Here's a run down of biblical rules

There are ~2800 commandments in the old testament. Most of these are not "thou shalt not kill" and shit like that, most of them are hygiene and organization rules to help turn a tribe of desert shepherds into an army. Then there are the rules that Jesus gave the disciples, of which there are probably about 40. And then there are the suggestions that the Apostle Paul gave to the various mission churches in the Letters (these are the ones that start with an ethnic name, like Romans, Collossians, etc).

Most of the old testament rules are not relavant when you aren't trying to turn shepherds into an army, and they were tossed right out. The ones that are still valid all come from the same root, which is love for God and love for your fellow man. Paul still condemned homosexuality in a couple of his letters, but he was trying to protect a religious insurgency in the Roman Empire, and growth was very important to his church. It could be said to be less important to modern Christianity, which is the largest religious affiliation in the world.

So if it's about eating something, or washing your feet, you can ignore it unless you don't live in a western food safety environment. If it's about relationships, it's superseded by a commandment to love one another.
