Well, some idiot thought it was a good deal to trade me these two plate carriers worth $170-$180 for a Phoenix Arms HP22 and 100 rounds of .22lr. I got lucky. Just need to buy some side plates and...
My questions to you fine folk at /k/, is what plate carrier should I get. I want to get two kids if possible, I would like something without all the MOLLE crap, just something tight fitting around the torso so I can use to conceal the armor under a loose shirt.
Also, what MOLLE type carrier should I get?

....And also these plates are quite heavy (to wear for long periods of time), are there any lighter, but just as effective plates out there? Or should I not be a pussy and just get used to their weight? I'm using it for my armed guard job at a recreational marijuana grow op. I know jack shit about this body armor stuff. Help me out guys in picking out two good carriers and possibly other plates.

>>30654600
>trade me
If I was dealing with someone of your intellect, I'd take advantage of you too.
>>
>>30654600
>some idiot
Those plates are $65 each brand new. It was a pretty even swap.
>>
>>30654642
The pistol was not in the best of shape, probably only really worth $70 max. The safety was fucked up, it jammed a lot, just a shitty cheap pistol.
>>
Are you military or pmc, if you work a desk job...why do you need plates and a plate carrier for?
>>
>>30654663
Are you police of military? If not what do you need a gun for?
>>
>>30654663
I'm an armed guard at a legal marijuana grow op in Colorado. Wouldn't be surprised if the cartels or some other shitheads would try robbing us.
>>
>>30654677
In your feeble brain, my disabled, wheelchair bound mother ought to wear carrier plates along with her .38 chief's special Smith.
>>
Fuck side plates they are retarded and take you from a semi mobile ass hole to a lumbering landwhale.go on AR500s website buy trauma pads for behind the plates, go to their PC section. Look at banshee or made in the USA ones with double or triple stitch sewing and order that.
>>
>>30654684
What a depressing title. I hope you never served in the military. We would be disappointed in you.
>>
>>30654703
Thank you for actually staying on topic. I'll look into it,
Anyone else have any recommendations?
>>
>>30654699
Your disabled mother is a police officer? How did she managed that?

I don't see why she would wear a plate carrier while patrolling in her Hoveround, but I don't know how bad it is in the neighborhoods she covers.
>>
>>30654711
Never served
>>
>>30654684
What the he'll, they should provide that shit for you then
>>
>>30654711
why would that be depressing all that infantry prepares you for is armed security and police work
>>
>>30654747
The military has provided me with alot of shit. Doesn't mean I use it and don't go buy my own shit. Or use the old shit I acquired cause it works
>>
>>30654747
They only provide ammo and night vision crap for night shifters, I work in the day...... they are sitting on millions, the cheap bastards.
>>
>>30654739
You're not that bright, are you?
>>
>>30654755
Higher tier than a dope dispensary.

Get it together, Stan.
>>
>>30654782
I work at indoor facility, probably two football fields long, one wide, stuffed to the brim with thousands of pot plants. It's no dispensary.

If you're willing to drop the cash flight light plate carrier by tactical tailor is a great pc if you're wanting to do a minimalist setup, also pretty light as well

>>30654813
I like that rig, definitely will consider it thanks man

Have you ever watched any tests against those plates? They're fine against handguns, but they suck absolute dick against anything that's an intermediate rifle round or better--and that's before you even consider the problems they have with energy transfer/spalling. I would highly recommend reselling them to some schmuck and getting some decent ceramics. You will likely have to add some money, but it will save your life against someone who is well-armed.
>>
>>30654849
No problem if you want some better plates that are lighter I know there's a website that's doing a deal 2 lvl 4 ceramic plates for about $300. They'll stop up to a 30-06 ap rounds
>>
>>30654884
I don't care what it means to you or anyone else. What matters is my expertise and you are jealous of that.
>>
>>30654919

Yeah, not everyone has the aptitude to mop up rain or wash rocks

Man, I wish I could be cool like you

And you guys went out and protected poppy fields in Afghanistan in which produced a large portion of the heroin that is now flooding our streets.
>>
>>30654910
Yeah my veteran buddy was telling me to sell these and go with ceramic armor. Came here for a second opinion. I have no problem throwing in extra cash.

Looks like someone just fucked you over by selling you recalled plates. http://www.ar500armor.com/level-3-recall.html

And don't be a retard like most of the gear fag thread and buy "NIJ tested" armor, get something actually certified and on the fucking list, even if it costs a bit more.

Amateur hour bullshit you wouldn't see from Safariland, Point Blank, Protech, Second Chance, etc.

Lol there was a recall on our ceramic plates on deployment. Took dudes forever to get their replacements.

I actually just had a recall on my ceramic plates and I'm under NECC which has an obscene budget for that stuff. Large size plates weren't treated and were subsequently mishandled. Distributor figured it would be fine. Until plates started breaking down and rounds went through.
>>
>>30654755
You're not wrong.

>>30654684
Keep up the good work, homie. My boss thanks you for your service, and I'm not even fuckin' memeing. The weed does more for his pain than the morphine does.
