My biggest fear before I commissioned was going to the airport in uniform. For NROTC we had summer cruises, and generally had to wear summer whites. I hated it because people would thank me for my service even though I was only a MIDN. Was really awkward.

Even now as an ensign I don't use any military discounts. I don't feel like I've earned it yet. Maybe once I get my wings and have a deployment under my belt I'll feel comfortable getting my free drink at Firehouse Subs.
