So /k/, I come to you with a question. Let's say that there is alien life, and it's living on Mars. Assuming they don't have FTL, relativistic bomb tech, what kind of weaponry do you think aliens might be fielding one day for a planetary conquest?
> How would they invade earth?
> What kind of warfare are we looking at if long-range barrages can be seen on radar in space and intercepted (thus making firing nukes from earth to mars impossible, and vica versa)
> would you fuck an alien?
> would you trade your raifu for a more compact, more powerful, more reliable and aesthetically designed ayylmao gun?

Nukes.
>aesthetically designed
In what way?
Things can't just be "aesthetic," that's a valueless measure like "meme." Things are aesthetically appealing or unappealing, the qualifier is necessary.
I swear 4chan butchers English harder than urban youths.

Tossing rocks into other planets is already technology we could easily develop, we just have no need to do so at the moment.
Really, the moment another life-form is discovered, that would pretty much become the defacto method of obliteration. Just huck rocks at each other until you vaporize the entire surface.

Not OP, but:
Can we assume for this thread that the aliens are hoping to invade earth for it's ecology and habitable surface and thus will refrain from using relativistic bombardment / nukes / whatever, or at least use them vary rarely in order to avoid destroying the biosphere?
It makes things more interesting this way.

If you want to take a habitable planet with minimal ecological destruction then the following happens:
First step will be the destruction of orbital structures such as the ISS, any relevant satellites, et cetera. Assume GPS, communications satellites, all of it going down. This can be accomplished by practically any means. KKV missiles, lasers, et cetera.
Following that, targeted bombardment from orbit of major population centers, military infrastructure, and government locations, so as to sow havoc and create innumerable issues for the governments of earth to deal with. Again, KKV, lasers, tactical atomics, nerve gas, biological agents, et cetera.
Followed, after the siege period, by boots on the ground to mop up any major resistance left. This part, at least for a non FTL species is going to involve flinging large quantities of people from one planet to another, so assume the enemy in question has the technology and orbital infrastructure to easily ferry troops from their planetary surface to an easier launch point. This will be followed by at least several days to weeks spent in transit, at the minimum assuming this is in the same solar system.
Now, this is all expensive, and takes a lot of effort. And money, and time. But at least now you have the planet.

One possibility, is they just terraform earth to suit their needs, killing us off without a fight or without us even seeing them.
Seeding the atmosphere with alien plants that outcompete the native crops and that expel toxic spores or something. Then they'd just wait a few years until all the humans in hermetically sealed bunkers or whatever are dead, then start building alien starbucks or whatever it is they wanted to do.

How about you read Terraformers and find out. It has all your questions answered
