Is there any actual purpose or advantage to a fixed stock? Is it just cheaper? Or .001% less likely to be broken by Marines?
Building first AR soon and wanna know if there is any reason to consider a full stock. On a 20" barrel will a light, adjustable stock make the weapon feel front heavy and oddly balanced?
>>30770756
what sling is that
does it include those adapters
>>30770760
No fucking clue, pulled it off google images.
However it looks similar to slings issues in the Corps for a short period of time.
I like it for CQB purposes as well as storage, otherwise I keep it fully extended. Most people try to bring it down a notch or two which is pretty retarded imo.
>>30770756
You can put your comic books and cookies in it
>>30770756
A fixed stock is stronger. This is good when you have to mortar a round out of the chamber. It also provides a consistent cheek weld no matter where you place your face on the stock. My opinion is, if you have an AR 15 with a 20 inch barrel then it should have a fixed stock.
not necessarily cheaper. it is simpler atleast but i think the main draw to an a1 or a2 stock (if it fits you of course) is the rifle weight buffer. of course, it depends on the barrel your using.
>>30770756
Aesthetics mostly, some prefer it. As 90% of ar15 attachments its prefference.
>>30770785
This, fixed stock it is.
>>30770782
Yeah so I think for a shtf rifle a fixed stock would be kind of cool.
>>30770792
ha, Slightly more Marine proof.
>>30770795
20", with 1:7 if thats relevant is what I want. I'm not looking for some fancy magic lightweight barrel.
>>30770782
What is retarded about having stock collapsed by one or two? Throws off your stance or form?
>>30770782
>>30770847
I'm wondering the same. I am 6'4" and keep my BCM Gunfighter stock in the third position permanently on a 6 position tube. Nothing is retarded about that and LOP is largely personal preference.
So I notice with the fixed stock I could never perfectly square off with a target. I never could stand perpendicular without my left hand holding the rifle in an odd/unstable way. This mean my form/stance was shitty? Or that the stock didn't fit me well.
>>30770847
with a 20" (presumably) rifle length gas system, id go with an a1 or a2. of course, you can use a collapsible stock with the right buffer weight (or even vltor if you really wanted to) but fixed stock just looks better with a 20" upper.
>>30770756
Try buttstroking some nigger with your fancy-ass collapsible.
>>30770847
>>30770890
You don't NEED to do it, the only person I've known of that absolutely had to do it was a female who was like 5'4. I'm just going off the 11b discipline here, and I know for a fact that when I shoulder my rifle with my kit on, I have to work the buttstock into my kit so it gets into that pocket.
When we're trained to shoot targets on the move / standing we have our non-firing hand as far out on the rail as we can go with the elbow locked and wrist in line with the barrel. This creates the most stable platform. Bringing the buttstock down eliminates this and you'll be making shitty shots.
>>30770890
I'm 6'2 with giraffe arms. And like you said it's largely personal preference.
>>30770930
Winrar.
>>30770962
This... makes sense.
>logic on 4chan
>the fuck
>>30770893
Means you needed an A1 stock.
>>30770756
More real estate for stickers.
>>30770756
A fixed stock will distribute the recoil a little better and make for less of what people might call "felt recoil". It also has the advantage of being able to store a full fized GI cleaning kit inside.
>>30770893
The stock likely didn't fit you well. A good length on a stock ("length of pull") can be found by holding the rifle by it's grip and putting the butt of the stock into your elbow. What you are looking for is a stock length where the butt touches your elbow while your elbow is bent at a 90 degree angle. This is about optimal.
>>30770962
...you don't have arms?
>>30771079
Other good input. I need to go to the local fun shop and hold some ARs. I think I'ma just be a faggot and make an m16a4 replica though.
>>30771031
>>30770756
18-24 inch barreled ARs with a fixed stock and carry handle are the most aesthetically pleasing non fudd guns
Debate me faggots

Because I NEED Teletubbies, they're my homies, my crew..

Watch those videos and tell me fixed stock is good for CQB. M4 is much better and less unwieldy.
If you wear a vest or armor, you're going to regret the fixed stock. Only get fixed stock if you want to build a clone of some sort or a niche competition rifle, but not for a primary. Even marines are moving to M4s.
If you must have fixed stock, check out the ACE stocks that are light, or get a magpul PRS.
If you must have 20" barrel (again, not great for CQB), then make it a C7A2 type rifle with collapsible stock. Make sure you buy the BCM A5 kit so you can have the VLTOR buffer and rifle length spring. A5H2 = same weight as rifle buffer 5oz.
If you want a strong collapsible stock with consistent cheekweld and weight to balance out a front heavy rifle, then wait for the new UBR 2.0 that will work with A5 buffers.
>>30771229
teletubby guy, how come you dont trip anymore?
>>30770760
These are the slings my unit issues. Those aren't adapters, it's part of the sling.
>>30770756
Full stock holds cleaning gear.
>>30771031
Do those talk? I remember a Poe doll in the late 90's that said "faggot faggot. faggot faggot. Bite my butt." and "Big cock".

Almost forgot asgore. Undynes genocide theme is pretty based too.
>>30771546
You are the one God Emperor Trump warned us about...
>>30771267
I agree, I'm pretty short (5'7"), and I was always told to short stock my rifle when doing MOUT. So glad I became an automatic and got issued an M27
>>30771164
CZ 75
>>30771754
I'd play 'But the Earth Refused to Die' while HALO jumping into a warzones
>>30771127
Do it then
I'm almost done with a A2 clone myself.
even got a Lazer engraving company to illegally pout the Colt logo on mine.
rifle buffers are more reliable, tolerant of ammo, and reduce felt recoil compared to carbine. theres no fucking around with buffer weight theres one part and it just works regardless of gas tube length.
