Because they have more personality than any other dog I have owned. And I grew up with dogs.

Basically they aren't good for anything, and have health problems, but they have crazy friggin personalities.

Fucked if I know. I took her to the vet once and said "This is my dog." and the guy just said "Nuh-uh!" before sticking his credentials in a shredder and starting a life as a Buddhist monk. She looks like a honey badger knocked up a sloth, then had second thoughts and kicked the bitch down a flight of stairs. Fleas bite that dog and go vegan. That's the only dog you could leave unattended overnight in Chinatown and have her still be there in the morning.

Actually, we think she's part pit, part rotty and part airedale. But she's totally hideous.

My pair of 70+lb Aussie's are good home alarm systems. They let me know whenever anyone is within 3ft of the front door, but they know when I'm walking up to it and stay quiet.

She doesn't hate anything. Honestly, all she ever does is halfassed harass the cats and love on people. She'll alert if there's a strange noise or person about, but that's pretty much the extent of her activity. Which is fine. I have four kids with a 5th on the way. The last thing I need is a dog that's remotely inclined to attack anybody.

She's a couple of feet tall, about three feet long and weighs about 40lbs. Just an average sized doggo.

Just curious with everyone posting their puppers, what feed do you give them, store bought/self made?

pic related is my 7 month old pup that I'm feeding Blue large breed puppy. He is weighing in at 70lbs right now. I figure after my next few bags I may look at getting origen, but by then he may be eating me out of my home with that stuff.

vets I know use either sciencediet because of autism or purina proplan. it's expensive but not compared with the shit you're using. I think it's like $30 for a 40lb bag or something.

Forgot to mention, it's the Fromm Heartland Gold grain free. About $60 for a 24lb bag that has been lasting us a little over 3 weeks each. Better than $60 for a 15 lb bag or whatever Orijen costs. Although, if you want some dog food that wouldn't be too bad for yourself to eat if it came to that, Orijen is hard to beat. A coworker of my wife has a show line GSD that used to eat Orijen, and is now on Acana, his coat is absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, with reading how orijen comes by their meat products and produces the dog food, it is understandable why they charge so much. Especially in a large breed where you want to have the slow bone growth and proper Ca to P ratio in their feed. Also, with more dry foods adding in fish products orijen also makes sure that their fish doesn't have any ethoxyquin, which is a cancer causing preservative so it's nice not having to worry about feeding your dog things like that day in and day out.

Purina Proplan canned has been helping my dog out since he was having some bowel issues this past week. So in that I'll have to say it works, but the info on the can makes me sick to think I'm paying almost 5$ for so little food.

I had a Lab/Dalm mix that I was able to do that to as well. He was my first pup I ever had, but its a different story for what you can feed for growth development when your dog breed averages to 125+ which is what my current doggo is supposed to be. I think with his current size, he may max out at closer to 140, but I'll be keeping him on the leaner side of things until his major growth is finished, which should be in another 5-8 months.

Sorry, just woke up. She was getting the Blue Wilderness. My pup doesn't have any dysplasia in her family, but as you know the best way to prevent it is a good diet. If I had some medium to small breed I wouldn't care about diet so much, but it's either spend a little bit extra on food now, or thousands on surgery later. Those cheap brands have so many fillers in them, you're essentially paying the same amount for the same nutritional value when you need five 30 lb bags of Kibbles n Bits to equal the protein in a 24 lb bag of Fromm or Orijen without stuffing them with nutritionally worthless grains and carbs.

My pup's mother was big for the breed at 95 lbs while being svelte and healthy, and she is already pushing 60 lbs at 7 months. I seem to have gotten lucky though, as she seems to be mostly self-regulating. She usually won't eat her morning or evening ration all at once, but it's almost always gone by the next morning.

Had an 18 y/o Shetland Collie mix, he wouldn't eat anything except Walmart store brand dry food. And birds, that fucker used to spook them then snatch them in flight, like he was trying to challenge himself. He was a good doggo, super friendly, hated birds but loved squirrels. Found one sleeping with him in his doghouse one night, no shit.

Nice dog, and I envy you on the barking front. My pup barks all night, at pretty much anything that moves. It has been both a blessing and a curse, since he barks at illegals trying to cut thru our property in addition to barking at seemingly nothing while it being 3 in the morning. I hope he will simmer down as he gets older but if not then so be it.

I've been going by the suggested feeding amounts on the Fromm bag since it's a large breed formula in the first place and the nutrition was spot on for what she needs. Ends up being right about 4 cups a day, can't remember what that translated to in cals since it's been a while.

If she were 60 lbs she'd probably eat about 3.5 to 4 cups depending on growth spurts so about 1500 to 1700 kcals

Fromm is overpriced, if you don't need grain free you can feed Victor HiPro which is more like 1$/# if it's available, or just ordering it from chewies.com

Catahoulas are insane, my old one dug up an entire family of groundhogs and ate them. With three legs.
