What are these things that pop up when the F-5E shoots its cannons?

are the controls in that game decent or autistic as ARMA?
>>30737032

Lel pleb, Arma vehicle controls are only difficult if you are disabled.

>>30737060

>>30737032
if by autistic you mean complex it has arma beat by a large margin. but it's nowhere near as clunky as arma.
>>30737069
Arma is 15+, and you can't get the controls.
Seems pretty retarded to go around claiming you are over 18.
>>30736354
Shoulder things that go up
>>30737032
DCS: World is the definitive modern air combat simulator. Controls are decent, and very complex until the last detail. Clickable cockpits are a thing.
>>30737032
Nowhere in ArmA is it an (almost) requirement to buy a flight stick with a shitload of buttons on it.
>>30737032
>autistic as ARMA
What? Flying in ARMA is almost as easy as Warthunder or Battlefield.
>>30736354
I'm gonna wait a while before getting that module, it's my fucking dream and I don't want beta bugs missing buttons to ruin it.
Also this >>30737099
>>30736806
You probably have to flip a switch somewhere to activate it and OP is probably like most of the buyers right now and is just memeing around with autostart.
>>30741519
>easy as Warthunder or Battlefield.
It isn't
>>30741746
>almost as easy
Flying in ARMA isn't hard at all m8.
>>30736354
Realistically what do I need to actually play a flight simulator in a fashion that isn't going to drive me crazy? Would a keyboard and a not-mega-expensive joystick do the trick? Are there any default-recommended 'entry level joysticks' for flight sims that everyone agrees on?
Because that looks fun.
>>30741794
If you want both a stick and a throttle (you do), Thrustmaster Hotas X is about as cheap as they get. If you enjoy arthritis, I think a 3D Pro is one of the top selling all-in-one stick.
>>30741847
>I think a 3D Pro is one of the top selling all-in-one stick.
Only because it's $30. The stick is garbage and you'd seriously be better off with a 360 controller. I've owned two of the things, they're way too stiff to do any kind of fine movement with because it takes like 10 pounds of force just to get it moving.
>>30741794
For a proper sim, an X-52 at minimum.
>>30739624
It would pretty pretty amazing with VR because you could literally interact with the controls.
>>30736354
what game is this? i need something new to play and love airplane games

>>30741914
>>30741582
>>30736354
FUCK this game looks so much fun! Should I have a control stick to play it or can I just use keyboard? Steam says its free is it worth it to DL the free part or would anybody recommend the extra content with it too?
>>30737054
>babbys first shitpost
>>30741968
You need a real joystick for DCS. The free thing is just the launcher, the actual modules cost money.
>>30741746
If you can fly in BF to any decent degree, an hour will having you flying well enough for light ops in ARMA.
>>30741968
Without a stick or even a controller it's going to be clunky as hell to fly, but the free part you might as well give a go and see if you want to invest in it. Might want to take a look at how much each addon costs though, even without factoring in a decent flight stick to get the best from it DCS is a potentially fucking expensive way to spend 90% of your time staring at a aircraft that won't start because you screwed up the pre-flight routine somehow.
>>30741875
I think there was a video from a few months ago showing some motion tracking gloves that you use with a VR headset so you can interact with the virtual buttons. Which seems seriously overkill when you have a keyboard and you can buy a button box as well, not to mention all the buttons you can map on a proper hotas set.
>>30741886
Read thread.
>>30741914
Always check the user created content sections, there's some guy making a full Ace Combat campaign for instance.
>>30742017
It's probably best that he sticks with the free version (Su-25T and TF-51) for a while since it sounds like he's never played a flight sim in his life.
>>30742067
Oh does the free version does have playable content?
>>30742055
I think i have an old flightstick from '05 floating around in the basement somewhere.
>>30741968
>>30742017
The game is "free" but only lets you fly a shitty sim of a shitty russian plane. It's good to get a feel and see if it runs on your PC though.
I played quite a bit with just a 360 controller and had fun. Been thinking about getting a stick though.
>>30742067
>there's some guy making a full Ace Combat campaign for instance
WHAT
>>30742092
It has a very nice SU-25T module and a unarmed P-51.
i've been getting into it and with a little effort and like Babies first stick( i have a Thrustmaster Tflight HOTAS,) you can do successful attack runs.
The manual is very light on the 25T but its an FC3 bird so it doesnt take much to get her in the sky
Manual:

>>30742304
>Wait I thought /vg/ was terrible,
It depends entirely on the thread anon.
>>30742279
You get the TF-51 for free too.
>>30742092
There are a bunch of modules out currently. A-10C, Ka-50, Mig-21bis, Mirage 2000C, F-5E, Mig-15, F-86, UH-1, Mi-8, SA342 Gazelle, and some other lower fidelity aircraft (Mig-29, F-15C, A-10A, Su-25A, Su-27, Su-33).
Each aircraft costs between $20-50 and sales and other bonuses can put some modules at below $10 on a REALLY good day.
Get decent with the free Su-25T, get a good stick, get trackIR (pretty much mandatory for flying online) and then slowly begin to buy as many modules as you want.
I have the most fun in the Mig-21, but the Mirage and A-10C are close seconds.
>>30737054
Then why are you shouting 'hurr durr autistic" like only a teenager would do ?
I just have a Xbone controller. What kind of stick is good to fly the Huey with? I also like the A10.
>>30742414
>Huey
If you don't have rudder pedals, you'll at least need a hotas with a stick that twists for rudder action.
>>30742496
>stick that twists
That sounds like a pain.
Would some shitty racing pedals work?
>>30742642
Yeah, I used my fanatec pedals as toe brakes for the WW2 planes before I got my rudder pedals.

DCS MIG-21 or Blackshark2
Russians like having toggle switches for EVERYTHING
>>30745984
The best part is the land gear.

>the front wheel is basically the same as that of a shopping cart
>can only steer with brakes by using the rudder pedals to activate dynamic braking

>>30750260

>>30748055
um... that's how you steer a jet on the ground in real life. there is nosegear steering, but differential braking and rudder work just fine and the paddle switch turns it on and off.
>>30750570
The MiG-21 has no nosegear steering. It's just a bit of a shock if you come from any of the modern fighter modules.
>>30750576
oh. nosegear free casters? it's annoying but doable. just watch your throttle setting and pull your power before you go around a turn... doing that on a crowded ramp is a quick way to not become popular with your ground crew.
>>30750591
Also the brakes run on compressed air, so if you go through too many ground cycles without doing whatever is needed to refill the air (I think you have to completely respawn, not sure though), then you can't brake anymore.
>>30736354
>>30736354

The only thing worse than your logic is your manners. I have snipped away most of what you wrote, because, well... it didn't really say anything. Your attempt at constructing a creative flame was pitiful. I mean, really, stringing together a bunch of insults among a load of babbling was hardly effective... Maybe later in life, after you have learned to read, write, spell, and count, you will have more success. True, these are rudimentary skills that many of us "normal" people take for granted that everyone has an easy time of mastering. But we sometimes forget that there are "challenged" persons in this world who find these things more difficult. If I had known, that this was your case then I would have never read your post. It just wouldn't have been "right". Sort of like parking in a handicap space. I wish you the best of luck in the emotional, and social struggles that seem to be placing such a demand on you.

I reccomend sticking with the default modules, the SU25. Sure it doesn't have clickable cockpit but it is still really damn fun and it is AFAIK the only plane that can fulfill the crucial role of doing SEAD.
Save for mig21, but that depends on how well you can toss a nuke.
