I just bought an 89 cz-75 from gunbroker, hoping for it to be here by friday. It was in fair condition and looks like it has a fair bit of holster wear. I figured if i ended up liking the gun enough, i would just refinish it sometime in the future.

What would you guys recommend I do to refinish it? I saw on here that someone had used duracoat and baked their gun, i thought that looked pretty nice. What about possibly having someone give the frame and slide a nitride salt bath for that melonite look?

Neither of mine do, the half cock position was introduced with the second generation CZ-75 pistols. There are a few examples of 1980 dated short rail pistols with half cock positions however, from what understand, they used the extra short rail frames and slides they had and fitted them with 2nd gen internals.

>>30919236

Yes, but read the manga first it will give more context and you'll understand the setting and characters more.

Plus the manga is fantastic. You would have thought Sonada lived in america his whole life, the attention to detail is something else.

>>30919198
I spray painted a 1991 dated cz that had all the original finish wear off of it. Painted it with $5 rustolium paint from Lowes and bake cured it. it works great.

What's funny is that I actually recently acquired an NIB AT84S and I must have gotten the only one that absolutely sucks. It refused to feed with either CZ, Tanfoglio or factory magazines.

Ended up reselling to a collector for a healthy profit because good luck getting another one in CA. But damn that thing was a disappointment.
>>
>>30920502
That rustolium paint doesn't look too bad at all. What sort of prep did you do to the gun? Just clean it and degrease it? Did you detail strip it and paint the interior of the frame also?

I did detail strip it, but the insides was already painted and had no real wear, only the outside looked like shit, so I just buffed it with some steel wool, degreased it, painted it, let it dry, baked it for a couple hours at 300ish degrees, put it back together and called it a day.

>>30922210
That's the point. The pictured CZ 75 short rail sold on Gunbroker for well under market price not too long ago, mostly due to the fact that the seller didn't know what the fuck he had, so he titled the auction "CZ75/9mm/NR" or something equally autistic to that effect. The buyer was also a retard, though, who posted in a thread at czfirearms.us that "because there was no red paint in the safety dot," it must therefore be a refinish. As anyone can tell by looking at the gun, it's not a refinish. In that thread, every single person who posted, many of whom were extensive collectors, said that it's not a refinish.

In the last thread, Fagdre inexplicably defended the owner, saying that the gun wasn't even worth the selling price because "it is a total refinish with a giant import mark" or some similarly stupid shitpost that made it clear that he had never even seen a picture of the gun.

See the little dot-engraved "CAI GEORGIA VT." on the side of the frame? That's the import mark. It's required by law, but putting it in that location is about as inconspicuous of a location and as small as anyone could hope for - it is, in fact, the same place and same size font as CZ-USA engraves their own import marks on new CZ 75B's.
>>
>>30922253
So the CZ 75 wasn't an original short rail because the import mark had similarities to the new CZ 75Bs? I'm just trying to understand the situation here. I wasn't in the last thread.

Alright, I bought a CZ 75B a few weeks ago and I have only put about 350 rounds through it. Paying for rounds is the hardest part of shooting for me. The store I bought it from recommended that I not fire steel case out of it. Is it okay to fire them though? I want to be able to enjoy the gun but not go bankrupt.
>>
>>30922198
>refinished
When I talked to the owner on /le/ddit, he mentioned he could see imperfections under the bluing, that coupled with the lack of paint on the gun lead him to believe the gun was refinished.

You can re-blue a pistol without losing detail of markings. Bluing isn't like parkerization. You can chemically remove bluing without removing any metal, and re-blue a gun without any loss of metal or any sharpness to engravings, stampings and markings.

Sure the pistol very well could be original bluing, it looks like the original bluing to me, but I had no reason not to believe what the owner said as he has physical contact with the gun and can see anything that I cannot see through the other pictures he had sent me at the time.

>giant import mark
It's big enough that It bothered him a little. I don't like import marks on obvious parts of the frame either, would have been better on the bottom of the pistol grip like some importers have done. The positioning of the mark was all we were upset about, I said "large import mark" but it would have been more appropriate to say "annoyingly positioned import mark"

but that's just a collectors thing, most people wouldn't care at all, and he's happy just to have an original short rail.

>>30922253
>The pictured CZ 75 short rail sold on Gunbroker for well under market price not too long ago
I agree

>saying that the gun wasn't even worth the selling price because "it is a total refinish with a giant import mark"

Making shit up now? here's my old post >>30893687

I never said that the pistol was not worth the selling price. He got a great deal on that pistol.

>>30922325
No, it is an original short rail, CAI imported a lot of CZ-75 pre-b pistol and engraved it just like all their other imports, probably sold it for $300 and it ended up in the possession of some guy who didn't know what it was worth, and sold it for less than market value due to a poor listing.

>>30926563
Every pre-B I have had has been able to take new mecgar magazines without modification except for one.
OEM cz mags are hit and miss.
For example, my 1985 pre-B won't take OEM CZ-75 mags but can accept aftermarket mecgar mags.

Both my 1991 CZ-75 pre-bs can take all cz mags.

My transitional CZ-75 pistols can also take all cz mags. I've seen other pre-Bs that can't take OEM mags but can take mecgar mags, but there's no consistency between year dates.

I've had another 1991 CZ-75 pistol that also could not take OEM mags, but was able to take Mecgar mags with very slight modification, but then my other two 1991 CZ pistols can take both without modification.

Both my first generation cz-75 pistols (short rails) are 1978 dated, but one can take both CZ-75B OEM and mecgar mags, where as the other will only take pre-B mags and no other.

But from my experience, more likely than not, aftermarket magazines will work. It's only the 75B OEM mags that are hit or miss

>>30926570
There were a few short rails that popped up this year on sheer luck, and they were the first to come up in years, this is mostly because Bob decided to sell off several of his short rails and he has most of the short rails in the U.S. in his personal collection.

The other two short rails that sold recently that did not come from Bobs collection were imports by CAI

The chance of anymore popping up again soon is pretty slim, I spent 6 years myself looking for one before landing on the ones I got.

Who hell is Rally?

Oh, you mean LARRY, right? You must be using the 90s mistranslation of her name ironically, because nobody's stupid enough to not know her real name by now.
>>
>>30926796
It is not clear from the Japanese whether Rally's name is intended to be "Irene" or "Eileen" but the official English translation uses Irene. In several European editions of the manga, most notably in the Italian one, it is "Aileen". Since L's and R's are mostly interchangeable in Japanese to English translations, the main character's name is often translated as Rally Vincent, and this has become the standard. However, at the 1993 Anime America convention Kenichi Sonoda, when asked a question about the character, started his answer with "It's Larry, not Rally." This is further backed up in the manga where in one scene she is receiving a fax from Becky (about Riff-Raff), and the note scrawled on it addresses her as Larry. Sonoda also made mention that Rally is a lesbian, but is celibate.

just a quick thing i found, that said, much like gif, wacom, and other words like it, i don't care if its wrong, she is rally to me.

I'm sure you know but the old team was complete disbanded and a new team formed, only 3 members from the original staff remain, but the new staff we have has been working a million times better, mostly because we changed the focus of the game completely and the writers can collaborate properly this time around, plus my artist lives down the road from me and has no life so I don't have to worry about the artist flaking out on me.

>he mentioned he could see imperfections under the bluing,
Right, so you mean just like every other CZ firearm ever made?

>You can re-blue a pistol without losing detail of markings. Bluing isn't like parkerization. You can chemically remove bluing without removing any metal, and re-blue a gun without any loss of metal or any sharpness to engravings, stampings and markings.
You're being inconsistent now. If there were "imperfections under the bluing," then that would indicate holster wear and probably some surface corrosion to motivate the re-blue, which would imply a buffing job had been done to the gun. Yes, I realize you can re-blue a gun without doing any buffing, but people rarely just re-blue a gun for the fun of it. Why operate on the assumption that the gun has been re-blued when there is no evidence to indicate that?

>Sure the pistol very well could be original bluing, it looks like the original bluing to me,
To me and everybody else too.
>but I had no reason not to believe what the owner said
Do you think that every gun owner is an expert about all the guns they own? I am honestly curious where you got this ridiculous idea.

>annoyingly positioned import mark
It's literally in the same place that CZ-USA puts their import mark on new guns. Fill in the CAI mark with cold blue and it will look fine.

>>30923976
>You do realize any import marks kill gun values by hundreds and even thousands of dollars right?
It really does depend on the particular type of gun. The vast majority of non-surplus CZ 75 pre-B's have import marks and the import marks do not affect their value too much.
>How is flan an idiot for rehashing what the original owner said on the CZ forums?
No independent thought of his own, can't figure out that the owner is an idiot.
>Where did flan say it's not worth the price? I can still see the archive of the old thread.
Don't play coy. What's the point of going into all that detail to downplay the gun's value then?

I didn't even realize it had an ambi safety, since all of the pictures on CZ USA's website are of the left side of the gun only. The lack of checkering on the grip has always been one of my main complaints about the CZ 75, and seeing your gun has given me a new inspiration to pick one of these up for myself. Now why did they all disappear off the market for the past month or so? I know they are still being produced, since yours is 2016 production.

You are referring to your trigger finger feeling pain when you're shooting right? Maybe try letting the hammer down/dry firing it and cycling the slide so it resets the trigger and feeling if the trigger is moving under your finger while it resets? That may tell you if you're experiencing trigger slap.

It works pretty well depending on your genetics and what kind if body you already have. It can't change bone structure, but it makes skin thinner, changes body fat distribution, can change some secondary sex characteristics like body hair patterns, and some even claim it can change posture (but I think that's just a placebo thing.) It causes patients to grow breasts as well. Some report psychological changes, and most transsexuals put on HRT report at least some relief of their dysphoria.
>>
>>30932351
>But aren't they both single actions?
Wuuuuut??

>>30938337
Nope, it can't change your chromosomes and it makes you super depressed to the point you kill yourself.

Trannies dont kill themselves because of bullying, they do it because they're already wimps and now they're on a megadose of estrogen.
>>
>>30938397
Well patients should always start any type of treatment understanding its limitations. I'll never have XX chromosomes, but I can have a nice ass and a pretty face and be called ma'am by the clerk at the ammo counter.

HRT helped my dysphoria a lot. I've noticed a lot of my fellow trannies seem to be under the impression that HRT will fix all of their problems though. It becomes a magic solution in their minds and they tell themselves "I'll be fine once I get my titty skittles." This is a mistake. They get the HRT, they grow some boobs, their leg hair gets thinner, but they still haven't done any voice training, they might still need facial feminization, they might still be balding, and they might still be a retard or a shitty person. Then when HRT didn't fix problems they wanted it to because it's not a magical become an amazing successful person with money and looks and a hot boyfriend, they get even more depressed than before.

Hopefully we won't get the thread 404'd for daring to talk about it though...

The hammer does not need to be cocked every time you pull the trigger.

The slide cocks the hammer for you, dropping it down to single action.

https://youtu.be/xy2JQ0HqCuk

>>
>>30938639
The pistol cocks the hammer for you when the slide cycles. In a DA semi-auto pulling the trigger cocks the hammer too, if the hammer is not already cocked.
>>
>>30938639
Single and double action refer to how the fire control (trigger, hammer, sear, disconnector) function. A double action trigger does two actions, cocking the hammer/striker back, and releasing it. A single action trigger does one action, releasing the hammer/striker. Single action only (SA/SAO) guns are equipped with single action triggers. Double action only (DAO) guns are equipped with double action triggers that cannot be used single action. DA/SA guns are autoloaders that fire a first shot double action, and then after the action cycles reset themselves into single action.

1911's and Browning Hi-Powers are SAO.

I thought Seveneves was a shit. Snow Crash was awesome. Diamon Age was awesome and clever. Anathem was pushing too clever. Seveneves was just boring - zero char development. Never read Reamde or Baroque Cycle.

Radinov is best.

Single action has been around since...the first guns, maybe? Even the first revolvers were single action. It's very very old tech.

But it's much more simpler than double action, so a lot of people prefer the feel of a single action trigger to a double action.

If you look around you'll find several other manufacturers offering single action pistols. Some, like CZ, have special single action only versions of their double action pistols.
>>
>>30938856
What I meant was is the idea of the slide pushing back the hammer exclusive to John Browning's 1911 and Hi-Power?
>>
>>30938954
It wasn't. I can't remember exactly which pistol was the first to do that, but the C96 is touted as the first automatic pistol that worked well. That's 1896, and the 1911 would come along some time later.
>>
>>30938791
No. John Browning designed a lot of single action striker and hammer fired guns. I think he probably just had a personal preference for SAO, and understood that single action lends itself to accuracy since you usually have a lighter and shorter trigger pull with a SA trigger. His designs aren't the only to use single action, in face I'd say the majority of firearms are single action. From flintlock muskets on up we've been using single action triggers for revolvers, pistols, rifles, shotguns, and probably even artillery pieces.

Double action is really useful primarily on defensive handguns where carrying with the safety off and relying on a long, heavy trigger pull for safety means the gun takes the least time to have in a fireable condition since it already is in a fireable condition and it isn't likely to be jostled and go off.

With a SAO gun, you really need to either carry "Condition 1" "Condition 2" or "Condition 3." Condition 1 means you've got a full mag in the gun, a round in the chamber, the hammer or striker ready to fire amd the safety on. Condition 2 means you have a loaded magazine in the gun, a round chambered, and the hammer down. Condition 3 means you have a loaded magazine in the gun, am empty chamber. Condition 1 requires you to flip off the safety before you can fire, Condition 2 means you need to cock the hammer before you can fire, and Condition 3 means you need to rack the slide before you can fire. All of these add an extra step to firing your defensive weapon when milliseconds matter and your brain is jacked on adrenaline, making it easy to forget important things, and so some people want DA/SA and DAO guns for defensive use because of the simplicity.
>>
>>30939028
As an aside, I usually carry DA guns for defense, but when I have carried SAO guns, I carry Condition 1. Condition 2 is dangerous since it often requires you to decock a firearm that isn't equipped with a decocker (mechanism for safely decocking a loaded gun), which makes a neglegent discharge likely. Condition 2 is also pretty awkward if your gun has any kind of a beavertail in the way. Condition 3 takes a lot of training to be fast at, and I'd rather be able to flip the safety off and shoot.

Awesome AND affordable. Got mine for $375 and I've put about 2,000 rounds through it without a single hiccup. Mec-Gar mags are awesome and reliable and I've got a ProMag 30rd mag that hasn't had a single issue either.

So far I've fed it:
> Hornady 115gr JHP
> Hornady 135gr JHP
> Tula 115gr FMJ (lots)
> American Eagle 147gr flat-point FMJ (LOTS)
> Barnes 147gr HP
> Federal HST 135gr HP

Never had a single issue, no FTF, no FTE, nothing. Just fun times shooting.

I mean that's like $600 for the gun and just an off the cuff guess at least $200 for a refinish with quality bluing. I'd rather just buy an older blued one and just live with it being well worn.

Burst is basically the GSC comic but set a couple years later, so Rally has a flip phone and the internet plays a bigger part, and the coke bottles are the current plastic ones. Its basically good until the very last chapter, which basically ruins the whole buildup to what you were led to believe would be an awesome rescue mission.
Just don't buy the last volume.

Was it Exxaxion, or that weird wizard thing with the loli getting shot in the head with a .38?

Also there's rumor that Burst was done the way it was to "burn" the series and end it for good, because he wanted out of the GSC contract.

sure, but couldn't they have at least changed things around to make it a magwell?

Is $440 OTD a good price for a CZ-75B? It has 1 Factory mag & a mecgar mag. It's dated 1995, some scratches but nothing too crazy. It also has the CZ rubber grips, CZ wood grips and the Hogue grips.

They do apparently fit with some molding, but the laser pointer isn't included; so if you're looking to assemble a truly functioning replica then you're gonna have to do some diy. Gunbroker has plenty later models, but I'm looking for one of the original imports where the decocker is near the top of the slide.

Yeah, that's what you want if you're going for a Cowboy Bebop Jericho. You need the early slide safety model with no rail on the dust cover and you need it to be one that's actually rollmarked as a =Jericho 941= as opposed to an Uzi Eagle or Baby Desert Eagle or Baby Deseret Eagle of Baby Dessert Eagle or Desert Eagle Pistol. If you just want a Jericho just get a new production one with an accessory rail and frame safety or an Israeli surplus one with no rail amd a frame safety, but if you're going for the Spike Spiegel gun or you want one of the 1990 imported ones that actually has the .41 barrel, recoil spring, and magazines, you get to live with a slide decocker.
