I have an AR that I keep for HD, but all my other purchases are just for fun or for the history of the firearm. In fact, I only have about two mags for each gun that isn't an AR, even my pistols. To put it in perspective, I have 4 AKs and only 3 mags total for all of them.

I go it in pretty rough shape, but after a detailed cleaning the Makarov shoots well enough. I actually enjoyed shooting it more than the Hi-Power until I took out the magazine safety. YMMV but doing that really improved how the trigger the felt.

For edc the Makarov is definitely easier to conceal, with a proper holster. That said the Hi-Power is also pretty concealable if you aren't a skeleton that wears tight clothes all the time. I can conceal it 4 o'clock with a t-shirt easily.

I got the Makarov as my first pistol, just for the historical appeal of it. Going back though I probably would have gotten the Hi-Power first and just taken out the magazine safety earlier on.

Whatever you choose to get, I'm certain you'll enjoy it. I'm not really fond of pistols, but those two are some of my favorites in my collection.
