It's a fact that while the Stgw 57 is complex and expensive, it's still a formidable rifle compared to other battle rifles.

Just because some third world country uses the cheapest shit they can get doesn't mean it's good. FALs and G3s are trash when it comes to quality and accuracy compared to the SIG 510.

Our competitions are not designed around the SIG 510 at all, if the SIG 510 outscores rifles like pic related which are Olympic grade rifles then I can assume that the SIGs are better than other rifles.

>>30902905

Calm down you morons.

The SIG 510 is a good rifle, I have no idea how it compares to other battle rifles since I've never shot the other ones that the other guy mentioned. Sure I would love to own a PTR, a L1A1 and other shit.

I'm not going to say that it's better than the FAL and other shit because as I said I have no experience with those guns. Maybe those are better, maybe not. Who the fuck cares.

Why is it not used? Maybe because my country and SIG (no, not SIG SAUER) makes expensive shit for internal use only, and not many countries would be willing to use a rifle that is expensive as fuck and from a company less known than FN and H&K that doesn't have the same capacity and extent as those huge companies.

Nonetheless, the 510/AMT/PE57/STGW57 is a high quality rifle, prized for its reliability and accuracy as are other SIG made guns like the 550. It has bad things about it just like any other fucking rifle, it's heavy as fuck, unergonomic as fuck (you can't even access the select fire switch without removing the hand from the the grip) and complex as fuck. It used to be expensive as fuck when they made civilian ones, costing around 3.5k in Switzerland.

Now, a SIG 510 just in STOCK condition has WORSE accuracy than a K31 or a Stgw 90. That's why you see shit like this >>30901322 full of bling and other shit. The people that buy this kind of shit end up shelling thousands of Swiss Francs to make the gun more accurate, which is stupid because they could just buy a fucking Stgw 90 and shoot better with it.

So instead of throwing shit at each other due to shit fanboyism, just take a deep breath and realize that it's fucking useless to argue about this since you guys across the pound can't even own them without spending a shit ton of money and we can't use other shit at the OFFICIAL ranges to compare those rifles.

P.S. For that guy in a dress, no I'm not going to cut the barrel. All I'm going to do is to refinish it to look new.

And this from a country whose air force keeps bankers hours.

For its time, it was amazing, sure.
But we're not decades and decades in the past.
It has what would be considered acceptable accuracy for a rifle with a good barrel on it today.
>>
>>30904565
The rifle is popular among people that mod them in Switzerland because once you buy all the shit for it, it gets very accurate.

There are scope mounts, rails and better pistol grips along with modern buttstocks. The rifle was replaced by the SIG 550 which is better in stock configuration so there's no real use for it and since our army is very important we don't really like to leave old standard issue rifles when there's a new one.

They call it that because of the high quality of manufacturing and high price. Man it's a swiss product, we don't fuck around with quality.

>>30904680
Just like the FAL and the G3 are outdated.

You could put one of those match grade barrels on it and free float it to make it more accurate but our country doesn't keep old outdate shit when there's a new rifle like the 550.
>>
>>30904706
Free floating an FAL isn't always the best not accuracy. A good, rigid handguard can help keep the barrel whip from the piston cycling to be more consistent. But then you've got to have consistent pressure on the handguard.

The FAL and G3 are outdated. Very few actually use them today. They've moved on. I have too

Yeah, that's why not even our army uses the 510.

Nowadays only collectors, modders and sports shooters use them.

In Switzerland you can get a good one for around 400 Swiss Francs.

I mean for this price it's an excellent rifle, you can then buy a shit ton of mags for 20 CHF a piece. Ammo is easy and cheap.

It's basically the best priced semi auto gun you can buy in this country.
>>
>>30904878
Im sure.
And in switzerland, its probably a great buy. Plenty of cheap parts, easy upgrade paths, lots of local talent who are SMEs on maintenance and upgrades.

Locally it may make sense. To the rest of the world.......

personally don't understand why FN doesn't sell their SCAR-Hs exactly like the OP pic. Would it REALLY be that expensive to incorporate a longer grip and a lower that accepts PMAGS?
>>
>>30905390
That lower takes superior FN mags and what do you mean by grip.
They also dont sell it that way as its an SBR.
>>
The extended foregrip. This is pretty much a mandatory feature, even if you just sit on a the bench and plink the rail is woefully short, it's barely even possible to use a bipod.

By all means if you want to pay 40$ for each mag be my guest, but I personally would rather just buy dozens of PMAGs for all my 7.62 ARs and my SCAR and be done with it. The standard SCAR selectors are trash, as is the trigger
>>
>>30905492
I'd rather spend $35 a mag and get steel feed lips rather than $20 mags that can't handle staying loaded. Lancers would be fine, but they are essentially sold out, and $50 a mag.

Extended handguards are nice. But not everyone wants the same thing. Better to accept aftermarket.

The trigger is completely acceptable as a BR trigger. Not as a precision trigger
>>
>>30905492
And stock selectors are fine.
Aftermarket are nicer though

DPMS .308 is better than their .223 guns. There is no .308 AR milspec. And CMMG is worse than both.

At $1500 anon is at the point where he can build a pretty sweet .308 AR, but only get a meh prebuilt. If he wants a warranty, it's better to get a $1000 gun and have room left over for an optic or mags or ammo than to drop $500 more on a gun not really any better.

>>
>>30918875
you cannot interchange incompatible:
> barrel
> handguard
> upper

the lower also needs to be compatible with the upper but that varies by every manufacturer (so just buy a matched set)
then, the only other compatibility issue you are likely to have will be the bolt catch. For instance, CMMG bolt catches are only compatible with the CMMG Mk 3 specs, confirmed will not work with DPMS (at least gen I)
also, Armalite only works with Armalite BCG and charging handle (I think)

They will fit, its just that DPMS and Next Level may have slightly different ideas on tolerances. They will fit together though. Its just that you might get a two MOA gun instead of a one MOA gun.

.308 ARs are not as plug and play like AR15s. Receivers are a major component in that.

The website doesnt specify which HG height it uses. Send them an email and find out.

Its not that you will.
Shit, you might end up with a .75moa gun. Who knows. But mixing and matching receivers is not a good place to start. Its not likely that having a gunsmith on board will make it better.

Your taking a bunch of mixed breed parts and trying to make them work. Generally, because there is a spec, everything works! yay!
But in particular on the reciever side of things, your much, much more likely to get tolerance stacking. On smalller parts the same % of runout would not even be noticeable.

Your build list will run, its just more likely to be a gamble than a sure thing like if you went with a matched receiver set as the base.

How are my reloads?
>>
>>30929076
Pulling back that charging handle looks gritty as fuck.
>>
>>30929088
There's a fair bit of tension yeah.
>>
>>30929076
Put more muscle into that charging handle, it's a rifle you don't need to worry about hurting it by being alittle rough.
>>
>>30929110
Its sheet metal.
The HK slap will peen over the tab if your consistently rough with it.
>>
>>30929110
I guess I could pull back a bit more forcefully. Cut the crap out of my hand one time doing it but thats because I didn't do it palm in.
>>
>>30929123
I meant pulling it back, you can see his arm struggling to get it back.

>>30929138
Get yourself some gloves, or if you don't like gloves I'm sure someone makes an aftermarket enlarged handle.
>>
>>30929172
I have some mechanix, they feel good enough and I practice with those for reload drills, had them off for video purposes though since I filmed on my phone.
>>
>>30929210
How tall are you?
>>
>>30929719
68in give or take an inch or two.

That rifle looks a little big for you, just saying.
>>
>>30930077
Yeah I mean an AK with a warsaw length stock is definitely more suitable for my height but honestly I think I handle the PTR-91 just as well. Besides I don't even need to use the paddle release. That said being a manlet is alright, Audie Murphy and Vinning both are.
>>

Im 6'4"
If I wasnt the crypto/sat guy, out past the FOB I would have been the designated bullet magnet back in the day.
Little guys like you are great machinegunners. Its just so hard to hit you guys.

Yeah isn't that cetme?
Is the tape supposed to mean anything?
I remmeber when I first got my AK I labeled them according to the types of ammo I was using in case I was caught in a pinch but abandoned the idea.

Black and shiny are target indicators.
Hit it with something flat to at least prevent it from being a damned signalling mirror

>I remember when I first got my AK I labeled them according to the types of ammo I was using in case I was caught in a pinch but abandoned the idea.
somewhat the same idea
i trinch load my mags for one
and i put heavy rounds in one and lighter rounds in others, hollow points and AP mixed in some. cheap rounds in some pricey ones in others and the tape just helps me keep track as i know what i loaded in what mag
