This is the Luger my great grandpappy took off a dead kraut somewhere in France during WWII. Apparently the guy had just killed several of my great grandpas squadmates, so he took the Luger as a trophy from his body, then carried it for the rest of the war.
Rated in pristine condition, and it has the exceptionally rare Kü marks, of which only about 5000 pistols are known to exist.

What exceptionally rare or story-having guns do you own?

I've got a nugget (numbers match, but has izhevsk bow&arrow stamps instead of triangle) and a Kar98k (numbers unfortunately don't match, but has weimar republic eagle stamps in addition to the nazi eagles, factory S/243) which are both made in 1938 and both from the eastern front. Probably not at all that rare, but it never ceases to blow my mind that my grandfather likely held a very similar nugget nearly a century ago, and that very nugget has met with the mauser in poland as friends, only to be used against each other just two years later to kill each other.

Can post images if anyone is interested.

I have a 1916 dated G98 with matching numbers but the bolt, which is from a k98. The receiver has been refinished. It has Imperial German, Weimar Republic and Nazi German proof marks. The stock it cut in two right under the rear barrel band (something done by GIs when they brought back a trophy gun when they couldn't ship it back and it wouldn't fit in their bags otherwise).

Have a bringback P38 taken off a german police officer, and two non import marked enfieds, and an M94 swede without import marks

Nothing exceptionally rare, but it does have a mildly interesting story. My model 41 was bought new by a guy in the 60s. In the 80s, he brought said 41 to my favorite LGS to fix the barrel. Apparently he tried to thread it at home for dubious purposes, and fucked it up big time. The barrel was too far gone to save, so the shop owner sent it off to Clark Custom to be fitted with a new barrel.

Fast forward to a couple years ago, the guy dies, and the shop owner goes to his estate sale, where, curiously, the 41 is absent while all the other guns he bought at that shop are there. A couple weeks later, this spic comes in looking for "ammo for a Clark .22" The shop owner is immediately suspicious since anyone owning a Clark gun would know what it shoots, and tells the guy to bring it in to check out. When the spic returns, he confronts him about it, and basically says he could leave the gun there, or get the police involved. The spic had been one of a couple mexicans that was helping the wife of the original owner get the estate ready for sale, and he had pocketed the 41. Couple days later my buddy at the shop tells me what all they have gotten in recently, and I immediately get him to set the 41 back for me.

Why does it have "P08" on the side?

That's an import mark.

no pic cause wok but :
-steyr 1895 linear action : surplus from a WWII POW then surplus border patrol
-Winchester 1887 : original from 1893/4, comes from a hunting reserve, was the "under the counter gun" for a century basically commited to duck/goose genocide.
-Colt .38lc New navy /army came with a broken grip piece, wood seems smashed and have two notches (surplus from WWI french military police)
-French 1873 11mm revolver; french gendarmerie surplus from the 1910"
-Original webley MkIV : grandfather service pistol, spilled a jerry guts in the middle of an empty algerian road in 43", gifted to my great uncle.
-Old as fuck 16 ga coachgun : not a clue on his life
-burgess 1983 slide action shotgun : safe queen for a century.
-S&w hammerless DA .32 : killed more feral dogs, crows, squirrels and snakes in the 132yr of its existence than a team of park rangers in a decade.

one I will make a great pic, but today's not the day and most of those guns are scattered between my whole hasgun family.

That feel when patriotic yet reasonable EU hasguns.

Grandfather found this in the caves in Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima when he and few Marines went looking for souvenirs. Said he found it in its holster inside an open crate full miscellaneous supplies and "what looked like hand grenades."
Obviously upon retrospect it was an absolute dumb idea to go into those caves especially when the island had not yet been entirely secured.
What trips be the fuck out is what was it doing out on Iwo Jima of all places? Must have some story behind this one, the unfortunate thing is that we'll probably never know.

Here is an original, bring-back, double stamp 1916-1920, with unit marking on the front strap, DMW Luger P.08. The grips shown are replacements only for handling purposes, it has original matching grips. It also has an original magazine catch, but the one pictured is aftermarket because I was testing fitment at the time.

It is amazing to think it had gone through the First World War, then allowed to be used by the small army Germany was allowed post-war, and then into the Second World War, where it was later captured and brought back to the states.
The unit marking indicates it was used by a Pioneer team.

My grandfather gave me this Mauser 1914 claiming that it was smuggled in to the POW camp at Jefferson Barracks by a German soldier during WWII. You can kind of see the shitty "nazi eagle" on the grips which was supposedly carved by the prisoner. I know that JB did house a small number of POWs but I hesitate to even try contacting them to verify the story. My grandpa acquired it in a trade from a fellow police officer back in the 70s, but police don't always acquire things in the most legal of manners.

Are you retarded? "P08" is a factory mark. That's the kind of pistol it is.
>>
>>30780029
P.08 is a mark only seen on WWII Lugers. You won't see P.08 on anything before that, and you won't even find P.08 on all WWII Lugers.

Background aside, that guy is wrong in saying that is an import mark.

Not my story but thought it was a good one. It is a story told by my friend about his grandfather. His grandfather was in WWII and brought back a K98. His grandfather was out somewhere in France when he sees a German walking along a road. The german stops and sits down where the road crests a small rise and pulls out a sandwich then starts eating. My friends grandfather takes a good look at him and confirms he is german. He unslings his garand takes aim and pops the german right through the helmet. He walks up and confirms the german is dead and takes his rifle a beautiful example of a pre war k98. I would post a picture but it is a friends rifle and I dont have a picture of it.

I have a Glock that hasn't gotten caught on clothing or a holster and blown anyone's balls/fingers/femoral artery off yet.
That has to count as rare.
>>
>>30778439

Fairly unusual, since 9x19 wasn't exactly common in Japan at the time. Most imports were .32 ACP or similar because it'd at least been common amongst private-purchase officer's pistols for a couple decades prior.

Check for Dutch markings. The majority of Lugers the Japanese had were captured from the Dutch East Indies, something like 8,000 of them. Also, always beware of sakura marks, as the Japanese NEVER marked their captured Lugers as such; all such marked Lugers were marked postwar by shady U.S. dealers to deceive gullible buyers.
>>
>>30780242
Yeah, the research I've done says they're Luftwaffe. I'm not sure how it came to be in the German's possession. Maybe he bought it or stole it. All I know is that he was infantry, somewhere around Normandy. Grandpappy was medic at Omaha beach

Only somewhat uncommon, not super rare nor does it have a story. There are some online sources that say that there are only around 800 of these howa thai police carbines in the US. Sounds like bullshit to me though.

It seems like a lot of people don't give a shit about them though. The few I've seen have all been relatively low prices, despite how rare they pop up on GB or other auction sites.

There is a listing on GB of a bubba'd one right now for over a grand though.
