Naturally skinny. I served 4 years in the Infantry, USMC.

I was so skinny I missed a weigh in because I was doing other training. My 1st Sgt looked for a scale, but it was 6 am and even the pogs weren't at there jobs. He just looked at me, and said if anything I need to eat more. Fuck it, he wrote my weight in.

6 feet and I weighed 135 pounds. Infantry is not about being a power lifter, it's about endurance.

Im not sure what all you want but these are the major ones.
Bench 225 x10 for 3 sets
Leg press 400 x10 for 3 sets
Chest fly and rear deltoid 150 x10 for 3
Back extension 290 x10 for 3
Crunch 200 x10 for 3
I havent been able to squat lately because we dont have a smith machine at my gym and i go late at night and no one to spot but i was squatting 300 at a friends gym.

Is that good? My idea of what workouts are gud is about 15 years old. I went around all the machines and pieced together a full person from all the highlighted muscle groups then separated it by muscle region for alternating days.

I'm slowly gaining weight, about ~5lbs every month. I've never really needed to watch what I eat, I've been a skinny fuck my entire life. I jumped from 150lbs at 5'8" to 170lbs at 5'8" in a few months, kinda scary. Gotta start working out more and eating better.

>>
>>30606897
Just do hundreds a day in sets obviously. Every time you got a few minutes just crank some out. I'd get myself ready to pass PT in about a week every time I knew I had one. Got through my contract no problem.
>>
>>30606526
Not that anon but honestly just find what works for you and stick with it. Low carb, low fat, calorie counting whatever. A good rule of thumb is just cut sugar, watch intake and do some light to moderate exercise.

It sucks at first but if you can get through a few weeks it becomes easy. Even after the first few days and it starts to get better. You'll feel better.

Personally I'm doing low carb and it's been great. Tons of alternative recipes out there if you have strong crave carbs. Down 30 overall, about 40 more to go for ultimate goal weight.
>>
>>30606936
Less.
>>
>>30606936
You're not going to lose weight by simply cutting back. You either starve yourself to lose weight (not recommended) or cut back and do physical activity.
>>
>>30606936
Yeah if you've cut back on junk food, that probably means you're either eating too much or you're still getting too much crap like sugar from foods that boast "low fat" or don't seem like they'd be bad. Keeping an eye on macro nutrient intake as well as caloric is important.
>>
>>30605900

5'9 157 pounds of muscle, skin and bone.

Pretty much Vining.
>>
>>30606132
You needed to take measurements before and after to really see changes but also you probably need to change your diet a bit. Not trying to diminish your success at all, good job.
>>
>>30606936
I stick to water, coffee and orange juice for drinks. I mostly cook my own meals now. I avoid eating lots of fried and sugary foods. I only go out to eat if invited.

The best thing I've done has been breaking up my meals into 4 a day instead of three and limiting any snack I want to just fruit. 4 snaller meals a day has helped me stay full for a longer period if time, which helped fight cravings for junk food.

Other than that I don't keep close track of what I'm eating. Just avoiding some of the obvious pitfalls and making sure that eating right becomes a habit, nit an exceptiin, has done wonders.
>>

Finally started working out doing something other than cardio (mostly body weight stuff/strength with what I've got lying around) two weeks ago. At the same time, haven't done cardio in 2 months since it's too fucking hot and I'm too lazy for the gym.

eating at a caloric deficit will help you lose weight faster but that means eating things that will fill you up rather than starve you.
>>
>>30605900
6'5" and 237lbs. I could stand to lose 10, maybe 15 pounds of flab. But it's hard for people to tell because it distributes pretty evenly over my frame.

That being said, I used to be really fit and I weighed 235lbs when I was in really great shape. I'm slowly working my way back to that, so my end weight probably won't actually change a whole lot.

6'3", 244 here. I gained four pounds since I last weighed myself, but that was over a month ago. Getting a job made me drop about twenty pounds, and it's at a fucking gas station. OP, if you want to lose weight, cut carbs. Your body goes into ketosis, where it burns fat for energy. I basically cut everything because I couldn't into meal planning when I started working, but I lost weight fast. You don't even need to exercise really hard, standing around and mopping floors did it for me.

Your run time is pretty shit, look up some running programs, key will be hitting intervals every 2-3 days, with distance and light jogs mixed in.
For push ups throw in some bench work, put 135 on the bar and do 4x Max effort.

Unfortunately while you're a cadet (cadet read as: nobody) all they will use to judge you is the APFT and grades. When/if you actually get in and if you go combat arms you'll realize how stupid the APFT actually is at determining someones ability.

If swimming is all your interested in, I'd suggest doing a 3 day split,

Distance day where you go for something like 3-5k total at a comfortable pace or whatever will keep you moving for over 45 minutes
Interval day where you do 10x 100m as fast as possible with 1-2 minutes rest inbetween
A light day where you just focus on constant motion for 30-45 minutes

Also for all weight loss bros, no alcohol on weekdays. That alone usually makes me drop like 5 pounds.

Go on some soccer mom cooking website and make casseroles, soups, and stews. Four of my friends moved in together after living with their parents and not one of them can cook. They're always complaining about how expensive it is to eat, because they order food every night. Pastas and shit like that are cheap and can feed four people for a day or two and one person for a week.

That's for ten reps. His single-rep max is probably getting close to his body weight.

Anon, you need to cycle - do x10, then x5, then x3 for a few weeks each, and then test your max press before rest week. (If you aren't already, of course.)

t. Strongfat Powerlifter anon, 6' even, 285, 410lb max bench. Dieting to cut some of the unnecessary weight off, but taking it slow so I don't affect muscle. Every pound I shave off is another pound I can have in my rucksack when I go hiking.

Low carb diet. No bread, rice, pasta, beans etc. Eat allt he steak, fatty burgers (no buns), chicken (avoid sweet sauces), etc. you want. After 1-2 weeks you'll feel like total crap, like your brain doesn't work anymore, but after a few days that will pass and you'll feel the best you've felt since you were a child (this is when your body is transitioning to ketosis).

I can still lift and carry well above my body weight (once had to help coworkers moving waterlogged hay bales that weighed 65lbs each dry, I could easily carry two while my two coworkers struggled to carry one between them) and I struggle to gain weight despite eating a shitload. Might be related to the fact that energy drinks (tested Red Bull and NOS) don't affect me at all except for coffee (two cups or more) putting me in a tachycardic state for a few minutes.

6' and 140 pounds. I know that feel bro
>>
How 2 not fat:

Cut out all foods that are rich with carbs (there are lists everywhere) eat more good foods (again lists everywhere) learning to cook your own meals and cook them ahead of time will help tremendously.

Stop drinking soda, in fact all your drinks should have 0 calories and ideally be clear liquid. Drink more WATER

Do something at least once a day 5 times a week that raises your heart rate for half an hour. swimming>all. keep pushing to go longer. if you are really fat, don't run it will shreck your knees and ankles, walk first fatty.

Do something at least once a day 5 times a week that will give you sore muscles such as weight lifting, plyometrics are also good if you are REALLY fat. every 5 days you should have worked out every single major muscle group. this will allow you to gain muscle which will increase your metabolism because muscles require more calories from your body to maintain than fat.

keep track of what you lift and how much in a cheap notebook. keep raising the numbers or reps every week.

If you feel like shit or have low energy take another rest day and eat more good foods. If you still feel like shit, stop relying on motivation and start embracing the suck. Motivation is a fickle bitch but raw determination will always be there.

browse youtube for proper lifting techniques so you don't cause an injury.

read the /fit/ sticky to go into more details

Do this forever. Change your diet once you hit your desired weight.

Yeah nothing helps anxiety like arrive dyskensia and metabolic syndrome!
That shit is basically a guaranteed case of type 2 diabetes for the people prescribed it, patients gained 50lbs on average when on it 18 months. Its fucking infuriating that the VA would give you some poisonous brain killing shit like that for anxiety.

yeah well they didnt figure out that getting blown to shit can scramble your brain

i went to an outside psychistrist and he said almost exactly what you did, put me on the right drugs, and was like "lol bro you had a closet case of temporal lobe epilepsy, enjoy sanity"

That's... not a particularly good time. Train more and try again.

In the National Guard, you probably wouldn't pass the running portion of your PT test.
>>

Down from ~218 after 6 weeks of keto and caloric reduction. Feels good man.

Now I need to add exercise. I'm worried it'll be tough / physically impossible to build muscle while I lose fat, even if I'm careful to get enough protein.

Google helps. Best way to check is to visit irl. If it's a good training environment, and they have a few fighters that do well, you probably have a winner.

Want some solid advice from a vet?

Don't bother joining, assuming you don't hate life when they kick your ass at boot (Not literally beating you, you just sucking every day at boot) you'll be entering an extremely progressive environment that will blame you for your gender and race on everything.

The military isn't the military your father and grand father were in, it's a progressive organization that wastes its time in the middle east while apologizing for it.

I lost 20 pounds last year and got it all back. I'm never able to keep weight off

I think it's too late for him. I think he already swore in.
>>
>>30616907
I wouldn't have a ship date if I didn't already join. I don't regret it. Maybe someday I will but not now.
>>
>>30616918
Put down the fork. Run daily.

That's really it.
>>
>>30616919
>>30616920
Nope, wrong. Having a shipdate and going through MEPS the first time isn't signing in, the only time you actually sign in is the day before you leave for boot at MEPS. Right now you can literally just ignore your recruiter and not show up on your ship date and nothing will happen to you. Trust me on this, I've been through the military dog and pony show before.
>>
>>30616922
I would recommend lifting instead. More muscle burns more calories. Also running at that weight is hell on your knees. Swim or bike instead.

Your leg press is so low. I do that for my warm up.
>>
>>30616947
Leg press is a meme that is also terrible for your lower back.
>>
>>30616936
Running is the surefire way of losing a lot of weight due to the high calorie burn. Watching your diet will also be extremely beneficial as well.

Swimming is inferior to running because running burns far more calories as well.
>>
>>30605900
I will be totally honest, I'm not fat
>>
>>30616936
"According to the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, a 190-pound person who spends an hour lifting weights at a light or moderate effort burns about 259 calories. The same person burns about 518 calories during an hour of lifting weights at a vigorous effort, although this pace might be difficult to maintain for an hour. A 190-pound person who runs for an hour at 5.2 mph burns about 776 calories. An hour-long run at 6.7 mph results in about 949 calories burned." Running literally leaves lifting in the fucking dust dude.

>I lost 20lbs last year and gained it all back
>I weight 286lbs

Hey m8 I'm >>30611434

I've lost about 35lbs since April and it honestly wasn't hard, I just had to stop drinking soda and abusing sugar.

What's your diet like?
>>
>>30616972
Well I start out my day by eating a pound of pure sugar.
>>
>>30616972
Pretty shitty, I wake up around 12 so no breakfast. Sometimes I cook sausage and eggs sometimes I just eat tortilla chips. And dinner is usually whatever mom or dad cooks (19 BTW). However on work days I'll either make myself some ham and cheese bagels or just get Hardee's.

Oddly enough I get hungry really quick too, that could be the celiac though.
>>
>>30616979
I only do it on lifting days.

1Lb of sugar and 2lb country ham postworkout for those sickening insulin gains.
>>
>>30617006
I also eat salad sometimes
>>
>>30617006
Alright.

How much eggs and breakfast meats?
How many ham and cheese bagels, what condiments?
What do you get at hardees?
What do your parents make and how fat are they?
>>
5' 7" 135lbs

I fit nicely into the cockpit. Low weight means more fuel and shit in the back; fine by me.
>>
>>30617022
2 eggs 2 sausages
1 on most days 2 when I close up shop also no condiments
Mostly the vanilla burger with no bun
Neither are fat, dad usually makes indian, stir fry, pasta, or steak. Mom makes chicken mostly
>>
>>30616966

The trick is that lifting builds more muscle, which continues to burn more calories than fat/nothing by just existing. I'm not sure how much more.
>>
>>30616955
It's not about burning more calories, it's about not horribly fucking up your knees.
>>
>>30617048
Do you drink sugary shit or habitually eat anything other than what you've told me?

If not then you must be a wizard with power over the laws of thermodynamics.
>>
>>30617125
Coke zero definitely. I am also a habitual snacked, so that could be it.

6'5" 265 here

I find that I am not really motivated until I push myself into starting my routine. Once I actually start my sets I finish all of them though. It gets even easier when you get into a groove of working out 3-4x a week.
>>
>>30605900
I'm 6'3", not sure what I weigh, I have a bit of a beer belly but I have pretty good stamina. I'd be more worried about my knees giving out or running out of cigarettes and killing myself innawoods.
>>
>>30605900
5' 7" manlet, 201 lbs last infusion check-in. I've been gaining weight at about a pound or two a month.
Better start biking more...
>>
>>30615824
It's going to be somewhat tougher but as long as you eat about .8g of protein per pound of body weight you'll be fine. I still gained ~100lbs on my deadlift in a month or so while cutting
