How you feel about Specops tends to come down to what you play shooting games for. Specops operates under the pretense that you're playing it to feel like a "saviour". If you play to feel like a hero, you'll find a modern retelling of Heart of darkness that really makes you think about the morality of shooters and question your own motives for playing. If you are just playing it to shoot cool guns at people, you'll find it to be a presumptuous preachy mess with shit gunplay and a 2deep4u meta twist that blames you for the railroaded actions of your avatar. Thats where I find the contention comes from as to whether Specops: the line was good or not, is really whether you are the target audience or not.

What are some babby's first wargames? Even Panzer General 2 is a bit hard for me to wrap my head around.

Keep at it. PG2 is pretty fun. PG1 is a little better and Panzer Korp is basically a remake of it, with some nice expansions.

Unity of Command is a great babbys first wargame too. AI is tough as fuck, but gameplay is simple and fun.
