literally pointless. soldiers at 1.5 km and more are ALREADY 3-4 pixels. it wouldnt literally matter if your pc could handle 10 km draw distance, even if you had 4k you cant SEE soldiers past 4 km. they would be less a pixel anyways. and if your gonna jet, you might as well play ANY other sim flight game.

if your rig can handle 10 km view distance, your better off trading it for 3 screens for larger fov

hes not joking. running both on my machine, youd think arma 2 would run better, but the difference is really 5-10 fps. the graphical difference and the few, but really nice additional features makes it barely worth running old arma outside of community.

to put into perspective how badly this game is programmed and optimised, they once hyped up for like a month an incredible new feature that hadnt been in the game since the first version, about how much you cant wait to hear what it is

reminder that because arma has bizarre optimisation, and it offloads shit to your cpu instead of your gpu, arma 3 tends to run better if set to max settings ( cept draw distance. basically turn everything the fuck up cept that, and youll end up with the same frame rate as low settings )

Silent Hunter 3 nostalgia is blinding you a bit, other than the obvious graphics gap it has between the others, it suffers greatly from having to manually place each crewman into each birth, the automated shifts alone in SH4 make it better than 3, not to mention all of 3's ships were already ported into 4 anyways. There's nothing stopping you from playing battle of the Atlantic in 4 OR 5.

also, while sure, itll look prettier, what you REALLY want is the terrain...whatever the setting is, that makes distant terrain not the lowest/least poly versions. highly technical diagram related. the lower your settings the less "accurate" terrain is, and youll get misleading information like so

Now that you say Arma 3 and Raven Shield I remember there is this really cool mod that lets you plan your movements in advance just like the planning stage in Raven Shield just not as in depth.
Its pretty useful if you have made your own little scenario and you want to operate smoothly... or as smoothly as the Arma AI will allow you to.

Get the U-boat add on for 4, then you have either Trigger Maru mega mod, or Real Fleet Boat, for the Pacific theatre, (I prefer Trigger Maru). And then you also have Operation Monsoon mega mod for the Atlantic theater. You mean like almost literally every other game ever made on PC? But please, do go find me literally any other game with as complex ballistics, scripting and AI as ARMA 3, all on a map 270sq.km in size.
Besides that, there's very good reason games don't use more than two cores and the second core is JUST used for audio 99% of the time. Programming to use multiple cores is vastly more difficult and expensive, especially for something as dynamic as a video game.

Good taste, I fucking love this game. If you play Project Zomboid, Cataclysm is similar in a lot of ways but has more of everything and no graphics. Plus there isn't a character class that lets you be a crack addict in Project Zomboid.

It's really cool, you reload your guns either from magazines or shot by shot if you have no spare mags, means that you have a reason to keep more than one gun of each type in the apocalypse instead of just carrying one because pulling out a Glock after your M9 goes empty is a lot faster than refilling that entire M9 magazine round by round. Also means that weapons that have common magazines, like Glocks, are better and weapons that share magazines, like the M9/Cx4 Storm are pretty cool too. Only issue is that I haven't found a way to put 2 kinds of bullets in 1 magazine, which means that you cant alternate slugs and buckshot in shotguns for example. You can also handload rounds which is neat.

God tier taste, friend. C:DDA is the most /k/ tier roguelike ever. Only wish it had body part targeting a la dwarf fortress, only not to that level. They have limbs for both the enemies and the character, so I don't see how it would be hard to add such a thing.
