If you look long enough, you understand that /k/ is often focused on the consumer part of guns. This is probably how a lot of 4chan is. Automobile technicians and engineers probably arent on /o/ all the time, so why would firearms engineers be?
A thread concerning actual complicated topics such as ballistics can often lead to insults rather quickly, instead of everyone working together to reach better understanding.

If you want to learn about guns, do it on your own. This site is used by the uninformed as well as the informed so don't always expect a good response to your question.
