I dont know why it wasnt polished from the factory like my 239. The barrel is finished black except for the top. Either way though you can either polish it or let it wear in naturally.

And just to make sure you are lubing the upper area of the slide that rubs against that right? Not a lot just a little there will really help against wear. If shit rubs you lube it.

See if you can get the crud off with something like a brass brush (that won't scratch the steel) first. If you want to be more daring and actually polish it, wet automotive sandpaper about 400-600 grit (start lower if it isn't making any difference, and then go higher to increase the polish) Use a flat sanding block, and make sure you don't wear down the sharp edges around the top of the chamber. Put painter's tape around the parts of the barrel you don't want to scratch. Go slow and just do it enough to get the finish you want.

I'd want to see the inside of the slide too bro, i does have that rippling look of galling. it could be out of spec by a few thousandths, If shit gets out of spec too much on the large side, even a little it can go straight to hell really fast. I've seen engines that had bearings too big, and shit would barely move untill it just tore itself loose and then the bearing was wiped out. same with valves and cams.I've seen cam lobes with a notch in them from being way out of spec.
