Chicom rigs are fantastic for the price. Are there better ones out there? yes. Can you get a better one for south of about $70? probably not.

I've used Chinese milsurp before and I'll be the first to tell you that I've had some extremely bad experiences with them practically disintegrating in my hands. But Chicoms are absolutely great. I own an SKS rig and it is incredibly solid and rugged. I've heard the AK rigs are the same quality as the SKS ones but obviously meant for AK mags.

MOLLE loops and then I put a little wrap of black duct tape on either side as DIY belt keepers. Suprisingly secure. My main belt is a duty belt, meaning it is thicker and stiffer, which makes the pouches sit better. Though even that belt is relatively light compared to many. As you can see I've tried to keep it KISS in terms of what's on there.

That is a sectioned up cleaning rod. Useful to keep with the rifle in case of a major malfunction that requires a rod. I have practiced assembling it and clearing simulated bore overrides and stuck cases, and can go from noticing the malfunction to being up and running in 45 seconds with it.

The cleaning rod also combines with my cleaning kit, which I keep on my chest rig. This means that when I have my rifle centeric gear, I also have provisions to keep it maintained.

Don't buy books until you actually go to class and get a feel for it. I spent $200 on unnecessary books my freshmen year. When you do buy books, try to find them online first.

If you aren't joining a sports team join a club, any club.

Make sure to be friendly with professors in your major classes, even if they're dicks. I got my internship this past summer thanks to one of my professors.

The guys who give out parking citations are dicks. They patrol the parking lots religiously and will fuck you as much as they can.

That's all I've got, really. Just try to keep everything in perspective and try not to get too fucked up your freshmen year. It killed my GPA and now I'm struggling just to try and graduate with a 3.0.

Thick enough MIL-A46100 will stop a 120mm APDS round.

An amount a sane person would wish to carry would resist pistol and shotgun rounds very effectively, defeat many 7.62x34mm rounds and 5.56mm rounds.

It's a trade-off. More weight them boron carbide and worse performance vs many rounds, but lower cost and better multi-hit performance.

If it's my vital organs on the line, I'd use boron carbide.

Can't speak for how they interact with each other and other frats, but the handful that I know directly are pretty good guys.

Rotc is fiercely competitive these days. If you're a white male, you gotta keep your nose clean, 3.5 gpa minimum, 300 apft, and suck a whole lot of dick for OML points. And that's for a contract. 80% of my class got cut in our second year. so we woke up at 5:00 am four days a week to do the lamest PT ever, took shitty classes, sat through half the bullshit real military went through and zero of the cool shit. for two years, We were training aids for the 80% that did make it through, and then discarded. The only benefit I got from rotc was I got good at land navigation.

Dont do that to yourself. Focus on your studies, do real individual exercise to get fit way better than army prt could ever get you, and have fucking fun in college.

55 grain 5.56 is as light as you can go for somewhat effective rifle rounds I know its only 7 grains but that stuff adds up quick when you have 300 rounds. 55 grain ammo is 16500 grains with 300 pounds roughly 2.35 lbs vs 62 grain ammo being 18600 grains or 2.65 lbs so you save roughly 1/3rd a pound just from switching to a lighter round then you can lighten you magazine as a whole to the lowest possible magazine being a lancer awm at the moment.Then factor in the magazine pouch weight. The less magazine pouches you have for the same amount of ammo the more weight up to several pounds in bulk nylon can be saved. Why I use 40 rd pmags 3 40rd pmags equals 4 30 rd pmags so less weigh in having one less magazine and having a smaller simpler pouch. But getting more rounds in the same space is some real kraut space magic.

KT Mechanical makes some good shit. The Defender series is probably what you're looking for.

They come with clips that you can slip a belt through, and then they also sell MOLLE style clips you can use to stick it on a battle belt.

It's how I use mine. Their quality is super good and the lead time isn't too bad.

The original otv DAPS was used for against knives and fragmentation and 9mm. Shoulder armor is just starting to mature with rifle plate options you can use with the shoulder carriers you circled. flexable rifle rated shoulders can be quite pricy I bealive it was 600 for a set prices may vary but the point is to reduce angled/side shots at close quarters hitting your side by passing your front plates and killing you out right since all your organs are open season on your sides. side plates only cover the lower portion and can only cover so much without effecting mobility. I have a Condor MOPC in black. It's pretty sturdy. The drag handle could be a LOT stronger, but it hasn't broken on me yet. It feels like it would break if actually needed in combat. The admin pouch on the front is sturdy, but the plastic hooks and loops are IMMENSELY strong. I tore about 0.5" of stitching out of the top right corner of the pouch just opening it. It doesn't show much and doesn't affect performance.

It's comfortable, adjustable, and has pockets for side plates. I'm not going to mount a whole bunch of bullshit on the front, just a KABAR and a dump bag for loose revolver ammo. Admin pouch holds map, pen, keys, rite in the rain, etc.

Probably the best sub-$100 carrier.

Maybe a single mag on a belt but really you are unlikely to expend that much ammo without a chance to replenish from a pack, buddy or fixed location. Plenty of guys run 3+1 or 4+1. If I were you I would get a 3 or 4 mag setup on the front of your carrier then move pistol pouches and pistol onto your belt
