there are never any threads about race guns/competitive shooting

Let's change that. Poor fags need not apply
>>
>>30623209
If this was a nugget thread it would be maxed out by now lol
>>
>>30623209
/k/ eschews competition.

Open is a money race that never ends. Competition in stock/production is where it's at.
>>
>>30623641
Compete in production, have a buddy that shoots open, he's always dropping dough on his gun.
>>
>>30623781
Open is like competing in Formula 1. You're always dumping money into a gun that either runs to the pole or breaks down at the start. There seems to be a pattern with the guys I shoot with. You get new shooters in their late 40's, early 50s and they struggle to get out of C class. At a large match they're middle of the pack. So they go shoot in a division that's less crowded. They drop a few thousand on an STI and another few thousand on accessories and gunsmithing. But, they're still just middle of the pack shooters. They're movements are slow and clumsy. They're not athletes. Where they should spend time, the gym, they're trying to compensate by spending money on gear.
>>
>>30623641
>>30623781
>>30623841
All of these people talking about open guns when the STI is a limited gun and the CZ is a limited gun as well but can still be ran production ESP in IDPA
>>
>>30623896
And I do shoot production with a myriad of guns as well...lately it has been a stock glock gen 4 17
>>
>>30623914
I stick with my stock M&P
>>
>>30624088
Go ahead but don't fool yourself in to thinking its anywhere near as enjoyable to shoot as either of the guns posted above
>>
>>30624180
The guns pictured above are barely race guns, they're limited division. Timestamp of they're not yours.
>>
I've got a G34 gen 4 for competition; I've just been practicing with it but it sounds like the g34 was reclassed, is that true? Not sure if it was referring to IDPA or IPSC

Actually at the range. Unlike u. Faggot.
>>
>>30623209
If the Safey were a bit bigger on the SP01 it would have been perfect. The safety is too small for a SAO IMHO.
>>
>>30625344
I have fairly large hands so the safety has never been a problem for me, but Cajun gun works makes an extended safety that works wonders for people with that issue

You're only one step off being a vape tier white trash. Also it was 10pm eastern time when you posted this. So no, I was not at the range at that time, but 5 hours earlier, I was.

also /k/ and competition shooting doesn't always fit together as all the poorfags try to dismiss any argument brought upon by sport shooters

why not get the SP01 Shadow safety then ?
>>
>>30629255

you've got a Race Master, right? thoughts on >>30629087 ? i've run bullets out on my Production rig so i'm thinking the same for Limited
>>
>>30624280
get fucked u cuck
>>
>>30624657

IDPA. USPSA/IPSC should still have it in Production.
>>
>>30630553

also does anybody run bullets out at 12/11 o'clock in Limited with the baseplate pointing to your weak side? my Production mags are bullets out.
>>
What is /k/ opinion on 40SW Lite Loads? I see a lot of people running 2011s in that. Their slides feels like an airshit slide, so light to manipulate.
>>
>>30632549
you need a .40 cal to make Major for Limited/whatever the IPSC equivalent is (Standard?)

problem is that 2011s tend to choke on SAAMI-spec OAL .40. they need something a bit longer (1.180"-ish OAL). so your options are to reload or buy ammo from Atlanta Arms or Precision Delta or a few others who make longer .40

but yeah, why shoot hotter ammo than you have to? you don't get points for shooting 190 pf ammo over 170 (plus a bit for insurance vs right at 165 and risking getting bumped to minor).
>>
>>30632617
>>30632549

also you can shoot Minor in .40 S&W pretty easily. since you're limited to 140mm mags you give up 2-3 rounds per magazine vs a guy shooting 9mm Minor. it's not that big of a deal.
>>
>>30624907
He might not be at the range, but at least he;s not a raging ass like you.

Jesus Christ
>>
>>30623209

what I hate is .22 plinkers with red dot sights, lasers, and other shit to make them competition machines.

>went to a steel shooting match when I was 15 or 16 with my dad
>gives me an old ruger MK II to shoot
>I'm actually pretty good with it
>get BTFO by a bunch of old guys with crazy huge pistols that are somehow .22LR as well
>their pistols jam frequently
>mine stovepipes once the entire match

If you want to get a badass competition custom pistol fine, but at least get it in a service pistol caliber. Spending $1000 or more on a .22LR pistol defeats the purpose of .22LR being affordable.
>>
>>30632923
How was I being an ass? He tried to call me out as some douche who posts pics of other people's stuff and got put in his place. Pretty simple.
>>
>>30630583
Profound, for a child.

>>30632923
I was there, just not angry like some dude who thinks there's something special about a rather low end limited gun.
>>
>>30633452
I bet you have van dyke too. That would go with the trash cigarettes.
>>
>>30624907
>camel blues

what a complete and utter pussy
>>
>>30632949
>Spending $1000 or more on a .22LR pistol defeats the purpose of .22LR being affordable.

There is that, yes. Money don't grow on trees, y'all.

On the other hand, a really nice .22 LR target pistol set up properly--and I'm talking about something like a S&W 41, set up by someone who really knows the design like Clark Custom, with Bo-Mar sights and a crisp two pound trigger--well, that's about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. It won't take as long as you think to shoot a thousand bucks worth of .22 ammo through it, either, not these days, when even the cheap shit is almost forty bucks a brick. How long would it take you to shoot 25 or 30 bricks? I used to shoot two bricks a week, before Obama, back when you could get Federal Champions for seventeen bucks for a carton of 525.
>>
>>30628855
I work part time at Academy behind the gun counter and we got a couple of SP-01 tacticals in. I have to say, probably the most comfortable gun to hold out of all the CZ's that I've handled
>>
>>30634149
$1000 for a really fast .22 open gun is about the most affordable way to get into the open division even if it's .22 at steel challenge.
>>
>>30634208
Some would say you don't even need to spend that much. Get a Ruger Mark III for $300 or so, spend another $200 or so on Volquartsen hammer/sear/disconnector/trigger, get a few more mags, and spend the other $450-500 on ammo.
>>
What is a race gun?
>>
>>30634239
If you're going to go to open you might as well go with a good optic and that will get you to the $1000 mark, which for a complete ready to compete gun is really not expensive.
>>
>>30630553
how would you know that I have a Racemaster ?
>>
>>30634444
Your quads compel me to answer. I don't grasp the appeal of optics on handguns. I'm faster and more accurate with irons, probably because I've been doing it that way--well, it's been a long time.

Sometimes I think about getting a red dot to put on one of my .22 rifles, to see what all the buzz is about, but I keep putting it off.
>>
>>30634515

you posted your rig before in other threads. SP-01 or a Tanfo IIRC.
>>
>>30634050
Not saying that it's the best gun in the world, but a DVC limited is far from "rather low end".
>>30634060
I don't even know what that is...but you calling them camel blues makes me think that you're still in high school.
>>
>>30635278
You seems to be getting confused who is being critical of your white trash vice. Get back to working on your COPD. For now we'll just ignore the blood vessel constriction, blood pressure increase, and increased heart rate. Not things you want for physical performance.
>>
>>30634265
A gun that is used in competition, usually it has features that make them less suited for other uses, like sub 2lb triggers, extended mags, target sights, porting, optics, tuned loads, fitted grips, ect.
>>
>>30635406
Sorry I thought this board was about weapons, not medical advice from teenagers
>>
>>30635688
You're the dipshit posting pics of something that was last trendy in the 80. Such a white trash example.

Also, you're a colossal newfag.

Dick is a subjective term. You're being a douche right now. Learn how to filter out my name and stop crying like a 4 year old that's lost in Walmart.
>>
>>30635873
Not the smoker. Just saying.
>>
>>30635887
Saying what? Nothing at all there bub.
>>
>>30635792

ah. so do you have a Race Master? thoughts vs the Racer?
>>
>>30635900
That you've been pretty consistently needlessly antagonistic. This is /k/, not Enos. A DVC is pretty nice here, given that a lot of posters still drool over the SP-01. Temper your expectations, and try giving some advice that isn't "lol cancer sticks" because from what I've seen on your channel, you're a far better shooter than most of us here.
>>
>>30635998
>A DVC is pretty nice here
It's pretty average everywhere else. Don't keep pretending is some 1/1 custom made piece.

What to talk about cancer there sir smokes a lot. Do you know what Halitosis is?
>>
>>30636043
As I said, I'm not a smoker. Also my 2011 isn't a DVC.

Why don't you talk a little bit about how you break down a stage?
>>
>>30636124
Nah, this thread is way past that point. Some tar tooth tried to show off an average limited gun and it backfired a bit. There's a reason why we never talk about competition guns and competition. There are like 6 of us who do it and the rest are kids and yuropoors with no funs.

Do you want to talk about the step counts between shooting points? The reload windows and where to dump a round? Talking about this stuff isn't really all that fun unless we're looking at a specific stage.
>>
>>30636043
>>30636164
OP here. Just wanted to reiterate how much of a douche u are....just to set the record straight the only one who started being a dick was you when u assumed I was another /k/ poster posting shit he doesn't own. U were proved wrong, got butt flustered and commenced being a gigantic faggot.
>>
>>30636164
Sorry your dad died of lung cancer though. If it's any consolation the aids would have gotten him eventually anyways
>>
>>30636607
Still alive there bro.

>>30636584
Great, you took your time to tell me how much you don't like me.

>I'll still sleep like a baby tonight.

We're not bros... And judging from your faggy YouTube channel you're a bit old to be calling anyone bro

>>30636761
I thought I was a high school kid? Which is it?
>>30635688
>not medical advice from teenagers
>>
>>30636816
This thread is a dumpster fire mainly because you lit a rag and tossed it in. I'm just staying in case someone can answer Racer vs Race Master
>>
>>30637009
Wow, that's like answering which powder. It's a preference. Good for you.
>>
>>30637054

As in the pros and cons and some feedback from using both, JohnnyTheDumpsterArsonist
>>
>>30637009
Oh, and you're right. This thread was started with nothing but a dumpster full of trash.
>>
>>30636816
That was before someone mentioned u had a YouTube channel...I watched one 45sec vid of u shooting some steel and closed the window. I guess u come off as teenager. Good for you and thanks for ruining the thread with your faggotry
>>
>>30637082
Not based in any measured data. What you're talking about is an opinion, but, you're someone who sucks on the cancer sticks and seems pretty proud about it. So, right there we know we're dealing with someone who has proven to make bad decisions.
>>
>>30637093
Yet...here u are
>>
>>30637100
Your thread was shit to begin with, then you got angry, then it got fun. Now you can't stop talking about me.
>>
>>30637115
You'll figure it out there champ.
>>
>>30628796
He might have tar in his lungs but you will always be SAO and that will always be worse.
>>
>>30629247
Dat short rail tho
>>
>>30637109

How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not a smoker
>>
>>30639168
We're talking about you here wheezy. Do you get winded after climbing a flight of stairs? Or are you the kind of lazy that takes the elevator?
>>
I'm seeing quite the lack of actual race gun pics.
>>
>>30635903
just get the one you like

half the sport holsters do the same shit with a different brand

i wouldn't buy the Racemaster again though after the "accident"
>>
Am I retarded for thinking I can take a RIA FS HC (9mm? .40?) and have it be competitive with STI's? Can someone comment on which features differentiate the two in a meaningful way besides roll mark?

I'm actually curious, not trying to troll.
>>
>>30646832
The gear only gets you so far, how you run that gear makes much more of a difference. Shoot your RIA and have a lot of fun.
>>
>>30646832
There's a guy I shoot matches with that uses one of those, and it works for him.
Take what you've got, and sort out what you want later.
>>
>>30647741
>>30647374
Okay, thanks. I've got a G34 right now; I want an excuse to buy a new gun (1911 style), but perhaps the $ would be better spent on ammo and range time.
>>
>>30649264
There's nothing wrong with a G34. The aftermarket for that gun is amazing with so much you can do to it if you want. Or you shot it in production as it comes out of the box.
>>
>>30649264
Another guy I shoot with uses a g34, he does great aside from being unable to slow down some times
