Yes, we have two classes of firearms license. One for Non-restricted (hunting rifles, shotguns.) and an additional endorsement for restricted, which is pistols and cool shit like AR's. However all restricted are limited to 10 rounds so the magazines are neutered.

You can also only fire them at a range. Nonrestricted you can shoot in the woods on Crown land. There are additional storage and transport rules as well, pic related.

The process for getting them isn't much more complicated, but you have to provide a few references and they call you on the phone to see if you sound like a terrorist or a spaz.

I'm waiting on my application. It takes about 45 days.

with that said I got my Glock 19 before I got my Luger, so I don't know, I actually carry the Glock 19 and I'd say it's a good first handgun because it's inexpensive and it can do everything well, and then after having a Glock 19 for a while you can decide to get another handgun that does specific things better (Like, I want something smaller for EDC because even though it's easy to conceal a Glock 19 it is noticeably bulky)

Would you recommend someone dropping $150-$160 on a Hi Point 380 or 9mm and owning it in two weeks or saving up for something better but not owning it for six months?

It's totally legal and not unheard of to use guns in self-defense. The criminal code authorizes deadly force if you reasonably fear death, serious harm, or sexual assault.

Plenty of people have shot intruders, and "improper storage" charges have never once stuck in a case of justified homicide as it's near impossible to prove the homeowner didn't open his storage and load his weapon during the incident.

If you want a gun for home defense, buy a safe, You can store a weapon with loaded magazines next to it inside the safe, just open, load, and you're good to go. Or disengage the lock before you go to bed to save yourself that one step.

I got my Beretta M9 for 600 out the door (including background check fees and all).

I really want to get a p226 legion but I feel like I should get another gun before that just don't know what yet. I was considering a p09 but I'd like a steel or aluminum frame

I'm currently trying to find either a good condition CZ75 or new 75b. Trouble is they're not commonly found at gun stores around here, so I've been looking online. The only surplus 75s I see have a shit ton of holster wear on them unfortunately.
