Any of you fuckers own one of these? I have been looking at these for a long time. I'm on the fence. What do you all think of them?
>>
>>30771883
I don't own one but I am going to go ahead and shot post becuase I can. They are based in Michigan, which is where I am, so buy one and support our economy, pussy.
>>
>>30771883

I have a TA11 on a SCAR 17s and, until yesterday, had a TA33 on an M16A4 clone. The TA11 is fucking nice, love it. The TA33 was ok, but the eye relief was shit. I was using it on a a fixed-stock build though, so I'm sure with an adjustable I'd have liked it fine.

No batteries, no variable magnification shit, just a bomb-proof scope. They're expensive for sure though.
>>
>>30771883

Which model? For what weapon? How much do you know about them? What range are you shooting at? What are your requirements? What budget?
>>
>>30771967
Would you put a side mounted RDS on yours? Seems like a lightweight solution to a variable scope.
>>
Their military contract jacks up the price for civvies, they simply aren't worth the price you would pay for them other than to be cool
>>
>>30771883
i own the 3.5x model. its heavy, but i fucking love it. an RDS makes it tits, especially for 3 gun
>>

My 5.56 AR
My knowledge is something that is building on them. I've used them in the past on my bud's platform, but never have I owned one.

100-400m

Budget is the going rate, 1,200-1,400 ish

>>30771883
I have a ta31rco. I really didn't need one but bought it on a whim thinking I would sell it if I didn't like it. Don't think I will ever sell it now.

I've got the TA33 on my 14.5" carbine, I love it. Definitely one of my best purchases
>>
>>30771883
Overpriced for sure but goddamn they are nice. Major gripe is eye relief.
>>
>>30772102
I would get one if I were making a clone build or just want a bomb proof optic for 12 years. Tritium will die and you'll spend 50% of cost for Trijicon to rebuild it.

Ta31s have bad eye relief but good fov and glass. Since you've used them you should know. It's a good and proven combat optic.

For 1-400m, another option would be a 1-4 or 1-6 optic. That way you have CQB options without needing to piggy back an RMR.
>>
>>30772246
>acog
>tritium

i thought this meme was dead
>>
>>30772246
I was under the impression that Trijicon would replace/fix old acogs that are worn out from overall lifespan.
>>
>>30771883
They're simple and bombproof. On bright days, the optic will wash out so get some duct tape or painters tape.
Tried an offset rds, wasn't pleased with it. Ended up piggybacking an RMR on it and like it.
>>
OP Here again. HUGE CONCERN***

What color recital??
Green
Red
Amber

So many people say green is nice, but then some claim amber is dominant
>>
>>30771967
>TA33 was ok, but the eye relief was shit.
is this a troll post, or you just retarded and probably farsighted?

>>30772283
they dont cover new trit inserts unless it dies within 12 years Y or G, 6 years Red, from MANUFACTURE DATE, not PURCHASE date. And by die, it has to meet their guidelines of dead, which I think is something like <25% original lumens given off. So basically no, they dont replace your tritium for free. But do keep your original receipt, because it is warranted for your lifetime, and will get you discounted repair rates.

I had the TA31F. It was cool, eye relief sucked ass though. Sold it and got an MRO and cash.
>>
>>30772261

Care to explain why it is a meme?

>>30772337

I hear everyone hates amber, and that's why they sell for big discounts.

Red chevron or green horseshoe is the way I've heard. If I were you, I'd just go Ta31RCO with the red chev because that's what's proven.
>>
>>30772367
>TA33 shit eye relief
Wait, isn't that the case though? I was eyeballing the TA11 becase of this.
>>
>>30772476

he prob meant ta31. ta33 is 3x
>>
Buy an Atibal

you're welcome
>>
>>30771883
I got a TA31F and I think it's pretty sweet. Bought it used for 800, I dunno that I would pony up 1400 bucks for one though.
>>
>>30771883
Yrmes i own a ta31.

I live it.

I have treated it like shit. The body is scratched the light pipe cracked. But the damn thing looks great and keeps on going.
I am building a nm rifle with it now.

What's so great about an illuminated high-tech peepsight that it justifies paying enough money to buy a whole nother AR...?

I'm not trolling. I don't get it. Somebody splain it to me.

I have a TA31 with a RMR on top. It's my favorite optic setup, but it's a major personal preference thing I don't care about chin weld to shoot the red dot, but some people have a visceral hatred of having to move their head up. In exchange for that, I get the benefits of a true red dot and the benefits of a magnified optic, all at roughly the same or less weight than most 1-4 or 1-6 scopes.
The TA33 is nice as well, it works well with the BAC and is only a few ounces more than a T1 setup.
I also recommend you buy a used ACOG, the tritium is basically useless, and buying a burnt out ACOG will save you a shit load of money. I got a TA31 for $600. Also, look for one with the mounting bosses, the older ring style mounts for RMRs work, but they're not the best design ever.

You should try one before you spend the money, though, ACOGs are love or hate.

Your ammo and your optic make your AR good, not your AR itself.

Why would you put a 500 horsepower engine in a sports car when you could just put a Toyota Carolla engine in it?

Michigan dude here from earlier. 734. Downriver.
>>
>>30771883
I don't own one but used one for 4 years. I liked it. They are pretty durable. When it's really bright out side the Chevron illuminates too much and end up shooting high but nothing a little Duct tape can't fix.
>>
>>30772476
No, not the case and the exasperation from correcting BS posts like that are why I pretty much left /k/ a few years ago and only come back occasionally.

The TA33 has some of most generous eye relief of any scope I own. The trade off is a narrower fov.
>>
>>30772491
Honestly, this, OP. Atibal makes good shit and you won't pay out the nose for mil contract prices.
>>
>>30771967
>No batteries, no variable magnification shit, just a bomb-proof scope. They're expensive for sure though.

/thread

acogs are for people who spend more time shooting than posting pictures to /k/
>>
>>30771883
I have a TA31F amber chevron. I just wanted one because no batteries, the Battle of Fallujah records and Trijicon RMRs were decent. Replaced the thumbscrew mount with a GDI R-COM because it's solid and Larue is a Nod sympathizer.

Pros:
>good FOV
>works day or night
>always on
>durable
>many accessories

Cons:
>tiny eye relief
>full sunlight makes the reticle huge
>hard to use in close range
>$900
>moderately rough handling cracks the light tube. works fine but my OCD flips out
>>
>>30772037
that's why SWFA fixed power optics are also 1200$, because of the military contract
>>
>>30772597
>peepsight
it's at least magnified. good glass costs money. you can argue whether or not an ACOG has good enough glass and features to warrant its price, but it is no peepsight.

I would rather buy a variable for that price but many people would call me dumb for that
>>
>>30772597
My thinking is that I'd rather have 1 rifle with good sights than 2 rifle's with iron sights.

Also, my rifle is twice the cost of the TA11, so I don't want another rifle anyways.

I own two and love them. I bought a TA33 for my SCAR16 and I actually just got my TA31 in this morning for my clone AR. I haven't had a chance to use my TA31 yet but I can say that the TA33 is the best optic I have ever owned.
>>
>>30772211

I looked through one and didn't see the reticule at all, am I supposed to focus on the target itself and not the chevron?

Owned 8 ACOGs total, 5 right now. They are worth every penny. Buy-once cry-once couldn't be more true for a fixed-power magnified optic.
>>
>>30771883

Shit eye relief.

Also there's no reason to own fixed magnification optics in the modern era of variable 1-6 and 1-8s.

It's called an MM02. Trijicon had a limited run of specialized mounts for the now-discontinued "special ring" ACOGs. To find that one, I just on top of eBay and GunBroker saved searches till one appeared. You couldn't ask for a better mount for it's terribly-specific application.
>>
>>30778995
That mount is sexy as fuck.

>>30771883
They are overpriced but good optics.
>>
Yes, it's a big dick to swallow, but it's worth it in the end.
