging here and there) to make the pockets look less out of place?
>>30948575
Say, have the MOLLE pieces been done, doing them in black might work. No epaulettes please.
>>30948830
Good idea.
I made a few trial strips, but nothing's been attached yet.
>>30945367
fucking white boy
I got me some Brit MTP, apologise in advance for the absolute potato quality y'all are able to witness
>pic
I got a couple pairs of trousers, nothing remarkable, spacious pockets. Somewhat decent and lacking in the copious amounts of Velcro plaguing the rest of the uniform
Next up! The shirt. Nice over all, though a lot of unnecessary Velcro, the arm patches are nice, but there is a lot running down the centre which is just unnesecary
And now! The jacket! I quite like this thing actually, despite the Velcro, it's spacious, good pockets (Felt lined even!) and warm, There's a wire inside the lining of the hood so you can mould it when it's down, for parade purposes and the like I imagine, pretty comfy, spacious etc. It's good for going out with
>>30949323
Noice. MTP is pretty great.
Again, dog-shit quality for which I apologise for, I quite like the MTP pattern actually, it blends pretty well and while I think the old Woodland camo was better in good old bong land this stuff is still pretty effective, not very good with moisture though, the trousers will get soaked and stay soaked if you're not careful. Would recommend out of 10. (I did pick up like, three sets of this stuff for free so obviously I'd recommend)
>>30949373
Brit smocks are the best
There is flame resistant MTP out there too, if you can find it, and older Soldier 95 MTP uniforms before the PCS uniforms.
>>30949358
I prefer the UBACS over the basic shirt.
>>30949391
Pretty invisible in dryer grassy areas
>>30948922
I'd say that'd work.
>>30949494
Still kinda weird we picked it, considering.
>>30949494
Yup
>RIP image limit
>>30949486
Fecking this. One has to wonder why armies even bother issuing "summer jackets" now that UBACS are a thing...
