Britbong who just moved into his first non-rented home (for non bongs this means I can freely drill into walls to install a gun safe without a landlord getting pissy). In the process of filling out my first FAC.

In addition to a nice Lee Enfield I've found locally and the pipe dream Saiga, I want something for some cheap semi-auto .22LR plinking.

I 've slept on it a few times butI I really want an MP5SD in .22LR. (pic and link related).

http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/heckler-and-koch-mp5-sd6-22-lr

Is there anything /k/ can tempt me with instead?

Get a 10/22 or something. Those clone guns are often pot-metal pieces of shit.

>source
I own one. HK has no affiliation with it besides their name on the side and it's made by walther usually (Lel) and imported by umarex (airsoft)

Well that's disappointing. Thanks for the info.

Didn't know that shit was legal in Britbongistan.

Anyways, I bought something like that, a GSG522 because MP5 variants are illegal where I live. I like it a lot. It's fun to shoot, and you can take off the rubber grip and put on rails. Not to mention it already comes with a rail on top for a sight. Just make sure you use high-velocity ammo.

Don't discount a 10/22 if you can get one there, though. Hella fun to shoot, accessory options are endless, and it'll eat any ammo you feed it.

>Didn't know that shit was legal in Britbongistan.

We're allowed semi auto in up to .22LR with a barrel above 30cm. Things shorter than 30cm are considered pistols and not allowed in semi auto outside of Northern Ireland, things with a barrel longer than 30cm is considered a rifle and limited to manual action over .22 rimfire.

However we can have shotguns of any gauge in semi auto with removable magazines which is a bit odd but i'm not complanining.

We just ban guns by name here. For example, "AK type rifles" are illegal, no matter who makes it or what caliber it is or whether it conforms to assault weapon laws. But if the letters "AK" aren't on the receiver, you're golden. Also, semi-auto shotguns can't have pistol grips...

What about getting an AR type in .22?
>>
>>30742371
>What about getting an AR type in .22

Perfectly possible, they tend to be made by literally who brands. They are also pretty common, maybe I'm just being an edge lord by wanting something different.

There was a Sig 553 in .22 which looked great but way to pricey with a very shitty looking mag well.
>>
>>30742420
If you get an AR type, you're an edgelord for trying to be a tacticool, Delta Force Recon 0perator. If you don't, you're denying the modularity of the platform. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'd go for the AR. I have one in 5.56, but I like shooting .22. I just haven't g.otten around to it because I have a few .22s and I wanna branch out a bit. The S&W I posted is like the poster child of .22lr ARs
>>
>>30742560
i'll have a wee shop around with that in mind, thanks.

Currently saving up for a 10/22 that will be tacticool.

I know for a fact that's old pre-AKM rifle, select-fire and in 7.62x39mm, unless it's been deactivated you're not getting that on any regular license.

An AK in .22LR looks more like this, plasticy, weird ejection port and less curved mag.

Oh yeah, the M&P-15/22 is pretty alright, the mags are a bit chunkier so it feels nicer to handle.

If you want to kit it out, you should be able to make mid tier airshit parts work.

It's a very expensive and heavy .22 rifle. The only ""upside"" is it looks like a MP5.

Do yourself a favor and just get a 10/22 and save your money for something better later.

Are there any semi auto 22 magazine fed rifles that will not constantly ftf if I get trigger happy?
>>
>>30743432
Doesn't have to be rimfire. You can get a straight-pull in 7.62x39, which looks exactly the same as the real deal.
>>
>>30743830
Seconding. Cheapest I've seen was $750.

there's no way tripfag actually owns one, he's thinking of the earlier mp5 clones made by gsg which are basically airsoft guns.

The walther/umarex .22lr mp5 has nearly perfect reviews across the board, mine is the most reliable of all my .22 rifles, and the material and construction is top-quality and feels just like the big boy 9mm MP5s.

The only suggestion i have is get the a5 version instead of the fake SD

ok, but why do you NEED a .22? They can still kill, and an air rifle will get the job done just as well, and you avoid the lead that destroys our planet. A bit dangerous if you ask me friend.
>>
>>30743933
I haven't had a problem with my 15-22 with mini mags, federal auto match, cci ar tactical or cci standard velocity. Runs like a top. I've put around 10k round down range with maybe 5 failure to eject, but that was with a few weak federal auto match rounds.

Some people don't NEED a .22, they WANT a .22

.22 has more velocity and more energy down range.
>and you avoid the lead that destroys our planet
Last I heard air rifles still use lead projectiles.

The 10/22 if you use good mags.

I've been looking all over for the /k/ 10/22 magazines guide but I can't find it for the life of me. Anyone willing to post it?

The lead still exists whether we dig it up and shoot it or just leave it in the ground.

If anything, digging it up and storing it in containers above ground helps.

ikr that anon saying lead is dangerous to the earth must not know it comes from the fuckin earth. I think he is either a troll or a really uneducated faggot or both. Most likely both.

Save your money and give Caledonian Arms a call. Thanks to the MARS trigger you can have a semi auto rifle in 7.62 or 5.56.
>>
>>30745025
Good idea, but it's worth starting out with a .22 just because.
>>
>>30745093
It is, which is why you should shoot someone else's .22lr at your local club and then proceed directly to getting one of those.

I very rarely give companies reviews or support products on the internet but it's an excellent company producing high quality equipment, pissing in the face of ridiculous government legislation.

Walther makes the G36, HK HK 416 D145RS, and MP5 in .22 as well as Colt brand AR's. I actually bought the G36 at a gun show and while I think I look a bit like a goober shooting it, that thing is pretty fun

Oftentimes that's just a welded up gasblock.
Not too hard to fix if necessary.
>>
>>30745277
Also at that, straight-pull is faster than conventional bolt-action, and you still have the high caliber assault clipazines that make liberals cry.
>>
>>30745370
>>30745277
And you no longer need to go down the straight pull route, and get a MARS trigger which is a semi auto firing from an open bolt - which is UK legal.
>>
>>30745025
semi semi auto*
>>
>>30745421

Which is faster and more convenient than a straight pull.

I do think the "auto-eject" system is a nifty way to wave your balls in the face of a shitty gov't, it's clearly something they didn't think about.
>>
>>30748575
There is also this option for britbongs

>>30750215
That's basically the same thing, yeah, except the trigger acts as your release on the Mars.
