At 5:30 it looks like the security team led by the glasses guy is about to disengage and re-mount the convoy. Its already clear since there were fireworks with the other team engaging the enemy vehicle that they weren't fucking around.

Glasses guy makes eye contact with someone in the vehicle and shakes his head, almost indicating that if they are willing to stay in the car, he is willing to let them live.

Is this a common practice? Was the glasses guy ever identified as a member of US Law Enforcement? Was he a contractor? DOD? CIA?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CQfQNJ-65U
>>
>>30924320
Rules of engagement. They even talked about it before they got out of the car.
>>
No. An acutal black OPs shooter conducting an illegal international operation would have opened fire on anyone he was even remotely suspicious of long before any "Can we engage? What are the rules here?" Comms. You do understand that even though they are they good guys, they are literally war criminals on many missions right? It is in their nations best interest to insure no witnesses.

>inb4 im edgy
>inb4 cawadoody
Read some actual books written by black OPs guys. They do some real gnarly shit you wont see on the silver screen.

I don't understand.

They were following rules of engagement that said if they stayed in the car they wouldn't be shot at?

Isn't the space between 2 international borders considered an international zone meaning no law (technically).

Couldn't they just slaughter both cars and just leave?

What they were doing was illegal? I thought the Mexican government set up the swap, why didn't the mexican army come with them over the border and then turn around in the USA?
>>
>>30924320

I think glasses guy was supposed to be some kind of contractor, he never IDed as a government employee or soldier but it's pretty obvious by the way he carried himself and the respect he was given by the team members (including the more shadowy characters) he was not the guy to fuck with.

>>30924355

>>
>>30924435

I don't think the DEA trains people to be hit squad material but whatevs.

pic related its a DEA fast team from Afganistan

these guys were inbed with a ranger company and ran around checking for drug stores

I heard they were a huge liability on the rangers due to the large disparity in there training
>>
>>30924320
That was the first time I've seen that scene.

It was pretty fucking cool. Is the rest of the movie like this?
>>
>>30924470
Who said anything about a hit squad? He's DEA attached to a multiagency task force. What part about that are you having trouble with?
>>
>>30924483

Its not a TON of hurr-durr muh action sequence, but it does have quite a few operating scenes. There's also a bunch of machinations and other behind-the-scenes stuff. Very intense. Highly recommend it.
>>
>>30924483
No. Its not.
>>
I just wanted to remind everyone that the events of this scene happen in-between one of the largest and heavily populated international zones. (USA-MEXICO)

Technically speaking they weren't operating under the authority of any flag and were transporting a detainee.

So like, open fire I guess.

At the end when they are talking to the main character and the only way for the military to operate on U.S soil is if they are attached to a domestic agency under an "advisory role". When she realized they were just using her to go scorched earth on the cartel.

Delta has supposedly been "advisors" on U.S soil before. During the 1996 attacks at the Olympics in Atlanta according to Haney's "Inside Delta Force"

that still doesn't explain how they magically knew which car happened to be full of cartel guys and just beelined for it through traffic

none of them had any weapons showing or were acting strangely in the car before the MUH BLACK OPS OPER8ORZ got out waving rifles around and it was never stated that they had any intel on cars that had been tailing them or are known to be owned by cartel people or whatever

they literally just shook down a random car and got lucky, and then do similar shit several other times throughout the movie

it's hard to see them as EXPERT ELITE OPER8OR UNITZ when they literally just keep getting lucky and have no clear rhyme or reason to their "investigation"

>>30925620
>if the mexicans didn't try to get out of the car what would have happened?
the movie would have been a lot dumber as they'd light up the car and expect the viewer to just go "hmm. seems legit. they killed the bad guys :)"

remember dudes, this isn't a documentary, it's a dramatic action-thriller movie about a woman who can't stop crying when she gets near guns despite being an ex-FBI SWAT spook

Note how they werent overly suspicious of all the other cars on the road with them? Profiling works Paco.

>>30924320

The point of that scene is that it's shady as fuck and a grey area. You can't really tell if it's provocation and murder and was planned or if it's just overreacting or self defence. The whole movie was about how American law enforcement/contractors are just as criminal and bloodthirsty as Mexican gangs.
>>
>>30926733
Yes and no. Expanding ammunition is prohibited by the Hague Convention when used in 'offensive weapons'. So it's 'banned' when two signatories (which the USA is not) engage in conventional (i.e. declared) warfare. The USA just plays ball because of NATO standardization and so as to avoid Europe throwing a hissy fit.
>>
>>30927522
It looked pretty justified to me hombre. Unless in Mexico the headshake means 'Come try to kill me' instead of 'Lets just not'.
>>
>>30924320
>Was the glasses guy ever identified as a member of US Law Enforcement? Was he a contractor? DOD? CIA?

It was a fucking movie. Not real. Shitty movie at that. Kill yourself.
>>
>>30927554

Or it could be a tactic. "Calm down and you'll live", but really they would have got shot regardless. Maybe. Possibly. That's just how I felt about it, and maybe that's what the Mexican dudes in the car thought too. In that kind of situation everything happens very fast. Just my two cents.
>>
>>30926733
>>30927539
Exactly. Using an expanding bullet in a war between two nations, BOTH of which have acceded formally to the Hague Convention of 1899 (NOT the other Hague Conventions of 1907,) would actually be a war crime in the technical sense.

Most people use 'war crime' to refer to more heinous offenses which are understood to be crimes regardless of who does it to whom, things like torture and ethnic cleansing.

The US doesn't issue hollow points because we don't want a massive supply problem the moment we invade Sweden and remember we can only use FMJs against their troops at the last minute.

Thought they were Delta or something of that caliber just there to fuck shit up if it went south.

The DEA's involvement was very superficial.
>>
>>30924621
Yeah, the idea is that the Mexis were after the VIP, and when she didn't get out of the car, they assumed she was the VIP. So this guy was corrupt, went in to off her, and somehow the super elite delta whoevers and moustache hero didn't notice him until he'd already been shot.
>>
>>30927623
I really don't think that was implied to be the case, but it's not a terrible idea.
>>
>>30924320

I was always under the belief that he was Delta. When he picks up Matt (Brolin) at the place, he mentions that he pulled together a team of Delta operators for him, the "crack bunch." Also, the DEA guy briefing the room about the op mentioned that all Deltas would be split between the lead and trail vehicles, and Boner was in the trail vehicle.

I think that's the point, he has a holistic view of the conflict and doesn't see the point of shooting gang members if he doesn't have to

he's saying to the hit squad "I see you, you see me, this isn't going to be an ambush, you guys are all stuck in that shitty car and I've already drawn, just go home"

the point is that if the gangs know they CAN walk away, they will walk away more often

I noticed the change in suppressor, but that was all.
Time stamps? I'm curious now.

Glasses guy was a DEA agent working in conjunction with members of the FBI, CIA, DELTA, US Marshals, and I think even a Texas Ranger or two (the fat mustachioed cowboy hat wearing guys of course)

They were not allowed to kill those guys. There is no "law free" zone between countries or special directive for super secret black ops dudes or w/e. Legally speaking they at best extrajudicially killed two carloads of enemy combatants, at worst murdered a bunch of foreign nationals while in their official roles as feds/military and while outside their jurisdiction. That's why when they all get back in their cars the guy on the radio says that there's going to be a shitstorm.

The guy who responds to him by saying it won't even make the news is the filler for the big plot hole created by their extrajudicial murder spree. If something like this did happen then there probably wouldn't be any involved party that would want it to be public. The Mexicans would be embarrassed, the Cartel would be embarrassed and in danger of looking like weak incompetent idiots, and the Americans would probably shit themselves until they realized Mexico and the Cartels want to stay quiet. None of this means that this would be allowed or legitimized somehow this is still completely illegal, but they ended up with the best possible version of an entirely fucked up situation so who wants to cause a commotion?

This thread has too much bullshit taken from the pages of guys who wrote books about what "they experienced" as black ops tactical ninja demons (read: they went on two missions and collected stories from what other people heard about). Does shady sneaky shit go on with the military acting on the edges of the law? Yes absolutely, and they push those edges as far as they can. But they still operate inside those boundries. That's the whole point of the movie. What they're doing isn't badass it's scary bordering on tyrannical, and the FBI agent is just used as a human legal loophole.

It changes from an MP5A3 or an MP5A5 that has a railed grip to either an MP5SD3 or an MP5SD6.

Look at the difference in 5:05 and 5:50. It's pretty easy to spot the difference between an SD and a non-SD MP5.

no it shouldn't.

shoot first, ask questions later only works in 80's action movies and cawodoody

So it would lead to war...?
>>
>>30932277

no (turkey shot down a Russian jet and now Putin and Erdogan are buddies), but it would lead to diplomatic incidents, pulling ambassadors, protests, protests in the UN, repayments, etc.

basically a sideshow of shit that distracts you from your job just because you got trigger happy.

it also gets you a pink slip and likely a trip to jail.

>none of them had any weapons showing or were acting strangely in the car before the MUH BLACK OPS OPER8ORZ got out waving rifles around and it was never stated that they had any intel on cars that had been tailing them or are known to be owned by cartel people or whatever

Have you even watched the movie or the clip above?
All the other cars have solo men or kids/women in them. These two cars are 1) modified/"styled" with aftermarket shit 2) have 4 guys in them that are eyeballing the US cars, looking nervous as fuck and are filled with tattoos and last but not least, at least one of the guys in the cars has his weapon out in broad daylight. Finally, the guy in the red car with the hysterical facial hair gets opens his door.

All of this happens before the US forces even leave their cars.

>they literally just shook down a random car and got lucky, and then do similar shit several other times throughout the movie

Can you give any actual examples?
>>
>>30924320
A lot of people have trouble fully understanding the who's who and what's what of this movie, and I imagine the film makers and screen writers did this intentionally to add to the suspense so you identify with the female protagonist. I'll hopefully help you folks understand some key points:

>female lead character is on the FBI's tactical team for her area
>while raiding a suspected cartel owned house, an IED goes off killing several LEO's
>CIA is running an op to put a friendly puppet cartel into power for north american drug distribution so they can be controlled per US interests since its known that the war on drugs is a fallacy anyway
>CIA handles national security interests OCONUS, FBI handles them CONUS per federal law (CIA not allowed to operate in the US)
>to make their op appear hunky dory, they create a federal task force consisting of reps from federal law enforcement agencies
>when operating as a law enforcement task force with agents of the US law enforcement community they can now officially legally operate in the US
>FBI leadership wants to protect their agents by going after this cartel who has taken it to the next level
>CIA guy (brolin) picks her because she is vulnerable and can be manipulated and hopefully wont ask too many questions
>she volunteers because she wants to "get the guys who did this"
>she asks too many questions
>cia guy basically says too bad youre along for the ride now

cont...
>>
>>30933968
>delta was brought into the task force probably on the down low just to assist since delta does do spooky spy stuff in addition to direct action (inside delta force is a great book that goes into it)
>marshals were officially present to pick up a prisoner for extradition to the US, marshals mainly handle federal prisoner transport in the US
>not sure if they mention exactly who mike weston works for in this but possibly just a contractor, i doubt LEO
>none of them wanted to leave a trail of bodies and the head shaking was likely not a taunt but a legitimate warning not to do anything stupid
>bad guys drew on him
>mike weston operated operationally

The movie is pretty self explanatory, might help to just watch it a couple times to catch everything. It's basically just a movie about the FBI chick being a pawn in a CIA op because if shit goes sideways they can say "hey we federal task force we can opr8 in the US lel"

First shot in this video (around 3:50) is birdshot from 12 feet. I think the shot in Sicario may have been from slightly further away, but the hole they get in that youtube video looks similar to the one in Sicario, if a little smaller.

How many times are you retards going to ask that? Yes, Mexico wants an official war to add to the troubles of the existing border conflict.

Typically violence between the border guards leads to some pretty stressful political situations.
