To answer your other questions, both weapon systems are very reliable. The M9 is more accurate than you'll be able to shoot and the shotgun is as accurate as buckshot can be. As for advice.. don't be a Nuke, work hard, and kiss plenty ass

you fire M9 and shotgun. If your a ribbon faggot like I am you'll get with your GMs on the ship and request range training for shit like the M11, M4, M16, and even shit like a .50cal or a concussion grenade if your lucky. Firing the M16 with a range master and qualifying can get you another ribbon. I was the only booter on my ship to have 3 ribbons cause I was the only one who bothered to do extra shit. Well fuck though, I've heard they have faggy ribbons now just for completing bootcamp and the chair force can use their cell phones so bootcamp is totally fucked.

Depending on your rate and if you go to a ship then you will shoot to maintain proficiency once a year. I don't think you even shoot the M4 in boot camp, just the pistol and shotgun. It's the most entertaining 40 minutes of boot camp but even then they make it a totally gay and uncomfortable experience. Same way in the fleet as well.
