Currently, I carry an assortment of Glocks. I have a g42, g26, g19, and a g41 and g21 for my Truck and bedside.
I do this because they all have the same grip angle, same aesthetics, same ergo, and so my point of aim during training remains pretty much the same. They are also extremely reliable, blah blah blah.
My question is simple: Am I missing out? I have seen plenty of excellent 45s from HK, FN, and others but I do not know if it makes sense to buy one.
I also don't know if my rational for staying completely within the Glock family makes sense. What I want is an extremely robust, full-sized pistol for use as a defensive weapon in my truck. The G41 and G21 seem to fit the bill, but I like to re-evaluate my situation ever few years and see what other people think.
Any recommendations? Any thoughts? I'm I over-thinking this shit or am I missing something big?

If you like Glocks and shoot them well then there's nothing wrong with that. Glocks are good pistols. But there's nothing wrong with stepping outside of the box and trying out an HK or Sig. Worst case scenario is you don't like it and you can resell it.

Try a good 1911. Good luck going back to Glock triggers.
>>30749403
You sound like an OCD-obsessed autist.
>>30749403
Glock is hardly 'high end'.
Look again at the H&K and FN selections if you want high end. Otherwise, get the Glock, but don't call it high end.

I have a Wilson and a Les Baer. They are fantastic, and used to be my mainstays... but the capacity bothers me and I dislike the grip angle. I shoot them for pleasure now, not defense.
>>30749459
Pretty much.
>>30749474
What is the difference between what you consider high end and a Glock, and why does it matter? Not trolling, serious question.
>High-end
>Glock
You mean "meets the bare minimum of reliability and performance to warrant government contracts".
Consider the following,
1911 with the features you like
CZ 97
Sig P220/P227
>30749497
>Wilson and a Les Baer
I'm calling shenanigans. The people I've known to own Wilson, Ed Brown and Les Baer's are the most rabid of 1911 fanboys and sure as hell don't bitch about the grip angle. That is unless you went full retard with Daddy's money one day.
From a self defense standpoint? No, you're not missing anything and there is a lot of practical benefit to staying with one brand or even one caliber.
From a hobbyist standpoint, you don't know what you like until you try everything.

No difference other than price when it comes to striker fired funs
You can make a good case for quality and function in high end and low end guns in hammer fired, but virtually all of the striker fired ones are made of the same plastic, function the same, and look the same
A VP9 is essentially no different from a Glock other than price and brand.

>A VP9 is essentially no different from a Glock other than price and brand.
Except better ergonomics, ambidextrous controls and a trigger vastly superior to factory Glocks. I don't know a single serious Glock shooter that hasn't swapped out the trigger.
>>30749551
Call all the shenanigans you want. I'm looking for the best full size 45 from a functional standpoint. 1911s are fucking amazing for what they are, but modern technology provides better weapons.
>>30749433
This is what I'm doing. I wanted to buy another Glock, perhaps a 30, but my only other handgun is a XD. Think it's time I get something with a hammer. Trying to decide on a P220 45 or USP45
>>30749497
Ah. Maybe try an FNX-45 or an HK USP-45?
>>30749688
pretty much this
i have a nighthawk grp and a korth prs but i know the glock 41 is always be more reliable
>>30749618
All of those are subjective and it doesn't cost ~$150 (price difference) to change out a connector on a Glock
>>30749769
Yet many Glock fags will gleefully drop hundreds of dollars worth of aftermarket parts into their guns.
Unless you're a broke nigger you'll in all likelihood keep a firearm for the rest of your life. You'll never miss the 150-300 dollars difference it takes to get a different handgun you'll probably be happier with in the long run. Most of spend more than that on Steam in a year.

Was talking with a dude that works at my local funstore on friday, and he mentioned that the RSOs he knows say that Glocks tend to basically shit the bed at the 20k round mark. Eventually the rails fall off or some shit due to wear on the polymer parts. Given that, if you shoot frequently, you probably shouldn't upgrade your Glock too much. After all, it's just going to get replaced ever few years.
>>30749806
If you're buying a Glock, why would you even bother changing it?
The whole appeal of that brand is that you just don't give a shit
>>30749850
Most polymer guns shit the bed at that level, but 99% of people will never have that problem. That's roughly 4k worth of store bought ammo through a single fun.
>>30749885
Because most people purchase Glocks because it's 1. become the American default 2. Muh LEO contracts so it must be good. Glocks are nothing to write home about. Neither are most strike-fire polymer handguns for that matter.
>>30749885
That's 100rnds a week for a bit under four years, or as I like to call it: normal usage if you care about being proficient with your weapon of choice.
>>30749729
Yeah the FNX-45 looks very appealing. Going to have to see if I can find one to fondle.
>>30749806
I have found that modification ad absurdum is a trait gun owners share across virtually every modifiable platform. From personal experience I like to keep things as close to stock as possible. My AR has a 2-stage trigger kit and an optic. My Glocks have night sights. My M1A is 100% stock.
Every gun I've modified the fuck out of has turned out shitty, so I stopped modifying my guns and started shooting them more.
>>30749769
>>30749850
Every gun wears out eventually. A stock Glock will last a very long time, and 20k rounds is more than most people will shoot. Shit, if you can afford 20,000 rounds you can afford another Glock.
>>30749931
>My M1A is 100% stock.
Well at least you're not a complete heathen.
>>30749507
I am who you are replying to, and yes, >>30749594 has a point. However, when talking about Glocks vs USP, HK45, or FNX/FNP, the latter choices are what would be considered 'high end'. Honestly, the VP pistols are the Porsche Boxter of H&K handguns. Cheaper alternatives to the usually expensive products made by a company.
>>30749403
id go for the hk usp 45 tactrical bes t you can get or the hk mk 23
