Is $330 too much for pic related. I need a no frills shotgun for HD.

Mossberg is better

I'd go with a Mossberg 500. I prefer the 870, but Remington under Cerberus sucks.
>>
>>30536490
$250 would be a fair price
>>
I'm just going to throw in the model 37 into the discussion because someone has to.

Mossberg Maverick 88....199.00
>>
It's time to convert to Mossberg.
>>
>>30536589
This. I recommend one to anyone who wants a shotgun doesn't doesn't want anything special. Plus tons of parts for the 500/590 shotguns are compatible with it, but not all.

this. or go with a H&R pardner pump or, ideally, a IAC Hawk 982/tactical (pic related) which are based off the rem 870. Hawk is built like a tank. I got mine for $180 on buds
>>
>>30536688
The Pardner and Hawk are both Norinco 870s, they just have different stuff on them.
>>
>>30536714

I believe you are right. I and an old roomate had both of them so we compared and the receiver and internals appear to be the same. However the Hawk has ghost ring sights (not cheap) whereas the parnder has a cheap gold bead thingy
>>
Used mossbergs can be had for less than 300. Keep looking!

If you want a remy find a pre 2000's one.
>>
Mossberg maverick 88 is $180 brand new ($200 even after tax) at my local big 5. No shilling here, my mav 88 has been nothing but reliable and aftermarket parts (pistol grips, stocks and the like) are interchangable with the mossberg 500. Best HD/truck gun/you best marry my daughter gun i can think of

330-350s normal for a new express
now should you buy a new express is a different can of worms but nothings wrong with the price
rems got a rebate for 50 bucks back right now

Might I suggest a Stevens? It's just as cheap as the Maverick.
>>
>>30537739
I own a Savage 69RXL Series E which is a fantastic little shotgun. Savage owns Stevens now and I have no idea if the quality is comparable but savage at least used to make good shotguns. I'd check them out.
>>
is a used 500 worth $280 in CA? i think it seems fair
>>
>>30538102
its ok assuming 280 out the door 250 would be better but its not that much anyways
>>
>>30536490
Go down to your local walmart, they should have mossberg 500 with 5 shot tube and 28" vent rib barrel for $267 brand new. Buy this, then sell the barrel on ebay for $180- $200. Then buy an 18.5 inch barrel on ebay for $70-$90. Now you have mossberg 500 with 18.5" barrel for $137- $177.
>>
I really want a cheap as shit shotgun with wood furniture to carve some shit on.
what are my options?
looking to buy brand new because I ain't hunting for a shotgun you think I can get off from Bubba for $50.
>>
>>30541732
pardner pump or hawk982 with some ebay takeoff 870 wood furninute. your not going to find a new "cheap" shotgun with wood on it since all the cheap guns use plastic
>>
>>30541732

>>
>>30541778
I was afraid of this. oh well. thanks for the answer
>>
>>30539958
This should be stickied.

I'd even say keep the long barrel so you can have 'that' much more capability out of one gun
>>
>>30536490
I picked up a Remington 870 express magnum for 200$, look around local and find a cheap shotgat and cut it down if you want to.
>>
Pawnshops always have cheap pumpguns in fine mechanical shape. Bought a Mossy 500 20ga with a ribbed barrel someone chopped down to 18" for 150 bucks. Bought a 12ga topper for 60 with no rust but a dinged up stock.

Rock Island Armory M5 Nickel 12-Gauge Pump Security Shotgun.

It goes for around $249 around here at the Big 5 Sporting Goods stores. I heard nothing but good things about this shotgun and its price.
>>
>>30544063
$250 is kinda steep? I got mine for only $200 at big 5.
>>
Do the newer Ithaca model 37 shotguns still have the slamfire feature?
>>
The Mossberg 500 comes in three versions, which one is has best versatility desu?
>>

Don't think so.

Apologies in advance, but I'm currently a noguns faggot (fixing this before too long).

Could some kind anon inform me what HD stands for?
>Google is no help since all I get are results for high definition pictures of guns
>>
>>30544063
Sexy, is that long barrel a stock feature?
>>
>>30544672
Home Defence

In case you also don't know, shotguns are considered ideal by some because of low risk of over-penetration. Personally I'd go semi-retard shotty but that jacks the price up.

I consider most of this stuff pretty esoteric from a zero context perspective.
>>
>>30544707
Well you aren't wrong.

Some of the discussions on open/closed bolt systems or other internal features play out just like if I began talking about LAN, WAN, RAM, SSD to my relatives who can't into computers. I like to think I'm learning a bit here and there though.
>>
>>30544707
>>30544733

It's a highly technical field.

Remember: Modern guns wouldn't exist if you didn't have a fuckton of engineers sperging over them.
>>
>>30536490
What about benelli supernova? What I plan on getting.
>>
>>30546765

FANTASTIC gun.
>>
>>30544704
kek
>>
>>30546765
I've used one and it was kinda weird, but it worked just fine.
>>
Old remmy is nice, new rummy is garbage.
Just get a mossberg 500 and call it a day. It's a surefire way to get a quality firearm for not a lot of money.
>>
>>30546765

solid choice.
>>
>>30537739
The Stevens 320, is if memory serves a winnie 1300 clone by Sun City Machinery of the PRC. I've heard there's slightly less build quality/fit and finish on them compared to the Norinco 870s but it's all scuttlebutt. I've never seen one in person. Felt an old sun city 870(?) up and was rather disappointed. It looked well worn but the finish was absolute garbage even for how used it looked. Had just about the roughest pump I've ever encountered on a shotgun.
>>
>>30537739
I know a guy that has this. I like it a lot, but there isn't much for aftermarket

>>30536589
I would go with this. I have a 500 and my brother-in-law has an 88. We both love our funs. I would go with a 590 if i had $200 extra to spend on a scatter gun.

>>30544063
>Rock Island Armory
not even once

I was looking hard at a Rem 870 a few years ago, but their QC has gone to complete shit.
>>
>>30544685

I think it's standard but it's been some time since I've seen one in my Big 5 (correction btw - I think I overshot the price of 250 it's probably less)
>>
>>30551133
>but there isn't much for aftermarket
Wouldn't it take Winchester 1300 parts?

Also what's wrong with Rock Island Armory? Their 1911s are good, are their shotguns not?
>>
>>30551623
the 1911s work and are cheap the shot gun works and is cheap but other better shotguns exist in that price range

>>30536589
this plus random side saddle and Hogue 12" lop stock to square up a lot better. Still under $300 new.
