you need to start reloadan boy
>>
>>30524273
That's a huge, long term investment. I've thought about it many times, but it always seems pricey and time consuming.
>>
>>30522435
even though youre a reloader thats the most 357/38spl ive seen a kommando ever have on here good job. tgus board is always low on 357 and buckshot for some reason.
>>
>>30524512
no its really not. if you bought just regular bench loading stuff its cheap but it you get into turrets and auto things yeah its pricey. it takes like an hour to load a hundred bullets so if you did it 5 times a week you'd have 500 rounds of 357 to shoot on the weekend. if you buy powde buy the kg then you use 5+ (maybe)grains on bullets youll lats a long time. you sound like an idiot

Whats a good amount of ammo to have on hand for someone who wants to have some just in case and shoots several times a month. I have an AR and 3 handguns(2 9mm and 1 .45)
>>
>>30528052
The rule I have is to have a 10 month stash ahead of your monthly usage.
If you go to the range and use up 300 rounds in a monthly session, then the stockpile should be 3000 minimum.
If you only go only 50 rounds a month (bolt gun/shotgun/really long range and expensive rounds), then 500 might do you well as a minimum.
You can always have more, but that is the main rule that I work with.
>>
>>30528373
Also, you don't need to climb up all the way to the maximum at the start. You can start saving a box or two from each range trip to get to that amount. If you plan on really long term storage, I suggest the use of ammo cans and desiccants.
>>
>>30528373
Appreciate it, anon. Thanks for the tip. One more question, with this being an election year, is there a number of mags I should have? All I have is the one stock P-mag that came with my AR and the stock mags from the Glocks. New to long guns so not sure what to buy add on wise.
>>
>>30528409
My personal ideal would be 10 mags per primary semiauto rifle, 6 to 10 mags per primary handgun, and anything else can have anywhere from 3 to 5 mags.
If the rifle is something that might get close to getting banned, then just stock up to whatever you deem makes sense for you.
People mostly stock up on 30 rounders for rifles, and the 30+ rounders for the Glocks, because chances are those could get banned easier than 10 or 15 round mags.
Just a warning: the cost adds up fast if you decide to do this in one go. But sometimes, it might be wise to do it faster before the election rush.
>>
>>30528512
>Just a warning: the cost adds up fast if you decide to do this in one go. But sometimes, it might be wise to do it faster before the election rush.
That's my concern being in school and kinda broke but with this being an election year idk if I want to be left out if anything does get banned in whatever event that should happen.
>>
>>30528016
that shelf looks like it's about to cave in anon.
>>
>>30528562
Magazines would be the priority buys over ammunition stockpiles then. Ammo would be hard to ban unless you live in California with their new laws. Magazine limits are far easier to pass through Congress if the power balance ever shifts because of "pro-gun" Republicans/Libertarians/Independents not prioritizing 2A over other priorities this election.

>>30528409
oh sweet tits anon, buy some more mags.

You'll need to reload the mags less at the range which is always convenient, you can sell them if you need cash, they last forever, and if shit ever happens you have 'em for self defense.

PMags are going for between 10 and 15 bucks. Grab some. I'd also get some steel/aluminum mags because PMag feed lips can deform over time if stored full of ammo. Doesn't really kill them but doesn't hurt to be prepared.

So yeah go out and buy like, 3 PMags and 3 steel mags.

And avoid Promag/Thermold like the fucking plague.
>>
>>30528593
yeah those shelves are really weak. there is only a light box of ammo on it and the 1PN34 scope which isn't that heavy either.
>>
>>30528597
>Ammo would be hard to ban unless you live in California with their new laws
>Live in California
I've done some crazy shit, anon, but never that crazy. Thanks for answering my questions, think I'll buy some more P-Mags or 33rd for my Glock(s)
>>
>>30528052
Mec-Gar makes quality OEM magazines for most handguns at half the price of normal brand magazines.

If you have a Glock, Magpul and ETS make good polymer mags for 15 bucks each.
>>
>>30528409
I've got about 30-40 AR and AK mags. I have 2 ARs and 3 AKs.

PSA sells some really nice DH mags for like $6-7 apiece and they're really nice. I've also got a bunch of C products and other cheap aluminum mags that have all been good. A bunch of Lancers and some pmags. Lots of places to get em cheap.
>>
>>30528628
kek I had to pay for summer classes and my AR, anon. Times are tough, but you guys are right. I'm going to buy a few mixed ones to have on hand. Are the windowed P-Mags hokey? I think they look aesthetically nice and have some what practical application
>And avoid Promag/Thermold like the fucking plague.
appreciate the pro tip
>>30528664
I'll check them out, can't hurt to have a few extra handgun mags just in case.

http://palmettostatearmory.com/d-h-5-56-30rd-aluminum-magazine-8416.html

Sometimes they go on sale for $6.99 but they are pretty good mags. Lanbos armory sometimes has pretty good cheap mags on sale and they have like $10 flat rate shipping.
>>
>>30528689
Isn't C products made of steel?
>>
>>30528628
>>30528689
How many brands of AR magazines are out there?
>>
>>30528797
Sorry, I meant ASC. If you have a Fleet Farm nearby, they had a bunch of $6 AR mags last week.
>>
>>30528807
A lot
>>
>>30528795
Whats your guys thoughts on the 40rd mags for the AR? I got a Daniel Defense and they just released a 32rd magazine, any idea why they would do that when 30 is the standard? so you can 'top it off'?
>>
>>30529072
Seems like DD did it just to show you can within the same space as a normal mag. I have one of the 32 rounders and they're really hard to load with stripper clips, the little grooves are too shallow.
>>
>>30528628

> PMag feed lips can deform over time if stored full of ammo. Doesn't really kill them but doesn't hurt to be prepared

Is that why some come with the clip on top?

Before I got the industrial shelves I used book shelves similar to yours. get you a 2x4 and cut it in lengths relating to your shelf heights and put them in the middles from bottom to top. this will significantly increase the load bearing capacity and safety of your shelves.

"Did this myself so I know it works'

also your welcome lol
>>

Nice trips OP.

>TFW you have 5 or 6 times more ammunition than posted ITT in total.
Someday I'll post pics of my ammo, it's just so much work getting it all together for pics.
>>
>>30533212
Pics or its a lie
>>
>>30533318
Not today. It would take a day just to stack it together for the pics. I'm talking like 3,000 pounds of rounds.
>>
>>30528702
I wouldn't go with more than 2 spare mags for any one handgun (3 mags total).

If you ever need more than 2 spare magazines for a handgun then you should be using a rifle, and money spent on handgun mags is money eating into your rifle mags.

Now if you like doing competitions or whatever then it's completely different.
>>
>>30533405

don't be dumb. stop doing that.

>>

Thunderfuck is shit I'll give you that. But I've gone through a couple thousand golden bullets in my bolt action without a single fail to fire. I feel like your "600" estimate is exaggerating. Or you happened to buy an old lot formerly submerged in lake Michigan. In fact now that I think about it I havnt had any .22 fail to fire for a couple years atleast.

Or your gun has an issue with light strikes.

whats the best place to get bulk ammo? just wait for deals at big stores or order online?

I wait for good deals online. They can be had. Great bulk proved+ no shipping=better than a brick and mortar store.
>>
>>30537251

>>30533008
Are you saying put them horizontally under the shelves to support them, or vertically as a standing support? I've been thinking about putting one under the 2nd shelf to support the 1PN34 since even that is making it bend.

>>30534772
thanks, I also have a crate of Yugo surplus x39, a can of 54r and some 9mm in my closet. One day I will have a house and an industrial shelf that I can put everything on, but my apartment is limited for space
