Like the H4 Warthog, a case of "close, but not quite". Make the leg pouches asymmetrical, tweak the gay white mask/faceguard, ditch the green visor (make it a regular clear or black), ditch the brown trim and darken the OD colouring a bit, and it'd be much better.
I mean, I like the Recruit and Warrior armor, and the BR looked neat, but everything else just looked so out of wack, like they were designed for a different game entirely.

Ruroc makes some pretty sick looking helmets. Since they're extreme sports helmets, they provide a pretty good field of view.

Combine some hearing protection/augmentation gear, and Kevlar, and it would be a pretty cool setup.

Doesn't help that all Gen 2 suits provide less armor protection than a Gen 1 suit. Once those shields go down they're fucked. Look at the Gen 1 MK VI suit, maximum armor coverage. Gen 2 has way too many exposed/unarmored portions.

Agreed. The white wasn't a handicap as they were Peacekeepers, which implies they're supposed to be visible to keep the population in line. It looked intimidating, and the lack of external pouches for spare ammo, probably not a major handicap considering how cowed the population was, at least at first. The visor was a good touch since it keeps the all powerful impersonal state goon image rather than people being able to see a scared or apprehensive human's face.

343 has contributed like, 4 good armors out of probably a hundred at this point, it honestly feels like they're throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. Pelican was the worst change though, ruined the blocky yet sleek and functional look. I kind of like how they bulked up Chief, he did look a bit thin in the original 3 IMO, but fuck me his armor was atrocious.
