One of the new Desert Eagles with a built in muzzlebrake. Hard to find a picture of one though. Given the weight and the smooth recoil of a DE the .44mag is probably the most ideal caliber for it. Some people also have extended 10 round mags for it.

(picture related)
If you're talking about an expensive Revolver which is manageable but packs a bang... then you actually want a .460 Smith & Wesson.

The reason is because it also handles .454 Casull and .45 Long Colt. And with these calibers you can get the wide flat nose bullets that do so much damage.

The important thing being that .45 LC is something you could easily get ahold of and already packs as much firepower as a 357. But they have +P loads for 45 LC that are just ludicrous and the .460 S&W will be able to handle all of them.

If you do the smart thing and get it modified for Speed Loader use... you can now also use .45 ACP and .460 rowland. It might as well be like a higher caliber Medusa.
>>
Iv had a few 44's. Got rid of them all except the Marlin lever action.
Long barreled revolvers are a bit unwieldy and only useful for hunting...after the novelty wore off, I just use a rifle because it's better in every way.
You could make an argument for matching your rifle with your handgun in the same caliber. But I feel 38special/357 Fills the role better.
>>
>>30803744
Any 460 with more then a 5 round capacity? I was also under the impression that 45 acp had the same ballistics as 45 lc. Any thoughts?
>>
>>30803810
How does 357 compete with other modern calibers? I thought 10mm outclasses it.
>>
>>30803410

"Best" probably means "Really Expensive"

Also depends on what you wanna do with it. If you want a Grizzly Stopper then thats one thing. If you want something to snipe deer with thats another.

In my opinion, and ive thought about a .44mag as a shit hit the fan weapon (as a replacement for a shotgun)... then you want as cheap as you can go.

And the cheapest .44mag with a 4-6" barrel ive seen online is about $600.

How does this replace a shotgun as a prep weapon? one shot stop, one handed and handy if necessary, the ammo and the gun are both lighter than shotgun shit. Only issue is ammo replacement but if you stock over 1000 to start with, then you have enough to get another type of weapon later if the shit is hitting the fan to last that long.
>>
329pd mustard race. I'm going to get one someday, until then the 500SW will have to do.
>>
>>30803819
>6 round 460
As much as I wish it weren't so, no such beast exists.
However, variations of the Ruger Super Redhawk are available in 454 casull. Including the snub nose Alaskan, 5 inch barrel Toklat, and full size super redhawk which has like a 9 inch barrel.
All three hold 6 rounds.
>>
>>30803862
Ahh, the 329PD, a real dandy of a 44 special that can shoot 44 magnums if you want to know what being stabbed in the hand feels like.
>>
I guess I should clarify.
What I mean by best is more the "best to buy for the price" type. Not the "4000 dollar custom made hand cannon" type best.

Ruger 44 Carbine. Muzzle flip like a motherfucker, but barely any kick. 4+1, internal tube mag. With the right ammo at 50 yards, it makes 1 big ragged hole out of all 5 rounds.

Thats one of the sad things that AR cloners are missing. Ive seen ARs chambered in .40sw but the platform is also perfect for 10mm Auto also.

Even if it has to take an ugly-for-form slanted glock magazine.

Then again I would think Hi-Point would have been all over this shit with their Hi-Point Carbine... given that they have one that fires .45acp we're not talking about any differences in magwell capacity.
>>
By "best" I take that as most reliable, accurate, etc

I'd have to go with the S&W 29. I am no fan of revolvers, but I do own the 29, and it's fantastic.

I can't believe not a single one of you limp dicked faggots said the Ruger Super Blackhawk. Its just as strong as the Redhawk, which means glorious Buffalo Bore 44Mag+P+ rounds will be good to go, and its sexy as fuck. Who cares if it takes 10 times as long as a double action to reload, if you needed more than 6 rounds of 44 yer fucked anyways.
>>
>>30808625
Ruger single actions are great guns, especially for the money, but with my 5 inch barrel 629 or if I were to acquire a 329pd, I can put 44 specials in it and have a very viable carry gun.

No need to be upset brah, it's all about what you want to get out of the 44 Magnum. Me I'm looking for the do it all handgun like Elmer Keith wanted.

Super blackhawk.

Or a vaquero built on a sbh frame.
>>
>>30808625
>Just as strong as a (Super) Redhawk

It's really not. Close, but no cigar, which is why the .454 and .480 versions are 5 shot as opposed to 6 shot. But if you're loading a .44 that hot you probably need a bigger cartridge.

More to the point, a standard Super Blackhawk is notorious for smacking the fuck out of your knuckle with full power loads, so I can't imagine 300+ grain overpressure rounds being too kind to your wrist.

>Thank you, based Bisley grip.

I didnt say Super Redhawk, I said the Redhawk. 2 different guns. The Redhawk is only chambered in 45LC and 44Mag, and doesnt have as beefy of a frame as the Super.

Also it really matters how you hold the Blackhawk. I had huge buyers remose after taking it put the first 2 times, ot was just straight up painful to shoot. Did some research, realized that a plowhandle grip requires hilding the gun much more loosely than what I was used to. Now the gun is the softest shooting Magnum Ive ever used. It rolls up beautifully, right at the perfect angle to cock it again with my stronghand thumb. Its impossible to maintain a sight picture for follow up shots like a semi auto, but whatever. Everyone ive taken shooting has hated the gun until I got them to relax. Some people never learned and just spew shit about how crappy they are to shoot on the internet, but those people are dumb.
>>
I can't be 100% sure, but I think it might be a gun
>>
>>30809364
I'm engraving a Bird's Head Grip Vaquero exactly like the one in your pic right now. .44 Magnum, too
>>
>>30809842
Couldn't afford .44 specials to let your buddies shoot or wanted them to get the full fun of a magnum?

You'd think .44 spl would be cheaper like how .357 has 38's but mags seem cheaper than special in 44 even for reloaders
>>
>>30809842
The Redhawk and Super Redhawk frames are exactly as strong. The Super Redhawk's frame is bigger because Ruger wanted more area to thread the barrel due to malfunctions they had in 80's era Redhawks, which was actually solved before the Super came out. People have converted Redhawks to .454 without issue.

And yeah, the way people grip high recoiling revolvers is paramount.
>>
>>30810032
I've been wanting to put a 5.5 inch Redhawk 45 Colt barrel (or rebore a 44) and have it put on a Ruger Alaskan 454 that has had the frame extension cut off, to basically make a 6 shot 454 Redhawk.

These 454 Redhawk conversions you speak of, I'm assuming it's installing a different cylinder. Are they 6 shot cylinders by chance?

See the market is there!

I handled a few rhino's at the gun show a while back, and their are really light weight.

The 329PD is a solid option, except it costs $1100.

Yes. A basic 629 (model 29 is the basic large frame, 6 shot 44mag, 6 prefix means stainless steel) is about $650 and is a great gun. People dont like MIM parts and the Hillary hole, but 99% of S&W owners just ignore them and have no problems. The blued steel model 29 is a limited release gun now, and is only made sporadically in short runs, so is harder to get + more expensive.

I,m debating between a basic 4" 629 and a 4.5" stainless Super Blackhawk for my next gun. The Smith is more practical, but single action revolvers make my peepee hard.
>>
>>30810273
I've seen two conversions: one with the Super Redhawk's .454 cylinder, which is apparently drop in, and one with the stock .45 Colt cylinder rechambered for .454. I'd be a little weary of the second one due to the Colt cylinder not being as durable. That being said, the reason Ruger had to go with special heat treating of the .454 cylinder was not due to it being too weak for standard pressure rounds, but its inability to handle proof rounds which would've been at 70,000 PSI give or take.
