IS also released some pretty good footage from Sinai a few days ago.

Checking in. Even though I missed most of the weekend including the final breaking of the Aleppo siege I should be around the next couple days.

A ton of footage is still coming out from the artillery college battle. This one is a drone view of a rebel tank pounding one of the buildings. They blasted it good before entering.

Step reporting large rebel attack repelled the SAA from around Shilif and Shilif castle. Pro rebel sources claim they hit the SAA positions with grad barrages and are still mopping up.

I would be lying if I said I didn't expect this. Rebels let them in and they fell for it.

Will be interesting if and where they move next. I'm pretty sure that they will go to the Water Treatment in the south this week (and the cement factory in front). It should be an ideal target to make the breakthrough wider.

In the north probably try to move into Hamadiyah/300 Apartment and Al Assad suburb. No idea how successfull that will be. But JaF has already announced that they are definitely going into Western Aleppo.

Just to add, the corridor is some 2 km wide.

From what the pro SAA sources are reporting, it seems that the Government forces are all flocking up around the Hamadiyah district, but until now, doesn't seem that they have any plan to counter attack, aside from prepare more defences in that area.

Rebels also declared that the fourth phase of the operation, aiming to take all of Aleppo, have already began. Their victory breaking the siege made their morale pumped up.
>>
>>30906830
Yup.

The rebel propaganda is saying they were expecting the battle to take a month, not 2 days. And that they've only utilized 20% of their manpower, which might not be the exact figure but still a worrying sign for the aleppo defenders.

If they cut off the Castello Road permanently and trap the thousands of defenders in west Aleppo, the SAA and Iranians inside are screwed.
>>
>>30906937
>If they cut off the Castello Road permanently and trap the thousands of defenders in west Aleppo, the SAA and Iranians inside are screwed.

Impressively, this was the exactly same thing that I was thinking. But the best place where the Rebels could attack to try siege the government forces in west Aleppo, without transforming it into a all out bloody urban battle, would still be at the Mallah farms area.

Jets – believed to be Russian – intensified their bombing of rebel-held Aleppo countryside and also hit opposition-held Idlib city in northwestern Syria, rebels said.

“We have now seized full control of the Ramousah area … we are in our trenches but there are insane air strikes of unprecedented ferociousness. The regime is using cluster and vacuum bombs,” said Abu al-Hasanien, a senior commander in Fateh Halab, the coalition of moderate rebel groups inside the city.

Rebel-released video footage showed huge flames which, the group said, was caused by white phosphorus bombs dropped on the city.

As the insurgents took over parts of the government’s Ramousah military complex, which contains a number of military colleges, they broadcast images of the weaponry and ammunition they were taking possession of.

Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, formerly the al-Qaida-affiliated Nusra Front, posted pictures of rows of armoured vehicles, munitions, howitzers, rockets and trucks.

The rebel frontline is now pushing northwest towards another large government military complex, the Assad military engineering academy.

Posting Manbij map for a bump. Not much is going on right now.

IS is taking their last stand, this battle went how I thought it would. I thought they would lose but not without mauling SDF/YPG. Taking this city hit's IS hard. Aleppo based IS will be forced to make a move. They already wore out the Mare city option.
>>
I'm honestly surprised they managed to hit south Aleppo that hard. I pictured modest gains and then it being rolled back. Though it can still be rolled back this makes the regime look very incapable of defending its 2nd largest city...

Moral hurting for sure.

And did the rebels just overcome Russian support via en masse or did the Russians not really help? I find it odd with south Aleppo being relatively easy picking for air targets. Feels like the Russians aren't actually committed.
>>
There is also a change in the SAA Aleppo command now; Security Committee for Aleppo President; Maj. Gen. Mohammed Adib was sacked and now replaced by Maj.Gen Saleh Zaid, pic, the one who commanded the Republican Guards in the attack of Layramoun and Bani Zayd industrial areas, some weeks ago.

HMS St Albans, nicknamed The Saint, sailed into Portsmouth Naval Base following its deployment to the Syria and Iraq where it worked alongside the French and U.S. carriers FS Charles de Gaulle and the USS Harry S Truman.

The 220-strong crew were welcomed by cheering families waving Union Flags as it pulled up at Portsmouth.

And a specialist embarked detachment of Royal Marines from 43 Commando conducted numerous boardings of suspicious vessels, working closely with the ship's boarding team.

A Navy spokesman said: 'They were supported by the flight team from 829 Squadron and their new Merlin Mk 2 helicopter whose state-of-the-art sensors have given St Albans a major advantage in detecting and identifying suspicious vessels, helping disrupt the flow of illegal goods in the region.'

180 turn of events since last nights grad barrages and retreat. They are doubling down on Kinsibba.

Other parts in Syria now,
In Aleppo JSF claims to have repelled a attack from the cement factory near the siege break area in Aleppo.

-Ruaf airstrikes around Palmyra with TU-22 bombers.

-Daryyra and the northern Homs pocket hit with airstrikes

You are an idiot if you think the rebels didn't have a high chance of making a break in the siege lines.

The SAA was overextended after completely surrounding Aleppo. The FSA moved a decent amount of its forces from Idlib and attacked with overwhelming numbers.

Now the SAA needs to bomb the hell out of the FSA and retake the district. That's how it has always been in Syria.

It was a loss, but one I expected.

Dumping unguided munitions from altitude like that on Aleppo would probably be a worse option, given how relatively close a lot of the positions there are. Would you really want to be the SAA with RuAF doing bomb runs like that anywhere near you? Better to let them smash stuff out in the desert where nobody gives a fuck if they're half a km off target.

I'm reading that rebel factions are offering 10,000 dollars for every Iranian/Hezbollah or Russian turned in to the rebels in Aleppo. SAA are allowed to take part.

I like the idea but I has some questions. Is it dead or alive? What kind of proof is needed or dead bodies could start turning up that might not be Hez/Iranain, On that note do you just need the head or the whole body?

Also what if it actually works too well and a SAA soilder kills/catchs something like 25 of them. I hope they would be willing to pay out a quarter of a million dollars to this newly rich former SAA solider.

Here to bump the thread with some useless informations, as almost all fronts are the same as early today; no news on the Rebel counter offensive in East Ghouta, as airstrikes probably screwed their plans. In Homs and near Palmyra there are coming more reports of fighting between the SAA and ISIS, recently. Manbij is 90% controled by the SDF/YPG now, their claim. And, in Aleppo, no other major activity have happened since the Rebels have broken the siege, Syaaf and Ruaf stepped up their airstrikes over there, while almost all SAA named units are being called to the area, from Hezbollah, the Homs Leopards, some Tiger Forces, the Quds, more Shia militias and, now, even the Special Forces of the 15th Division.

Also, the military commander of the Quds (the guy of the Glock shirt) received a russian medal.

So the medal was just a pat on the back and mentioned no combat valor whatsoever.... that's nice of them.

Also to your question Ruaf is heavily bombing parts of Aleppo especially near Mallah but there has never been good ground coordination between them. They worked well together during Palmyra because Russian Spetsnaz were calling in the airstrikes.

Expanding on this is the reason they bring the Tu-22ms for Palmyra strikes. They have a FOB IN Palmyra and IS controls the surrounding countryside. This is a situation the Russians have to keep a close eye on least their own troops get murked.

You forgot the one who has gained the most out of this conflict so far:
IRAN.

Iran has been able to legitimize itself through fighting ISIS.
Iran has been able to de facto take control over large portions of Iraq.
Iran has increased it's weight in Syria dramatically. The Syrian government is propped up by thousands of IGRC soldiers and tens of thousands of Iran paid and imported mercenaries.
ISIS gave the Iranians and Shia justification to invade and take control over the Sunni parts of Iraq.
The ongoing conflict is causing Sunni ethnical cleansing in Syria and Iraq, with Iran being the greatest benefactor, a continued conflict only serves to increase Shia demographic dominance in Syria and Iraq further.

Your little 'info-graphic' is little more than an 'I hate these countries' rant.

>in Aleppo, no other major activity have happened since the Rebels have broken the siege

Seems like the rebels are smart, by the time they have broken the siege, every logical venue of attack in the region was being reinforced and read (psychologically for an attack). Starting another offensive right away had a good chance of turning into a defeat for them.

Also, they need to reinforce the defense line and turn it into a strong defensive position as fast as possible. That means a lot of work, I bet there are crews there digging defensive tunnels 24/7.

>almost all SAA named units are being called to the area
Sounds like propaganda. The area is too small to allow all of these to operate simultaneously anyway, concentrating too many of your capable forces in one spot in the North of the country is asking to get overrun somewhere else.

While you were gone you were right about Latakia and the theory that the SAA would make large gains there after rebels moved all their troops to Aleppo. I argued thinking they would leave behind a "big enough" rear guard and I was wrong.

RU correctly pointed out that you were right but it didn't matter since rebels considered breaking the Aleppo siege far more important than losing Kansiba so it was a calculated risk.

I don't have much but the early reports,
-rebels again claim to have repelled a attack coming from the cement factory next to Ramossah

-airstrikes at the usual hot areas

-pro SAA sources claim advancing at Tell Mahrouqat then pro rebel sources claim this was repelled

-pro SAA sources claim to have taken Hawsh Nasri in eastern Ghouta

-rebels ambushed and killed 6 SAA near Mann village in Hama

I double this, they cover conflicts decently, even if sometimes over dramatized, and their combat footage is bretty gud. Why there is so much hate for VICE?

There are reports coming of another SAA and allied assault into the Ramouseh district, and unconfirmed reports that the SAA have taken the Souq Al Jibs area, next to the Assad district. The latter comes from a pro SAA source that I dont put much trust.

Here a cheesy video od the Iraqi shias sending reinforcements to Aleppo, some reports suggest a figure of 2000 troops:

Reposting for advice,

My family are starting up a Security Management business in the Middle East and they want to hire me in some form of low-ranking Security role.

I'm Australian so I've got little experience with guns and dealing with the combat threats that I would encounter over there.

They're looking at places that are less AllahuAkbar like Qatar, UAE, etc.

Does anybody have any advice for me? How to live over there, things to avoid, crash courses on using an AK47?

At least the SAA and allied air forces are trying, and in some degree, succeeding, in hitting Rebel positions along the area, delaying any Rebel organization to prepare further pushes. This could give the SAA enough time to prepare whatever thing they are planning with all those reinforcements that they are pouring into the area.

There is almost nothing else to report aside from what have been already said; there are reports that the Rebels took some three villages in North Aleppo ping pong tournament, a ride that never ends and a front that almost everyone have already lost interest. But it should be said that, maybe, this time is finally for good, as ISIS dont seem to have enough reinforcements or will to try anything funny in northern Syria, anymore, who knows.

Related to ISIS in Northern Syria, there are some reports that ISIS is finally sending some reinforcements groups from Raqqa and Jarablus to reach Manbij, now that the the SFD/YPG have claimed some 90% or more of the city in their hands.
>>
>>30928764
I'm not saying the SAA isn't trying , in fact like you said they are hitting the corridor hard. What the rebels goal is to get a larger buffer. If they can than the battle Aleppo is going to get a lot more exciting. Jaf will start thinking big and try something crazy. If they can't than this is going be a rather standard Aleppo stalemate for the next few months.
>>
>>30928953
Don't worry Five Stars, I was not criticizing what you said, I agree with what you said. I was just adding to the comment saying that at least for the SAA they are not idle, taking punches and defending.

its old news, but TU-22M's were reported to be up in the air as of four hours ago in South/Eastern Russia, if these aircraft are headed to Syria they will most likely target the Rebel relief corridor or the 1070 apartments.

I mentioned 1070 because a few hours ago RuAF aircraft apparently dropped incendiary bombs over the apartment complex.

This comes as Hezbollah has finally arrived in Southern Aleppo. The units sent to Aleppo are apparently comprised of commandos, no specific unit name has come up.

The United States has approved the possible sale to Saudi Arabia of up to 153 tanks, hundreds of machine guns and other military gear in a deal worth $1.15bn.

The announcement coincided with news that Saudi-led coalition warplanes had resumed air strikes on Yemen’s capital for the first time in three months, killing 14 people and shutting the airport after UN-brokered talks were suspended.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Riyadh had requested the possible purchase of up to 133 American M1A1/A2 Abrams tanks that would be configured to Saudi needs, plus another 20 to replace damaged tanks in their fleet.

Additionally, the deal would include 153 .50-calibre machine guns, 266 7.62mm M240 machine guns, smoke grenade launchers, armoured recovery vehicles and a range of other hardware.

Congress has 30 days to block the sale, though is unlikely to do so.

Few relatively minor updates.

In Afghanistan, the Taliban have made more advances in the Helmand province. As it stands, they control 10/14 of the region's districts and have displaced up to 30 thousand people in the span of seven weeks.

Sky News ran a story about a Russian PMC called "Wagner" that operated in Syria. Allegedly, they numbered in the hundreds and took a lot of casualties that the Russian government does not disclose.
>The Wagner fighters accused their commanders of sending them on 'suicide missions' designed to 'soften-up' the opposition before Syrian Army troops were sent in.

>Alexander recounted the battle for the city of Palmyra, conducted earlier this year.

>He said: "During the storming of Palmyra, we were used as cannon fodder. You could say that. Reconnaissance went forward first so they could observe and report. I knew three in that group - two died before they got to the city. From my assault company, 18 died. After us, those chickens from Assad's army followed and finished the job but we did most of the work."

>The official number of Russians killed in Syria stands at 19. However, the Wagner fighters told Sky News they believed hundreds of their fellow employees have been killed.

>They accuse the authorities of covering it up.

>"Who will ever tell you about this? Sometimes the bodies are cremated but the papers say 'they're missing'. Sometimes the documents say the soldier was killed in Donbass (eastern Ukraine). Sometimes they say 'car accident' and so on," claimed Alexander.

>Dmitry claimed hundreds of men have been left in Syria.

>"Sometimes they are buried, sometimes they are not," he said. "Sometimes they just dig a hole. It depends on how the commanders feel towards the person."

Basically yes. Not much today as me and RU were talking about yesterday it looked like a stalemate was forming in Aleppo. I wouldn't count either side out yet for another major offensive but they are more concerned with digging in for the time being.

At the end of the day the only major thing that has changed was after rebels losing Castillo road /Bain Zaid they gained Ramoussah and the artillery school making it a wash.

That said the lose of the artillery college was one of the biggest defeats for the SAA in years. A massive military complex being overrun doesn't happen everyday.

What's even more funny is the last combat report from 15 mins ago was Ruaf dropping cluster bombs on the 1070 projects and that whole front at the same time they announced the 3 hour ceasefire a day.

Does that mean the rest of the 21 hours will be non stop bombing?
>>
>>30935853
Also shit is coming in fast right now right as I am about to take my usual 12 hour break. Step reporting a SAA attack from the cement plant was repelled and the SAA or pro SAA forces took heavy casualties. Here we go.

Hassan Ridha is reporting that ISIS counter attack in northern Manbij have already captured the Za'tar factory, one hill and five villages south of Awn al-Dadat: Mujra Tahtani, Khirbet al-Massi, al-Na'im, Bozkabij and al-Muwasin.

The pro YPG sources still didn't commented on this, and the only news on their side is that now they claim control of 97% of Manbij, with some 200 to 400 ISIS fighters remaining in the pocket.

ISIS also claimed to have shot down a aircraft belonging to Lybia Dawn, killing the plane pilot, in Lybia, of course.

I dont have a new image to ilustrate this report, so I gonna use this totally unrelated photo of a happy Assad senior.

I was just thinking about what kind of effect vacuum would have on a person so did ISIS execute anyone using a vacuum chamber?

>like it makes a fuckin difference
It does make a difference. The difference is they are still much safer inside than out.

Riding on top to avoid being hurt upon penetration is one of those gloriously retarded things humans do, like not wearing a seatbelt in a car because it might trap you.
So they avoid specific kinds of catastrophic things happening with them inside - and in exchange allow themselves to be shot at with small arms and machine guns, and guaranteeing that some of them are going to fall off and get killed by their own vehicle.
>>
>>30936612
Not that I'm aware of, and I think their 'glory' days of dreaming up new ways to kill people on video every few weeks are past them now so it's not going to happen either. Probably a bit much for them to set up and get good video of, the most mechanically complex thing I recall them doing offhand were the cage drownings in a pool, which I was actually quite impressed that they took the time to set up.

You know that IS has the best propoganda in the world, none can compete with them. So they will just cover it up as they did with Fallujah.

Clashes between the two sides lasted for several hours, during which U.S. aircraft intervened, as fighters of the Islamic State managed to kill 9 Afghan soldiers and wound 26 others, in addition to destroying 3 hummers and seizing another, as well as a number of weapons.

This comes four days after Islamic State fighters repelled a joint Afghan-American attack on a number of positions in Nangarhar, supported by intense U.S. air cover.

Short updated on the situation.

Lebanon's army is conducting military operations along the Syrian border in order to dislodge islamist rebels from its eastern borders. This comes as Lebanon's army chief met with Russian officials and discussed increased cooperation against islamist rebels operating inside Lebanon (and most likely on the Syrian side of the border as well). In addition to that, Lebanon's army has received an arms package from the US that is worth an estimated 50M dollars, with equipment ranging from large artillery pieces to grenade launchers.

Just in, Hezbollah and the SAA have launched an offensive in southern Aleppo. This offensive is aimed at re-capturing the Al-Ramouseh district as well as the 1070 complex, Hamdaniyah Housing Project, Wassout Al-Jabless, Tal Al-Sanoubrat, and the Aleppo Cement Factory. No gains have been reported as of yet. Im gonna guess that by the time I wake up i'll have missed the live stream of all the fighting.

Lastly, Libyan forces have taken control of ISIL's headquarters in the coastal Libyan city of Sirte. The battle for Sirte is beginning to wind down, but pockets of resistance are being reported as ISIL is still known to control three residential districts, as well as a villa complex.

Looks like west Aleppo front is coming back to life, as Government and allied forces launched an assault against the Ramouseh district, the 1070 complex and Artillery Base, claiming some positions captured inside Ramouseh and the 1070 apartaments.

Rebels, who launched a counter attack, are claiming that they have already taken back all positions lost in the district, while pro SAA source acknowledge the loss of the mayor building.

Whats interesting is how strained SAA supply lines into Aleppo probably are now that they have to get men and supplies through the Castillo road corridor. My third thought is that any money they send us for expensive conventional weapons is money that they can't funnel into Wahhabism or paying off terrorists to go attack somebody else instead of them.

That's the problem. Aiding the Saudis translates to aid for Wahhabi zealots that are not only stirring shit in the Mideast but also everywhere else that is not subjugated under Sunni Islam.

I don't care if they're throwing a fuckton of money to anyone willing to sell, but at least America wouldn't have dirt on their hands if the House of Saud is disposed and Saudi Arabia turns into a total theocracy that uses its military power to fuck shit up.
