I dunno. Maybe custom grips, but I don't think I'd get the metal portions engraved. Engravings don't feel very "cool" to me, partially because somebody else did most of the work

I would customized the hell of it. Like getting the exact pistol and pieces I want, grips sized for me, filing down pieces to my preference, cerakote some parts (I like the look of two-tone), tune the trigger. Doesn't even have to look great to other people, if I like it then I like it.

i'm partial to engraved SAAs, but i would never buy a laser engraved one and i could never justify the cost to have it done by hand. and as the other anon said, it would be best if i could do it myself so that it would actually feel like my gun; and so many are engraved in ways i don't care for or they have too much or too little.

I have a Norinco sks that I want personalized, as it was my second gun. The damn thing is great personally, but as most Norincos in my area are all beat up anyways. All this leaves is for me to just personalize the stock but not really butcher it. What would /k/ do with it?

To be fair, an engraved weapon is a status symbol for the most part. Unless you play to have your pistol in a glass office case like some sort of drug lord, you're better off with a rifle.

If you're rich enough to afford a masterwork, I'd recommend you use them anyway simply because you're rich enough, they're extremely well made, the gunsmith will probably offer repairs for life, and well, why the fuck not?

If I didn't carry it in woods, I'd more than likely have my BFR (45-70) inlaid in gold accents, then probably change the rubber grips out to black wood. Sadly, it's just a big target pistol due to several years of carrying and heavy usage. But hey, that's what I got it for!

Another gun I'd like to engrave is my 458 Lott. To me, the bolt (it's a CZ 550, btw) is begging for inlay work, and the receiver is needing some floral engraving.

Some of my other guns, I cannot see a purpose or reason to engrave other than being "what the owner wants/likes" just like my two choices. You can engrave anything, but it's so hard to get it "right" for everyone to enjoy and accept. There's definitive class involved in an engraved gun, I'll give you that. But an extensive cape buffalo hunt surrounded in fleur-de-lis might look odd on a hi-point pistol. Things just have to "fit", which is often done by the artist. If you want to sacrifice a finish, sometimes a new artist will engrave/inlay for free, but just remember, not all tattoo artists are gifted.

I personally looked into engravings mainly to think of ways to personalize a gun. Make it truely mine. Other way I've seen is to mod it practically to better suit your body and needs. I'd do either one if I could.

good, i love pissing people off. But I got some pictures on my old phone but it will take a year for it to charge enough to turn on. to give you a visual on the 458, it's a hooded front sight wood stocked bolt-action with a cowboy-styled flair to it. I even added some fringe to the front and back of the safari sling I have on. There's no mods to the actual rifle, other than powder-coated reloads, but it has it's own personality. As for the BFR, it's stock except for the bandolier holster, also accented with powder-coated bullets. I pretty much wanted to shoot an elephant gun for cast bullet prices, and both guns share the same diameter, so no more 120-dollar boxes of shells

I'm planning out my "legacy" gun pretty soon actually. My grandfather was a gun engraver, restorer, blacksmith etc after he retired and would engrave old colts, make custom boxes for them etc. In essence he could make a 200 dollar gun a 2000 dollar gun. There was a piece had that I always kinda eyed, it had real simple engraving on it and it was talked that when I got old enough it may be passed on to me. Well he died a number of years back and one of my siblings went in and took everything. I'm wanting to have a piece not too dissimilar from what I remember as a kid, something I could pass down from my self to my own kid/grandkid to somewhat remember that heritage.

So yeah, will it be shot? Maybe a couple of times, but not really. I have others for that purpose, this is just something I WANT. I think understanding that difference is really the big key to getting a really customized piece like that.

The game MGS 3 takes place in the past. In that game Big Boss the leader of Outer Haven in metal gear 1 and MGSV meets Revolver Ocelot for the first time. Initially Ocelot doesn't use revolvers and in his showing off with his semi automatic pistol jams his gun and is disarmed by Snake (Big Boss). I lay out the design on Corel Draw (similar to illustrator), print it in reverse on transparencies, then transfer the images.

I've been engraving seriously since 2008.

Mistakes happen, it's how you cover them up that's important.

If I ended up killing someone in a legally dubious way I wouldn't want to have used a one of a kind weapon that could be identified as mine.

I currently have a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley out to get the frame color case hardened through Wyoming Armory, and when I get it back I'll have the cylinder engraved. I intend to do a fair amount of gold inlay work as well, which I can do myself (I can engrave too but I'm nowhere good enough for presentation pieces and have no ability to conceptualize art and just follow patterns).
