Why aren't all modern 1911's a1 models???
>>
>>30563929
Because they're, for most people, a range toy.
Thus, instead of what's best, what people want is what they like better.
Therefore it makes no difference.
>>
The majority of new production 1911's have most of those features, but the humped mainspring housing never really caught on, and trigger length is decided now not by the manufacturer, but by the needs of the user.

So why is this even considered an a1?
>>
>>30564023
I actually don't think it's useful to call something like that one or the other, but what it all comes down to, for me, is that you can swap out the parts to make any 1911 look pretty much like either an M1911 or a 1911A1, but the one thing you can't change is the frame. Those finger clearance cuts in the frame behind the trigger are what make that an A1-type 1911.

that is just what Springfield chooses to call it.
>>
>>30564065
I mean it does look cut different but I can't see what your talking about does the frame look physically different on the outside?
>>
>>30564023
because it has the A1 cut by the trigger. Everything else can be changed to proper A1 parts besides that.

Really? Here. I circled it for you. This is really the only A1 feature that can't be changed with a parts swap.
>>
>>30564208
Thank you lol I just realized I was overlooking number 2 in ops pic
>>
Surprisingly, different people like different things. I personally would love to own an early commercial m1911.
>>
>>30564378
Me too, more specifically a pre WW1 'Government Model', but those cost an arm, a leg, and your kidneys.

I actually like the the pre-A1 style better
there's not a whole lot of options for that though.
the 2011 100th anniversary, the 1968 50th anniversary WWI battle commemorative models, the 1981 70th anniversary (pic related), shot to shit milsurp guns, and these >>30564378 >>30564601

the Cimarron ones have a nice look and are a weird A1/pre-A1 combo of features
>>

Why would we stop at A1

I don't own them both, but the A1 does have a larger ejection port
>>
>>30566553
What is supposedly different about it?
>>
>>30566609
lower cut
wider opening
>>
>>30566627
I'm looking at 2 pictures of them both and I don't see a difference. I also can't find reference to it online.
>>
>>30566661
You need to look harder. It's lowered quite a bit and this is well known. In part it's due to modern ammo like hollow points.
>>
>>30566938

>In part it's due to modern ammo like hollow points.

First of all, "modern hollow points" didn't exist in 1924
Secondly, bullet construction has nothing to do with case ejection.
>>
>>30566980
I'm talking about how low they are right now, not the A1.
>>
>>30567071
Well that makes you the only one.
>>
>>30567085
Doesn't change how they started lowering it back with the A1.
>>
>>30566258
there was literally nothing wrong with New Coke. Coca-Cola was just fucking retarded to stop selling the original. They should have just made two products.

an A1

after looking at many 1911-1950 production guns, to my eyes, there could be some SMALL variation, but i think that might be more from other lines on the pistol varying slightly than the actual ejection port being bigger. however it looks like you're talking about the truly lowered ports you see on many of the more modern 1911s, so it's a moot point.

the Colt Series 70 that they make now are very much like a late production A1.
>>
>>30567944

I have the series 80 and i love it, only shot around 70 rounds from it thus far but it shot like a dream. Way better than my POS ass rock island

trigger is a little spongy but still very clean break which has its merits in a defensive use
>>
>>30566258

They made new Coke different and "bad" so that people would demand a return to regular Coca-Cola, which had just traded sugar for HFCS. Clever move, most people didn't even notice.
>>
>>30568220
i dont understand why Colt/springfield cant seem to make a plain jane 1911a1 without molesting it with some off color part I.E. Hammer/ barrel bushing.
Im so triggered about this

I'm glad that I live in a country where coke is still made with sugar, with the added bonus of it being first world and not Mexico.

Cimmaron makes a mostly pre-A1 spec 1911 if you're interested, you could restitute the other pre-A1 features with some replacement parts.

I have one. Here are the features I've found to be different:
Blued instead of parkerized
Sights are higher profile
Hammer is a different shape and stainless steel
Series 80 hammer (has a quarter-cock notch instead of half-cock), but still Series 70 system.
No lanyard loop
Thumb safety has a longer ledge
Different grips
Barrel isn't completely blued. The part that shows in the ejection port is unfinished.
