What is the best operator watch and why is it the Casio GW5600?
>>30676042
Garmin Tactix???
I like my G-Shock
>>30676042
I like the 5600 series as much as the ither guy. But the later gshocks starting with the 6600 are better for operating startjng with the possibility of having a huge central button for the backlight that can be activated wearing gloves.
Alos negative displays are shit to read in certain situations so they dont work for me
Wearing a G90001VER these days and I love it
>>30676469
Srsly considering one of these....
>>30676554
All valid complaints.
What I do like about the 5600 is how small and thin it is.
What I don't like about it is that it doesn't come with a dual clasp band like the bigger G-shocks like the Rangeman and that there isn't a a clock always visible no matter what mode you're in like the bigger g-shocks.
I guess my ideal G-shock doesn't exist. It's a shame they don't make more thing and less bulky g-shocks that still have some of the features of the new big ones.
>>30676042
I have had one for about 5 years and love it. It's true that the negative display can be difficult to read in some situations though
>>30676631
Negative displays
>great in low light situations like dark and near dark
>great in daylight or really bright indoors, basically great outside no matter what
>sucks shit indoors if it isn't bright
Good thing mine has a big button and an automatic backlight when you raise it up.
>>30676042
Excellent taste OP. I have 2.
The only better one is by Garmin, but the bells and whistles arent for everyone
>>30676670
Yeah but then again: The auto backlight behaves to beatteries like a fat girl does at an all-you-can-eat restaurant.
Thats one of the first things I do when I buy a new G: turning the auto backlight off.
>>30676622
Yeah, the 5600 is indeed the thinnest of the Gs afaik. If you gotta wear dress shirts on a daily base, its basically the only G-option because lets face it: You wont fit the cuffs of a nice shirt over the thicccck ass DW6900
>>30676042
I wear a Mickey Mouse watch.
>>30676759
>Yeah but then again: The auto backlight behaves to beatteries like a fat girl does at an all-you-can-eat restaurant.
>Thats one of the first things I do when I buy a new G: turning the auto backlight off.
Not a problem, senpai. Tough solar.
>>30676759
>Yeah, the 5600 is indeed the thinnest of the Gs afaik. If you gotta wear dress shirts on a daily base, its basically the only G-option because lets face it: You wont fit the cuffs of a nice shirt over the thicccck ass DW6900
Shiiiet. I just wore mine to work today. Looks pretty retro and tough, but poorfag. I just like it so much. Rather wear it than one of my overpriced swiss analog watches.
>>30676042
Casio F105W
>>30676042
If it doesn't have reverse LCD, it is no operator.
>watch with depth sensor
>3bar water resistance
>no diving!
Fucking Suunto piece of shit, I didn't even dive that deep. I am done with that fucking company back to my two old reliable Seikos.
>>30676832
the only correct answer.
Sinn
What's the best operator watch for poorfags like me on a budget?
>>30676792
Lol I totally forgot about the solar ones. My bad. I only got battery ones.
Yeah they do look retro and thats what I like about them. Id rather wear a digital watch than analog. I even wore my 5600 under my wedding suit. No need for flashy watches.
>>30676893
173 on right?
I only operate with pic related. Accurate Swiss quartz movement, water resistant to 30m, shock resistant, long battery life... What do you ask more.
I want something like pic related.
>>30676042
>He doesn't have a Tough Solar
>>30676893
>>30677151
Mein negroes.
Scratch is from rock climbing, and I never dive with it. Holds up great to my fake operating
>>30677224
Worn with a NATO strap.
>>30676893
>>30677151
>>30677207
Hallo, anons
>>30677254
ONE OF US, ONE OF US
>>30677151
Ya we bros...
BTW, do not buy a fucking Suunto piece of shit, get a Garmin or Casio Pathfinder instead.
>>30676469
Got one and I love it. Is my EDC watch.
Casio F91W is THE operator watch
>>30676469
>>30676584
>>30677545
>using a phone home watch
>>30676042
>>30676554 is right. The negative displays suck dick. I love the solar/atomic sync but fuck is that thing hard to read in the plane. Went back to my Timex Ironman pretty much immediately.
>>30676042
lmao. Legitimate operators would use a high quality ABC watch, not some retarded G-Shock you fucking teenager.
>>30677829
My alti/baro got fucked up.
Can it still get repaired?
$10
Came to this thread really thinking about getting a nice watch.
>>30678104
What model?
>>30678122
I didn't need a new watch till I heard those anons mention that Garmin shit
Now I'm contemplating whether i want to spend 600 bucks.
>>30677942
Possibly, but probably easier/cheaper to get a new one. If you don't NEED that function, then just keep as is.
>>30676832
truth
>>30677829
"Legitimate operators" use whatever minor equipment like watches that they fucking want, and gshocks are pretty common. Sorry kid.
>>30678165
F-108WH
gommie watch
Surprised no one has mentioned luminox.
>>30678756
>chinese characters
Like you can read it anyway weeb.
>>30677559
>be university student
>have Egyptian professor
>pretty bro tier guy
>his family left Egypt in early 60's because father got engineering job in France
>shares baklava with class and plays 1970s Egyptian R&B music
>notice one day that Egpytian professors wears Casio F91W
>mfw
>>30676042
I have one of those. Shame about the resin straps Casio uses, they always break down in a year for me. Currently wearing pic related which I am surprised to find on eBay for $300 when it was $65 on Amazon.
>>30677254
anon please replace that band it is very worn.please refer to pic related for band condition.
I honestly don't recommend it much for operating but I do like these.
>Not posting a beautiful soviet design
>superior in every way to any watch posted here
>>30682388
Thank you white power dubs, anon. You're right, it's beat to shit, I need to get another or throw my NATO on it.
Timex M252. Love this chronodawg.
>>30682689
>Vostok Komandirskie
>superior in every way to any watch posted here
Jesus Christ this meme has to die. Only worse thing than having one Vostok watch is having two Vostok watches. That way you can be sure none of them will tell the correct time.
>>30682776
My second favorite is the T4990 series, with straight black being the bee's knees.
>>30682777
I fell for the meme. My Vostok feels flimsy and always slows down even when I'm active. Stuck with my G-shocks
>>30682482
GOAT
wish they would make a g shock tough solar version of it
>>30682482
I'd like that if it was WR, had inverse LCD, and rubber watchband (I don't like the faux leather and nylon weave bands that ends up stinking).
Happy with my Timex Expedition. Cost £50 and has lasted through all manner of outdoors shit over the years.
I have one of these and it's been running very well for a year now. A little heavy at first, but a great gateway automatic movement watch. For about $50-$100, they can't be beat. Of course a quartz movement Seiko or digital Casio will be better, but nothing beats a watch made by drunk slavs.
>>30680667
That's because they are overpriced junk.
I gave my old F91-W to my 3 year old nephew last week.
He'll make a fine terrorist some day.
>>30683048
They make it with a rubber watchband, and it says "water resistant 10BAR" on the back.
The biggest problem with it is that it's easy to hit the buttons by accident.
cheapskates
>>30683625
I suppose. But then again, all I really need is something to take a bit of water and abuse while still telling time, countdown timer, and stopwatch.
I'm not sure where is the precise threshold, but at some point there is a diminishing return on fancy pants kit.
>>30676042
I prefer my Victorianox infantry.
>wear digital watch
>be an adult
You choose
>>30683788
was this that dead "french" commando?
>>30684241
no. its a dead frog "commando".
niggers get on my level
>>30678248
That shit battery life made me turn away from it I almost did a impulse buy on that too
>>30685283
I haven't changed the battery in my G-Shock in like 6 years. It's prob fucked by now though.
>>30676893
> SKA366
After 10 years of taking a licking, my Seiko is finally giving up on the ticking. I can get the capacitor replaced cheaply to get it running again, but everything on the watch is scuffed to hell. It's ugly. I'm opting to buy another to have a nice looking watch again.
They all have their own upsides and downsides. All are operator as fuck.
>>30676042
"laughs" the only watch you will ever need GARMIN EPIX it is a color topographic wrist watch with turn by turn directions you need to be partially competent to use it.
anyone use pic related?
>>30686053
No but they are very nice operator watches with no frills approach.
>>30676042
Posting original oper8r watch
Too lazy to take a picture. I also have a G shock and a Seiko diver. Not very operator...
No moneybags
Where does one find Seiko field watches? Are they still being made? I can't find them on their site.
The G7900-1 has done alright for me so far. And it doesn't have a leather band like the Stauer I used to wear. A leather band stinks like you wouldn't believe after a single week of a California summer.
>>30686253
Should just spend the extra for the 7900B
Added solar and atomic is worth the money to me, but you have to deal with the negative color dial.
>>30683048
Try pic related versions, I have left one. Interesting thing about it is the accuracy (no detectable lost or gained time in eight months). Fucking weird for a $15 ebay watch.
>>30685809
What makes casinos operator friendly?
Best NVG compatible watch? Ive found some LCD watches glow a lot under NVG which can be distracting moving around a helicopter cabin. But I cant use analog for my job.
Anyone know any good very low light watches?
>>30676042
Funny, I was looking up a classic action movie not enough people care about, especially on /k/
It's called SPEED. Based keanu on top form as a cool swat cop, bomb on bus etc.
Anyway I was reading about it, and turns out keanu's watch has a big following among watch lovers. Some kind of special rugged model apparently.
Failing that, go for the bog standard Casio model which is so common it's known as the Bomber's Watch, because it's regularly used in IEDs.
>>30677180
I had the same model. Google "bomber's watch". The wiki article leaves out the real reason it gets used in bombs: the strap breaks so quickly you might as well blow it up as soon as you get it.
>>30677180
That's an F-91W if you weren't aware.
>>30676469
What is the battery life like on those?
ITT /k/unts who don't know how to survive in the world
>>30686760
>the strap breaks so quickly you might as well blow it up as soon as you get it.
That's a meme. I've had mine for years and the straps are fine.
>>30686807
F-91W master race.
>>30678383
This. I see plenty wearing pretty regular watches.
>>30685813
What's the functional battery life on that? 45 minutes?
Love mine so far, theres always one guy that compliments it when i go the gun show.
>>30686895

Screencap of all the watches Macgyver wears.
And it's a pretty legit selection.

>>30682777
>>30683379
Again, I stick with my opinion. I have the same model only with different hands and it died one month after the warranty expired. The seller agreed to fix it for free but I'm too cheap to pay 15$ shipping on a 40$ watch. Afterwards I bought pic related and never looked back.
Mudman
>>30685296
Yeah g shock battery life is fine and it's probably one if the next watches I'm buying.that anon mentioned Garmin and that's what I was talking about. Sleek looking watch with awesome features but the battery life is just as horrible as a cellphone
>>30686253
I think that this Casio is much better than those other G-Shock because the buttons are bigger and can be pressed while wearing gloves.
>>30686895
Rolex are cool but they mostly are overpriced. They are assembled by lazy Portuguese and Italians, using lots of components made by ETA. If you want something exclusive, buy Patek Philippe.
>>30682932
get a 10 year
solar last about 7 years before gotta change it.

You are a gentleman and a scholar, sir.

I love the look of those old DW-1000s.
Been using this for years. Been using it when when I was back in military.
currently wearing a dw5600, but I really want to get pic related whenever the import site i'm watching decides to restock the damn thing.
>>30690189
>import site
Which one is that?
>>30680749
There's this (locally) famous kebab vendor in my city who used to fly fighter jets in the Egyptian airforce in the 70's. No idea why he decided to sell kebab instead of becoming a flight instructor when moving here
>>30686559
Well for one they're the lead producers of digital watches (with or without additional sensors) because of their simple and precise modules. You can get a three year old child and teach them how to use a Casio digital watch because of the simplicity. Also some models while not being that pretty really DO take a lot of abuse for not a lot of money
>>30690900
Maybe he got his ass kicked or lost some buddies in the Yom Kippur war?
>>30687041
Didn't know it was a meme, mine really did tear off, maybe a year or so in.
Alahu akbar
Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium.
Never needs to have battery changed, solar powered, made of titanium.
About as operator as it gets.
>>30691957
Surprised nobody posted this earlier tbqh. Love everything about it, even if it HAS had the shit beaten out of it.
>>30688455
>doesn't understand meme arrows

you must be thinking of hublot, rolex makes their own, in-house movements
Pateks are, as my design teacher once said, 'the daddy of watches', but they arent rated for diving or the elements, and are mostly dress watches

Casio F-91W. Better if it was issued upon graduation from al Qaeda training camp.

13 - 24 and no GMT hand?? Unimpressed.

It would have to be 1-24 for a gmt hand to make sense. Having a 12h gmt is real retarted sir.
