Alright /k/, my grandfather passed this week and we found this among his belongings. It's obviously seen better days, but I come with 2 questions. How can I clean it up without damaging it? Can you help me identify it?
The manufacturer's name is stamped on top of the gun, but is very corroded. My best guess is "HORTLANN" or "HERTLANN", with a second word that isn't visible. Those didn't bring up anything helpful on Twitter. Can you guys offer any guidance?
according to this it's a weapon, possibly a foregrip.

Lol
Hermann is more plausible. Hermann Weihrauch is a German revolver manufacturer.

It looks like many of the pocket revolvers popular from early 20th century shame its missing its hammer

Webley bulldog with a folding trigger?

"I fear no tramp."

This is a great match. Where were Webleys made? Cleaned up the stamp a bit and it reads "Hermann Neu Ulm." This seems to be a place in Germany, but i believe the Webley is English.

Feels bad living in such cucked days. I would have loved to live in a day and age where I could buy guns through mail order and carry them freely without controversy.
Imagine ordering automatic weapons out of a Sears catalog. Must have been dank.
Story goes back in the day before ww2 there were a thousand little machine shops in europe making cheap revolvers. Like it could be a bicycle parts subcontractor and they'd make a cheap revolver between orders to drum up sales.
So it's not valuable if thats what yoh were thinking.
For parts try

If any one has parts, they will.

Didn't plan to part with it, but thanks for the background info. What was the quality like on these things? I can't imagine them being reliable, although I guess they're simple enough.

Thanks. I might see if I can find a hammer.
Try electrolysis to remove the corrosion.
Youtube has videos showing you how.

just clean it with oil.
doesn't look like it would be safe for modern ammo.
if there even is modern ammo for this.

Why would you search twitter of all places?
