In the Browning design the barrel and slide are locked together as a single unit by the chamber block and both move together under recoil until the pressure drops to safe levels and the barrel pivots down to unlock the slide.

The muzzle then tilts up.

The chamber is in the peoper orientation for a round to feed.


As the slide moves froward it it pushes on the fron of thw barrel and the barrel pivots back into the fireing position , locking back into the slide.


Then the slide+barrel move into battery and the gun can be shot again.

Recently a member of our local community passed. His family is looking to get rid of his guns. Caught wind of it, said I might be interested. Of interest to me is mostly his 1911. Now I don't know much about 1911s, thats why I am here.

Its obviously in 45acp, and its got "Safari Arms" printed on the side. From this I deduced it to be most likely a Matchmaster 5 (or maybe 6) by Safari Arms (duh) which may or may not have been or have become Olympic Arms. The serial number might be (didn't check when I held it, and the pic I have is kinda blurry) in the 80k range. Also included would be a separate barrel and slide in 9mm.
The person I talked to (this is a "neighbour of a friend of a friend" kinda thing) didn't know how much the owners would want for it.

So my question now -
-Safari Arms - never heard of them. Stay away or look closer? (i.e. is it my local version of Taurus, or LesBear on the other hand?)
-their 1911 any good? (I seen an article saying they sell a $500 AR15, not sure if thats bad or good)
-how much would one of their 1911 be worth? (hardmode: in €, for a citizen of the caliphate)

When i went to Vegas from bongland on holiday i went to Battlefield Vegas to pop my gun cherry. Among the other guns i fired, i used an M4 and an AK47 (i think it was some COD-fag themed package, but it had a wide range of choice).

You can build an AR pistol for dirt cheap and then use it while waiting for your Tax Stamp to be approved or denied some time next year. This is based on my assumption that suppressing a Mosin might require some work and money to make it possible. As for fun, you have many choices of caliber to choose from, and can eventually save up enough to build an upper for each one.

What is the difference between an FNX and an FNP? I've been looking for days and have not been able to glean anything except the FNX having more chamber support.

Hey /k/, I really want to get into shooting but i've run into a bit of a problem. I'm short sighted and wear prescription glasses, however whenever I've tried to look down the sights of a handgun, I've had issues with focusing on the front sight. Everything becomes misaligned and it's impossible to aim.My only work around is to turn my head sufficiently to one side and I somehow manage to focus, but i'm left in an uncomfortable position.

Say if I am at a store checking some long guns, trying to shoulder it and feel it and all, where do I point it at, the ground? Assuming people walk around in all directions.

I'm trying to sight in my new AR-15 with a laser bore sight I picked up earlier today. The laser point is lower than the lowest setting on my front sight post. How do I fix that or what the fuck am I doing wrong.

Not trying to get real legal advice from 4chan. But is it generally legal to use any sort of bb gun in city limits?

I got these prairie dogs in a field nearby (fine) that are starting to make major inroads into the yard. Looking to deal with them without pissing off the neighbors.

You can zero there, it'll at least get you on paper. Out of a 16in-20in barrel your Point of Impact should be about 1.6in low for a 100yrd zero. At short distances, you have to take into account the fact that the sights are significantly higher than the bore and that you really cannot get that steep of an angle on the sights. Look up how to zero at short ranges and you will see on the ballistic curve where your rounds should be hitting at close range based on a longer zero.

Anybody think they can help with 1911 issues?
My champion operator is having problems with FTEs and slide not liking back. Both issues are on the last round and the gun chews the shit out of the brass during FTEs.

I'm about 7-800 rounds in on this gun and I'm using Wilson 8-round magazines. My only thought is its either the magazines (which I don't really believe), I should change my guide rod spring (hopefully the root of my problems), or it's because I got a 4" 1911.

So my options are try a new brand of magazine, change guide rods, trade a sucker on arms list for a full size 1911, or whatever you guys can recommend.

What's a good OWB holster for an S&W SD9VE?

They do work on constant noise in the sense that if it's over the threshold the mic circuit will be off and they'll just be muffs the whole time. Noise cancelling is better for constant drones but that's a different technology and I don't know how useful it is for hearing professional hearing protection per se.

Even so, worst case you can still take them to work and just use them turned off.

In theory; shouldn't it be possible to combine something like one of those free hang camera rigs and an industrial shotgun for infantry portability?

I don't think an industrial shotgun would be particularly useful to carry around or anything, just was watching some movie on netflix recently, some kind of found footage horror thing but like at some point the "film crew" that stumbled into some spooky shit was shown on screen and they had this interesting free hang camera rig thing, which seemed to make carrying and precisely aiming a large heavy camera pretty easy.
