All you nigros seem to think that I am the windowlicker who is going to ND a loaded gun. I know to clear any firearm I pick up, it is the mother-in-laws, nieces, grandparents, and other extended family who may come round for reasons beyond my control, that I am trying to protect.
Imagine the fallout if you get a surprise visit from the inlaws, followed by your MIL NDing into her leg on the way to the bathroom because she wanted to look at your babykiller. Much harder to manage that when she has to load and charge.

Now I'm very safe around firearms, I was almost killed because somebody ND'd, and I have never had a problem with my children grabbing my guns. What I'm inclined to believe happened is I either placed it on my nighstand with the barrel facing towards me (not likely) or I knocked it off the nighstand in the middle of the night and while still mostly asleep reached down and tossed it back on my nightstand.

Either way that scared the piss out of me so on top of leaving one out of the tube, I keep it in the holster.

In hindsight I should have stayed and helped the guy file a police report, had a family friend in the sheriffs department at the time and I asked him about it a couple years later. He's known me since I was a little kid so I had complete confidence in telling him the events. He nearly lost his mind when I told him, apparently a bunch of deputies heard the story from the guy's police report and thought it was hilarious. He said no one ever really went looking for me, we were too far out in the parking lot for security footage and the sheriffs department wasn't going to waste time looking for someone who hadn't technically committed any crimes.

I can rack while raising a firearm there is no loss of time. SECOND, fumbling with a safety is a micro-action while pumping, racking or dropping a bolt is much more macro. I am more confident in my abilities to do so while having a seizure and shitting my pants. If i perceive a threat I load. If I perceive a threat imminent while carrying I load and use the safety to put it into safety off double-action giving it such a heavy trigger pull it's impossible to accidental.
