PTR91 for 800usd Y/N?
>>30769852
Do it.
>>30769852
$800 new? Yeah, do it. Otherwise, what model is it?
>>30769920
same as the one pictured, has the welded rail fancy handguard
it's not new but it looks like it didn't see much use
>>30769945
A 91FR like that is worth $800 used. Go for it.
>>30769945
oh shit i lied, looks like there's no top rail so i'll have to get a claw mount.... i think that would make it a GI
would definitely rather have the welded rail for mounting optics
>>30770060
>i think that would make it a GI
The welded rail was introduced in like 2011; they made lots of GI and heavy-barreled F models before then. Got pics?
>>30770190
Ah, that's the 16" barrel "Classic Black K" model; full-length forearm with short barrel.
http://www.ptr91.com/products/PTR%20Classic%20Black%20K%20Legacy%20Model*?id=31
They don't make it any more.
>>30770060
i recently went through a similar thought process. ended up getting a ptr91 GIR.
keep in mind that mags are $2-3, so theres that
>>30770252
yep just got a text saying it's the K with a tapered match barrel.
still a good buy? i really dont want to drop 200 bucks on a claw or even have to use a claw to begin with :/
>>30770336
surplus furniture is also mad cheap too :)
i'm just gonna chuck steel case downrange with it because i heard it'll eat it right up with no issues and it supposedly destroys brass anyway
>>30770337
do it man
dewit
>>30770337
>still a good buy? i really dont want to drop 200 bucks on a claw or even have to use a claw to begin with :/
You can mount optics on it with a clamp-on rail rather than the claw mount, but if you're really set on using optics then probably should pass on it and get one with the welded-on rail.
>>30770360
thats my plan also
>>30770391
>>30770413
fuck it, I'm dewin it
>>30770488
noice
>>30770488
id prefer one with a paddle release, but it should be a fine rifle regardless.
my dad got me a cetme when i was a kid but i have fond memories of blasting away with that thing. guys next to me didnt enjoy it as much though
>>30769852
Go for it.
Good thread for this question.
How easy are these things to suppress?
>>30770488
Post pics.
>Weirdo
That's a strange way to spell "Yes".
But anyway, welcome to the retard club.
>>30770584
Just about as easy as any .308 I'd imagine. You do have the benefit of it being roller delayed blowback though.
>>30770584
>How easy are these things to suppress?
You need to change the roller locking piece to compensate for the increased back pressure from the suppressor.
If it doesn't have a paddle then no, you can pay a little bit more and get a new GI with a metal lower and paddle for 900.
>>30770691
How long is that process? No, I havent really looked into it so thanks for being google. I've been drinking and I have a hybrid on the way and live in SC so for the moment I really want a PTR.
>>30770764
>take BCG out of rifle
>remove bolt head from carrier
>remove locking piece from carrier
>remove firing pin and spring from locking piece
>install pin and spring into new locking piece
>replace locking piece in carrier
>reinstall bolt head
>reinstall BCG
>install suppressor
>>30770764
>I have a hybrid on the way
You gonna use the PTR to teach your wife's son how to shoot?
>>30770961
Sorry bud, not really sure what you're getting at here.
>>30769852
Was this PTR hanging by hooks over the counter by any chance?
>>30769852
If it has the paddle mag release, do it. If it doesn't, the price is still okay. See if they won't come down a little bit further, or at least throw some mags your way.
>>30770360
Can confirm, my raifu eats Tula and Wolf like no other.
>>30770360
Mine eats steal and brass, and it beats the shit out of both. It's a violent little thing.
>>30771779
Who would've guessed
>>30770567
Can you put a case buffer on the FR version?
>>30769852
Sure, why not. There is a local gun store around me selling that same model for between 1300 and 1600. I want to support local gun store but I see this shit way too often.
>>30771887
No; the rail is in the way. Would have to custom-make one to fit on/over the rail.
You can fit one with the short B&T clamp-on rail.
>>30771834
It's why I took her home!
>>30771974
Jisuri best gril
>>30772035
I eventually took her scope off. I'm considering selling it (Viper PST 2.5-10x44). She complained it slowed her down. Yes, she held a 1.5 MOA, but she's a battle raifu. She didn't need the "enhancements." So as long as she can vaporize a water bottle at 100 yards, she was just fine. Her report still rustles the Ichiroku fanboys to this day.
>>30772359
Is that bipod from RobertRTG? Is it worth the $80? I want one. And a parkerized trigger housing because the stock one is an eyesore. I might get her a friend later on. Pic related.
>>30771009
Dont ever talk to me or my son ever again
>>30772443
lovely meme
>>30772411
It was, and it is. I was paid the very day I got the email, so the decision was easy. It's easier to install after you remove the handguard. It's rock solid for prone or bench shots. I'd also get the SEF lower that matched your finish. Non-matching finishes look like junkyard cars to me.
As for the Voyager, I've lost my lust for it. The sights bug me, but I put form above function a little much for others' tastes. The SA58 21" is what I'd like to get, but I refuse to pay twice as much. There isn't enough rifle there to justify the ends for me. If you want the Voyager, go for it. There's something about the FAL that bugs me. I can't remember because I'm drinking my Knob Creek atm.
Don't let my opinion of the voyager dissuade you though. I'm just a fellow anon who loves guns.
>>30772622
God damnit. I just want to recreate the HS of Seisho Academy. Why are all of them besides G3 so expensive? $1200 for a kinda-FAL clone, $1500+ for a questionable M14 clone, $2000 for good ones. Astronomical prices for others like a BM59. Why even live?
>>30772734
I hear ya, anon. FALs and M14s are expensive to mill, and companies want to make money.
Why live? I celebrate my mediocrity. If I had the money to purchase all of them, I would. But then, I'd be bored eventually. Life is a journey. I procure one gun at a time. I have something to look forward to all the time; keeps me going.
Keep your chin up and press on.
>>30771779
>>30770360
>what's a port buffer
>>30772949
Th...thanks anon
>>30772989
Unsightly, and I don't reload.
>>30773000
No problem, bud. Just have fun with it. If you turn a collection into an obligation, a glorious thing will be reduced into a tedious chore. And one more thing; who's collection is it? Yours? Or the rest of /k/'s? Just be yourself.
>>30772734
They're expensive because people will pay the money, and people who are willing to buy a scary 'salt weapon will just buy an AR in whatever caliber they want
Why live? Art. No joke, but it isn't for everybody.
>>30772949
God damn you and your levelheaded, sensible words.
>>30773000
Sa/k/uya, put your trip back on you samefagging nigger.
>>30769852
I wouldn't
I Really hated mine
>>30773533
If I was Sa/k/uya I wouldn't have an affixation with PTRs, now would I?
