9mm and 38 did nothing. I gather that it is supremely durable, as it seems able to resist damage and even when gravely wounded it fought on like any dangerous animal.

12g slug, maybe. Think of it as a fucking tiger, which is both supremely intelligent and highly agile, it is singularly devoted to the destruction of human life.

This really is a question for TG, considering how supremely D&D like the entire thing was/is.

More Call of Cthulhu actually. The typical pattern for such critters is either "generally tough, possibly has strange physiology that doesn't bleed like a person, or has weird organ arrangements, and/or plant and mineral like features" such that they can take a lot of beating or just don't give many fucks if you shoot them, or they are actually semi-material/made up of exotic matter partially or entirely, causing a lot of damage to just not do much.

I'm going to assume this guy is probably the former, I.E. generally fucking tough, weird biology. Depending on the details you'd either just want to go as big as you could, or go more for burning, blowing the fuck up, or electrocuting. (All of which have worked to varying degrees on nasty shit in Lovecraft)

Just to be safe you'd want to either have backup for after you used the biggest gun or artillery you could find, or just go straight to "yeah, I have an Antitank weapon/20 MM cannon/White Phosphorous. Die Bitch".

Course, in some of the modern focused Call of Cthulhu source books or settings like Delta Green, some (most, actually) of the smarter and lucid Mythos creatures and evil cults know such things exist, and will be wary of such things and entirely avoid them, or take steps to smack you down and stop you. A lot of them are as smart or in many cases, far smarter than people, and there is a nasty band where they are both smart, but also lucid and actually concerned with doing stuff involving people.

Am I the only one who was surprised they busted out the 9mm smg's?
Either 80's hollywood influence or the show writers actually thought carbine m4's would've looked way out of place, I guess I underestimate tv/movies nowadays.

That said, I wonder how a modern security/government force would've handled that monster. We only ever see handgun rounds shot at it.
The trap + fire the teens caught it with seemed to have made it bleed, but it was strong enough to take out that whole armed security team.
>>

I fucking hate bullet sponge monsters.
This thing ate 6 shots of 38, had its leg broken in a bear trap, was lit on fire, then ate hundreds if not thousands of 9mm from the government.

Hated it. What a waste of what was for a few episodes a cool stalking predator.

The only thing that fucked it up, was fire. Flamethrowers man. It shrugged off all gunfire, and a psychokinetic blast that hit it like a mack truck.

Until she went all in, the only thing in the entire series that harmed it was fire.

>>
>>30772154
It's a Netflix mini-series, which means all the episodes were released at once; the next season will be an entirely different story (a sequel) and won't be coming for another year or two. It's essentially a 12 hour long movie.

>>30773659
I think it's the latter; it was absolutely peppered with 9mm, etc and was barely slowed down, if at all. Being lit on fire also only hurt it a little and being hit with a spiked baseball bat, etc did pretty much nothing. I think the fact that it took super powerful telekinetic powers to kill and the fact that it was made out of something that could break through dimensions means it was made out of something exotic / not exactly of this world.

In general order:
>can locate someone not within the vicinity
>can serve as a conduit to targeted person's speech and stream it through electronics/radios/etc
>slam doors
>force push someone hard enough to crack tiled wall
>neck snap
>arm snap
>levitate someone
>flip a van
>liquefy a dozen people's brains
>deconstruct or tear apart something bit by bit

I was doing that in the 2000s, negro. Can probably still do it here is Missouri.

Chlorine trifluoride loaded into a flamethrower. Or throwers, fuck going against that thing alone. Reacts with pretty much anything and everything, is a powerful oxidizer, reacts explosively with water, is hypergolic with things that generally don't burn, like glass, asbestos, concrete, gravel and engineers. It will positively, definitely kill a thing dead.

Fuck just burning, the only real way to unwant something is metal-fluorine fire.
>>
>>30774356
There were reflex/holographic/dot sights on some. Not that they didn't exist at the time, just unusual like Battlefield 1 revisionism.

That makes a big difference to me.

Two teams, one to hunt the thing in the dark zone and one team to mirror the movements in real life.

10 man each. Mounted M2 brownings and Mk 19 grenade launchers on trucks. 2 men with flame throwers, 1 guy with an M202 flash. The other 7 has 12 guages loaded with slugs.

Hit him as he phases between realities, give him no quarter.
