We don't know if his mother was his mother, we don't know shit if I'm blunt. My mother is Italian/Irish but she has the super dark hair and eyes. That and all her side's family are either in Italy, the other side of the country, or dead while my father's 'family'- and by extension mine- are all through here.

I'm friends with lots of liberals, but things have gotten tense in recent years. Bush Derangement Syndrome was one thing, but under Obama and with SJWs there's a lot of pressure now to punish people for being conservative or libertarian, or even being less than perfectly dogmatically liberal.

So some friends have either distanced themselves or flat-out told me they can't be friends with someone who's conservative. The rest remain friends and we just avoid talking politics.

Or for fiction, Robert Heinlein, Ayn Rand, etc. Many liberals invest a lot of time and energy shitting on these works without ever having read them.

This is a good chance to ask yourself if you've ever been a dick to anyone else over politics, and if maybe this is an opportunity to learn about the other side even if you never decide to join it.

There are surveys that show that liberals can't accurately describe what the conservative position on any given issue is, but meanwhile conservatives have no problem articulating what liberals believe.

Liberals seem mostly to hang out with other liberals. Which makes sense. Part of having the government assume control over people's personal lives is the sense that everything connects to politics: sex is political, movies are political, groceries are political, and your choice of friends is political. And when they do end up meeting a conservative, he's an enemy to be conquered, converted, or driven off. Hence all the debates.

Conservatives and libertarians have lots of autists, but most just want the government and politics to stay out of their lives. Part of THAT is not caring about politics when you aren't actively concentrating on it. So your choice of friends is based on stuff other than their loyalty to Hope and Change or whatever.

Being armed with the facts and willing to fight back when other people start up gun arguments is an important part of protecting our freedoms. That anon isn't being a fedora, he's standing his ground when challenged. If he were going around shouting his views in the street, that's something else but that's not what it is.
