I've only had handguns and shotguns and now i'm looking to get my first AR soon.

I was recommended Daniel Defense by several people. Is this a meme normie brand or is is actually good quality?

Is ~$1,500 a good budget for a high quality first AR?

DD uppers are fine, DD furniture sux dick.

Does that $1500 include optic? If yes, then it's not enough. If no, it's plenty. Yes, we want you to/you're expected to pay at least $400 for an optic.

Avoid PTAC products, NiB anything, busy rollmarks, and polymer lowers. Avoid proprietary handguard mounting systems, get either M-Lok or Keymod (or a quad rail if you can tolerate the weight). You want a light, and that light should be a Surefire.

Build one you silly willy. You can buy any stripped lower you want so you can pretty much cheap out on one. The parts for the lower are more substantial and where you don't want to cheap out especially the trigger group.

BCM, PSA, and DD uppers are pretty good. Do not cheap out on your upper or your optic for that matter.

That wasn't for the optics. I don't have a budget for it yet.

Final budget is hard capped at $2,000.

The reason I've put it so high is that I'm trying to reduce the amount of guns I have to a handful of quality over a safe full o tons of pistols, shotguns, and inevitably ARs that I don't shoot very often.

I've lurked AR threads a little and I don't really have any interest in getting too involved with piecing it together from the screws up. I don't mind changing out things like the furniture or things like that.

I was united with my HULDRA Lower receiver, my PSA premium BCG, and my KAC rear sight. Also picked up another PMAG to start this ride with.
