Beretta 92FS. I second and third that.
Served with one (M9), it saved my life more than once. Wish we would have had better mags though...some of the issued ones were shit and probably responsible for the only negative things I ever heard said about the firearm.
Carry one now, have a second in my vehicle, bought my wife a third for home defense.
A joy to shoot, reliable, smooth, balanced, feels great in the hand, and safe.

The problems with the M9 in service isn't so much the mags but that they've seen constant use and abuse since the Gulf War, they are about 10 years due for retirement/replacement.

Otherwise they're good, MecGar makes 18rd flush mags for them.
