Hey guys, I've been looking to buy a holster for my 1911. However I kinda want one that will give the 1911 the best looking wear marks. Something like pic related.

Anything leather?

Tbqh, if I ever got a 1911, I would get a tan g code holster with the fuzz

A lot of people reccomend kydex because of retention and not shooting yourself in the leg. So I lined the inside of my kydex with cloth tape. for that A E S T H E T I CK

Get a replica standard issue Web pistol belt and holster, world War supply has a bunch of that shit, that where I bought my luger holster. Idk who really makes all of this replica shit though , I see it at a bunch of different sites.

fuck that 5.11 belt. fuck it!!!

Does the trick for me as a shooting belt. Not a daily wear though.
>>
>>30762949
what belt do you daily wear/carry?
I'm having a hard time finding one thats worth the money. I feel like alot of the belts are just overpriced memes that all do the same thing.

Love me some 1911's. Also, kydex master race.

When I went to an LGS to look at 1911s I saw the guy behind the counter repeatedly forcing the slide closed on an empty mag. Is that going to damage the gun?

Wish I had a picture saved of that ruger sr1911 with the rail. That will probably be my next purchase.
>>
>>30763699
No. He's just pushing down the slide stop against the magazine. It's fine. Dropping a slide on an empty chamber is debatably bad for the gun, but that's different.

Ria 9mm single stack 1911 used for 375$ seem good? It's the billboard sign slide

You mean this guy?

I bought one a few months ago, have put around 500 rounds through it. Shoots great, haven't changed anything on it.

Admittedly I had an extractor issue with it, in that the extractor was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too tight, so had to bend it out. Has worked flawlessly since then, but apparently it's a known issue with some Ruger 1911s (hit or miss though and affects few, I have shot Ruger 1911s that friends own and they never had problems).

In any case, it's awesome, I love it. Personally I dislike the ambi safety cause I'm not lefty so it seems like extra bulk. The grips are actually pretty awesome and I wouldn't think about replacing them. Finish is excellent and not terribly common (black nitride, supposedly one of the most durable finishes for metal).

>I kinda want one that will give the 1911 the best looking wear marks
Leather does that, synthetic materials don't wear finishes nearly as much. With leather you tend to get what you pay for in my experience: a cheap Galco will look and feel cheap, but it'll work and it won't fall apart. A nice leather maker like Nightingale will cost you but it'll have a nice even finish and excellent stitching.

Milt Sparks makes great holsters
>>
>>30764027
Yeah buddy, I want to get a Milt Sparks 55BN for my 1911 and another for my BHP.

Until I get the money, though, who makes the best mass-produced gunleather? Galco? DeSantis?
>>
>>30764081
Neither. Buy a blade tech nano for 50 bucks.

Watch brownells for sales on milt sparks holsters.
>>
>>30763980
Sweeeeeeet. Just how I want it too ha. Thanks for the info! How much did you pay? My legs just offered to sell one for $719 plus tax. I've seen the finish on the ruger night watchman, but need a rail. I'd been opting for a more expensive Springfield, but I love that black nitride. At least extractor issues aren't a terrible inconvenience.

Yes. The blade tech total eclipse is good as well.
>>
>>30763135
Different anon, but my old Levi's belt holds up perfectly fine. Basically anything real leather with a decent thickness.
>>
>>30764120
I bought it NIB on Gunbroker for $715, which, for what it is, I think is an unbeatable price. You're looking at another $100 for a SA with a rail IIRC.

So for me it was another $30 shipping and $25 FFL I believe: $770 all said and done... would have come out to about the same if I could have found it at an LGS with TX sales tax.

No more pics, sorry, that was the only one I had on hand, gun is at home at the moment.

FWIW I've used mags from Ruger, Colt, CMC and Wilson Combat without issue and Winchester, Remington, CCI and Fiocchi ammo on it just to run it through it's paces (no steel case though, I just don't ever bother with the stuff personally).

If by some bad stroke of luck you get an extractor issue you'll notice it this way:

>FTF towards end of mag
>Should be able to tap or push slide closed easily enough
>Remove slide, slide empty case's rim between breach face and extractor
>It should go in and out fairly easily, and should stay in if you shake the slide around
>If not, pull extractor halfway out and bend it ever so slightly
>Repeat until desired
>Manually cycle some dummy rounds if you can to verify

Good luck anon, enjoy your purchase
>>
>>30764099
Word! Thanks, looks like a good option.

Are blade tech OWB holsters decent too?

What I'm hearing you say is, don't dick around with cheap leather, if you want leather get top quality, like Milt Sparks. Am I picking up what you're putting down?
>>
>>30764218
You are picking up what I'm throwing down. I had a galco summer comfort before the Sparks and that thing straight up sucked.

The total eclipse can be configured for owb but I prefer iwb. Make sure to use blue lock tite on all screws except the tension screw.
>>
>>30763135
I wear a 5.11 nylon belt for basic daily wear, in a casual setting with an untucked shirt it's not terribly obnoxious looking. If I had to dress up I'd get a nicer-looking belt. Still kinda want a nice leather gun belt just because, but the 5.11 works perfectly fine. Was only around 30something bucks.

>>30764172
I could be mistaken, but iirc what makes a basic leather belt an offical "Gun Belt(tm)" is that it will have two layers of leather. The thing is, with only one strip of leather, no matter how thick, it will stretch, and therefore roll over. With a second strip, it won't. Think like, corrugated cardboard, or something.

Nylon "rigger's belts" or "instructor's belts" will be stiffened by some other means.

Double horse hide with internal stiffener. Beltman.net.

This is how you make full size pistols disappear.

Best 1911 for under $1000?
>>
>>30764402
Springfield Armory is generally considered the best in the $800 - $1500 range

Other notables are Sig, Colt, Ruger, but SA has the best track record of the bunch and aside from Ruger they're the best bang for your buck. It's hard to go wrong with SA.

>>

>>
Funshop has a CZ 1911 for around 780$. Should I? They're apparently discontinued. Motherfucker was absolutely full of oil, but it had great fit and trigger.

My choice is probably between that and a 2 tone colt 1991. They overprice the colt by a longshot at 899$ plus tax(about 970$), but I can find one for 880$ including shipping and transfer online.
>>
>>30764780
CZ 1911s are supposed to be pretty good, $780 sounds nice if it's in good condition.

I would pass on anything series 80. I have an M1991A1, it's a fine gun, reasonably accurate, never had a single failure, etc. But the extra BS they add in there is just that... bullshit. If you ever detail strip it then putting those extra bits in there is a PITA.

As far as what people say about how series 70s triggers are better, that too is BS-- so don't let that affect your decision.
>>
>>30764844
It's NIB still absolutely filled with oil.

I could feel the difference in the 1991's trigger. Still a great trigger, but not as good as the others. They appear to be the only 2 decent 1911s with the classic style I can find unless you want to talk about those shitty 400$ ATIs and Turkish ones.
>>
>>30765035
>I could feel the difference in the 1991's trigger
The trigger itself isn't the best 1911 trigger in the world, but the argument is that the extra safety that is part of the whole trigger assembly makes a difference on the trigger itself-- which I personally think is bunk. You could put in two identical match triggers, polished and tuned by a gunsmith, into a series 70 and a series 80 and I personally don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference.

Just my $0.02
