So I was operating in NYC this weekend. Has anyone ever seen one of these armored Lenco pickup truck style Bearcats?
>>

now i have

>I was operating in NYC

I highly doubt that anyone has operated in NYC since George Washington. Maybe Bernie Goetz.
>>
>>30745120
I thought it was some one off custom, but, it looks like they were just announced
>>
>>30745129
>Maybe Bernie Goetz
This. I haven't lived there in years but I can't image what years of that cocksucker DiBlasio has turned it into
>>
>>30745129
Colin Ferguson did some operating up there.

>Long Islanders thinking they count as NYC

Typical.
>>
>>30745181
He boarded the train in NYC and waited to do the shooting until the train had crossed out of the city. His reason for doing it when he did it is as odd as the shooting.
>>
>>30745321

Probably because he hated Long Islanders even more than he hated cityfags. Can't say I blame him.

Aight then.

So right now I have an 09 Nissan titan pro4x, it's got 35s and all that cool shit and it's served me well but I fucked the trans up innawoods so I'm about to go trade it in

I'm either gonna go get a newer single cab 6.7 powerstroke, get it deleted with a 6" lift and 37s, and a flatbed

Or a '14 Tacoma I've been looking at, set it up with mid travel suspension, bed rack, CVT tent, snorkel, winch bumper, etc. Set it up overland style.

Which do y'all think would be better? Both have a lot of advantages, I'm just really caught up on which to get. Texasfag btw, I live literally in the middle of the woods which is why I need such redneck tier shit

A lot of the PMCs and even ISIS seem to go with the toyota tacoma and hilux over other pickups, seems to work pretty well for them at low cost, lot of parts available if repairs needed

ford doesn't get much military use from my understanding

If you want to take part of the circlejerk get a ford, otherwise that tacoma will serve you fine
>>
>>30745540
I would get a 2 door jeep Rubicon and fucks with that, but storage for all my tools and shit for work would be too limited. Plus I have a boat and 4 wheeler I have to pull from time to time and I don't think a jeep on 37s would like that
>>
>>30745351
if they replaced pokemons with criminals or terrorist I would try it. otherwise that shit is gay man.
>>
>>30745582
what truck is this
>>
>>30745582
are you the anon that owns this?
>>
>>30745589
The reason I like the ford is that it's a diesel, so the engine itself *should* last longer, plus storage is easier with diesel. Plus I could siphon from an 18 wheeler easily. Also I could go much bigger with it, and with the flat bed I could strap down whatever the fuck I want on it. I could also hook up to whatever massive trailer I want and pack it absolutely full of shit, and take it to my bug in spot.

You know it. The only thing better than owning such a massive truck is being able to share it with people.

This thing is bigger than the M35, and M54 trucks. It sits just about as tall, sometimes taller, than most semi-trucks.

For right now, just cruising around. In about a year it will be useful when I need to move, since I can tow my car with it and throw shit in the back.

When I find some reasonably priced troop seats, I will be hauling my coworkers to launch on Fridays, and when I get the tarp, I may take it camping.

Where are you launching them to?
>>
>>30745779
I haven't done any fording yet, but it has the snorkel intake and working CTIS, so it should be able to make it. The intake sits above the cab, so you'd drown before the truck does.

The new JK series of jeeps are complete garbage. Nothing but electrical issues and mechanical failures.

Do not buy a jeep if it does not have the 4.0L Inline 6
>>
>>30745825
Sweet. I haven't done a whole lot of research in them but I've seen them for sale. I got a boat thinking it would get me wherever I wanted to go, wasn't satisfied so I bought a can am outlander 1000 and snorkeled it thinking that would do it but that didn't cut it either. Now I gotta go for the deuce
>>
>>30745825
>you'd drown before the truck does
Fuck yeah, I want vehicles which will outlive me
How does the turbo sound on that 8.3? Are you planning on doing the maintenance yourself?
>>
>>30745902
This is a step up from a deuce and a half, this is a 5-ton. It is a bigger and badder machine that puts the deuce to shame. The M939 series trucks are really designed with extreme terrain in mind- what with the massive 48" tall super-singles, CTIS with settings for highway, cross-country/offroad, and sand/mud, a snorkel intake, hi-low transfer case, and 6 wheel drive.
>>
>>30745935
The turbo sounds wonderful. Nothing quite beats it's incredible whistle and pushing a big black plume of smoke from the stack while taking off.
I do plan to do my own maintenance. I have already accumulated 15000+ pages of technical documents and manuals for the truck. As luck would have it, the truck was VERY reasonably priced and everything works. The previous owner already did fluid maintenance at the end of 2015, so that relieves a big burden. The only big burden is the tires, which aren't cheap.
>>
>>30745967
I just haven't seen any 5 tons for sale around here. I assumed they were pretty similar, what are the differences between them?
>>
>>30746022
The M939 5-ton trucks are much newer. As such, they have nice features like an Allison 5-speed automatic transmission, CTIS (some complain about this), power steering, and while lacking a multifuel engine, it does feature a Cummins 8.3L diesel. There is also a non-trivial size difference between the two vehicles. Since you still see these trucks in use today, there are parts available for them, or compatible parts that can be found at auto-parts shops.
>>
>>30745658

I love ford products. I use ford products daily from my Focus daily driver, to my F150 on the weekend. I use F350/450s and E350/450s at work.

Ford and Diesel after the 7.3 is no go.

You are a tard if you think Ford has a decent Diesel Pick up truck....
>>
>>30746178
Different anon here
I've read about people getting 1 million miles out of their 7.3 powerstrokes. Are they really that good?

Also, what makes the new 6.7 powerstroke so bad?

As we say in Australia:

>Four wheels and a board, you've got yourself a ford.
>>
>>30746109
Multifuel was something I was really wanting but it might be worth it to have something I can get parts much easier for. I'd have to really think about which one to go for, even though automatic and power steering also sounds pretty damn nice.

>>30746178
Idk man, what really made me want a 6.7 is that my friend had one and has over 500k on it from cross country trips. I know the 6.4s are garbage but why not 6.7?

As much as it pains me to say get a mexican truck (RAM), or a chinese motor company (GMC). They just have better products when it comes to 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

The cummins motors, the allison transmissions. Blows anything Ford does right out of the water, and it shows.

Don't think Ford is going to make a strong comback either. There is a reason they are deleting their ambulance and rescue and service options. There is a reason they are getting out of the dump truck market. They don't want to build those kinds of trucks. I feel bad for the ford enthusiast who buys one thinking it has the same love and care that Ford puts into the 150s and the cars (which now that Ford is a global company and not divided by continents, even in the US the car market is where they are spending all their time).

If its not turbo and not V6 or below and its a ford product, its probably gonna suck moving forward.

Believe me if you will, don't if you don't. There is a reason we are phasing out our Ford products at work. They suck for fleet vehicles and their diesels are turds that can't haul.
>>
>>30746421
Well hearing that I may move to a single cab 6.7 cummins, or a 5.9 if I can find it. They'll be about the same price for a low mileage one anyways.

That is, if I don't go for the Toyota

Toyota. I have a Ram 1500 Laramie Crewcab 5.7 bed and at times I wish I had something smaller for innawoods use. The Tacoma seems to have all the function and a bit of the finish and I think I would go that way. Daily Driver is a 2015 335i Msport so I would get a canopy too. They aren't too expensive and easily tote the neighbors puppers. I also made this decision after I looking at Jeep wranger unlimiteds as well. You get better road performance as well from the Tacoma. Best overall all climbing will come from the Wranger though. Best overall balance says go Tacoma.

Lenco X3

That'st just Lenco's attempt to corner the market in the anti-terror domain. It made sense for anti-terror operators worldwide to get a beefy American platform for the MARS system and hostage extraction, possibly forced entry.

This overpriced thirsty beast with an open ring mount makes less sense. Better off buying inconspicuous Toyotas, Fords. I've seen Ford F550s with MARS system too.

Why don't you just drive a leveled truck on 33s? It'll do everything and you won't be a fag.

>>30746240
I've owned the IDI 7.3l and the DI 7.3l. It was and to some extent still is a great motor. The trouble is it has largely been fetishized like 90s BMWs to be some miracle motor. The reality is the last ones were made alost 15 years ago and technology has progressed significantly since then.

I still own a 6.0l, and all it does is pull my boat. After the egr, headbolts, injectors, oil cooler, tune and a few grey hairs it's been a solid engine that has gone from 65k to over 330k with no major work. It just took a few grand to get it there and more heartache than I wanted.

I've also put about 45k on a company owned 6.7l and also think it's a solid motor, not sure where all the hate comes from other than the 6.0l and 6.4l screw-ups and people are just assuming the same about the 6.7.

Personally I don't think I'd own another diesel. Get a solid gas v10 or v8 mated to a 6 speed tranny and 4.30 gears and never look back. You'll most likely save money after you consider the premium on diesels, expensive parts and expensive maintenance. And you'll get a truck that pulls just as hard.
>>
>>30745582
are those manual trans or auto? also how many miles and how many shekels did you give for da truck
>>
>>30751399
Automatic- driving it is basically no different than driving an enormous pick-up truck.
When I picked it up, it had something like 11,300 miles and 650 hours on the engine.
