Pickett's charge seemed so uncharacteristic of Lee.

The entire battle was a clusterfuck from before it even started since Jackson was dead and Stuart decided to run off and turn a scouting mission into his own mini-campaign.
Also didn't help that the battle kind of just arose as two small units found each other, started fighting, sent runners off to report the enemy, and then more and more units showed up.
Reminder that this magnificent bastard probably saved the Union.
Just yesterday I started reading Hardtack and Coffee by John Billings, it's about the life of a soldier in the Union Army.
Pretty good read so far. For those who want it:

>uncharacteristic of Lee.
t. doesn't know anything about Lee except the vague idea that he was amazing because people said so.
