Had these pieces of shit for 10 years and still going strong. Just cleaning them with dish soap and rubbing them with canola oil once a year or so.

Those in >>30446193 are my most recent three pairs of boots, the S&W pairs were incredibly comfortable, but obviously didn't hold up well to cactus in Texas or canoeing/hiking in the Midwest. They each lasted 2 years before the sole began to separate, but might have lasted more had I ever bothered to clean/maintain them or had the discipline to stop hiking when I started dragging my toes.

They're actually comfortable enough that I'm going to try to patch, seal, and mend the second pair to get them to hold up for another year.

Here's hoping the Bates last a little longer. Their light weight probably makes them worth buying every few years if I run into the same sole separation problem.

Sorry for not responding right away, I was trying to make a pyramid out of glass coke bottles and got distracted.

Well basically I lost a game of poker between some friends, and the bet was that one of us would go out on the hiking trails in a g-string and scare some tourists and what have you. Anyway, we arranged a date, and I bought the g-string. I'm weird, so the elephant one really called out to me. Anyway, I basically completely forgot about this penalty I had to carry out, and the night before I did about 4 grams of shrooms, which lasts me quite a few hours. So when they came to get me, I had no clue what was going on, and was basically thrown into the back of their pickup with while half-consciously trying to put on the g-string as I realized what was happening.

Anyway, as they described it to me, I was basically just dizzily stumbling down a trail with my arms sticking out to try to help me keep balance. I was doing that for at least 45 minutes, due to it being really hard to get bored in nature when you're on shrooms. About 20 or so minutes it, the g-string apparently fell off. I came to/woke up in the bed of their truck driving down the bumpiest gravel road I've ever been on, wondering where the fuck I am. Also I'm not sure if this was just the afterglow, but I'm pretty sure they were blaring "That's Life" by Frank Sinatra on the radio loud enough for the birds and squirrels to be running away.
