I want a 9mm compact. I have a 380, wife has a 380. What do you guys have for recommendations? Why do you like/hate about the gun you chose. What defence ammo you recommend? Once I get a few recommendation I will head to fun store and see what feel best in my ham hands.

pick one

I have a Shield for this purpose, although it may be slightly larger than what you are looking for. My only complaint is that the slide release is stiff and so most of the time I just rack the slide manually.

I have a shield. I like the aftermarket it has like trigger upgrades, sights and magazine capacity enhancements. It is extremely soft shooting for a gun its size and it is also extremely affordable while retaining quality.

I don't like the stiff slide release, how you have to remove the sight to access the safety plunger, seating flush mags when closed requires deliberate and extra effort.

If it's only going to be carried on the belt, a Shield or PPS. If it's going into a pocket, I'd look at a Kahr (polymer frame, not steel). Of the major pocket 9s the original PPS is my favorite. Controls and grip make it feel much bigger than it is. The Shield is nice too -- lots of aftermarket -- but personally I find the grip a tad too thin front-to-back.

Load it with 124gr+P Gold Dots or 147gr HSTs and stop thinking about it.

How is the PPK for a carry pistol?

Ok.

The Bersa Thunder is 380, their 9mm is Thunder Pro and is a little bigger. Glock 43 is actually a good little gun. Ruger also has the LC9s but I've heard mixed things.

Op here. I was leaning towards the shield already. Just never had a chance to hold one. I have a body Guard, 380, I have always liked s&w gun price/quality ratio. Any thoughts on the nano?

Top quiality anon, imo the trigger is shit, but everything else is above par.

Is the LC9 Small enough to pocket carry? I have a guy who wants to trade me his LC9 for my H&R Model 732 and my Romanian TTC I'm wondering if its worth it? (I like to collect old out dated and weird pistols sue me) but I need something smaller than my SIG P220 to carry
