This was pretty good. Only movie I ever liked Shia Labeuf in. If I had to describe it in one phrase I would say. "A bunch of douche bags in a tank" or "Best job I ever had."

Oh lol no.

The battle scenes were hilarious, something you'd expect out of a comic book adaptation. Don't even know why they bothered pulling that DAK early Tiger I out of storage.

It's got the same theme as Kelly's Heros. Kind of a mockery of war films.

I caught the new season premiere a few nights ago and just started binge watching it from the beginning. It kicks ass. Great effects, varied locations, and there's actual momentum to the story, doesn't just stagnate for ages like some post apocalyptic shows (looking at you, Walking Dead)

> Episode 1
> US missile destroyer is sent on a 4-month radio silence mission to the arctic, comes under attack from Russian gunships, come to learn that a (regular, non-zombie) virus has infected 80% of the world's population, planet is in full SHTF mode, China literally nuking its own cities. USS Nathan James is on its own to develop and distribute a cure. The ship narrowly avoids being nuked en route to France and discovers a cruise ship filled with infected.

> Episode 2
> Crew stops at Guantanamo Bay to restock and refuel, comes under fire from fucking escaped Al-Qaeda detainees, picks up a crazy PMC guy cause why not?
> Episode 3
Old, re-activated Russian vessel carrying nuclear fuckin' missiles traps the USS NJ in the bay, one of the scientists developing the cure turns out to be a double agent, the Captain has to get creative and go completely balls-out to outsmart the Russian commander who's a total sociopath motherfucker
> Episode 4
> First "low-key" episode of the series, crew has to figure out how not to die of starvation and thirst when their engines fuck up

So far so good. I'm hooked.
>>

I'm that fag that always comes to these threads when I have the chance, to recommend "Run Silent, Run Deep", from 1958, with Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster.

Its personally my favorite submarine movie; great cast, cool story, portraits the interior of a submarine somehow realistically, and show the almost forgotten, at least in movies, US submarine warfare in the pacific.

The plot is not 100% realistically, and the effects are quite dope sometimes, but the first is to be expected from a movie from the 50's, and the latter gives the movie part of his charm.
>>
As this thread is also about books, someone know if the book "Panzer Commander: The Memoirs of Colonel Hans Von Luck" is any good? I was thinking on buying it in amazon.

Also, someone know any good read about the air battles of the WWII, mainly about dogfights, with first hand accounts and such?

I believe it was supposed to be a mini series, hence the lenght of the film.

But WoT faggots knows that the Tiger is a tier 7 tank and gets matched up with tier 9's that it has a hard time doing anything too... while at the same time its armor is made of paper.

The Tiger II is a smidge better but not by much. Tier 9 and 10's steamroll it because the power difference between tiers is laughable.

This movie doesnt understand physics tho.

If Im not mistaken, at the range they fought that Tiger their rounds should go right through the front armour.
>>
>>30417681
It had some good aspects, where they did put decent effort into it. But I get the feeling they fucked up by having the Sherman fight against so many anti tank guns yet have none of them do anything. I'd just ask for them to lose one damn Sherman along the way other than against the Tiger. Also, the Tiger battle was full of myths more than anything else.

So do all you guys watch movies? Where are the good books?
My favorites
Without remorse -Tom Clancy
Bear and the dragon - Tom Clancy
Rainbow Six- Tom Clancy
Any of the Jack Ryan and John Clark Series is a good read really. His other books are OK, but some of the books where he used ghost writers are trash.
I also like Brad Thor and his Scott Havarth series, very good reads but he does pander to sponsors with regards to weapons use and their names.
I like notes of a sniper, Vasili Zaitsev. It's a good read
Charlie rangers by Don Erickson is a great read for the Vietnam types. Actual accounts of lrp in Vietnam.
The Green Berets by Robin Moore is also another great read but it can be a little dry.
Panzers in the sand and Panzer aces are both fun ones if you like North Africa.

1944 was pretty good.

It's About Estonians, fighting in Estonia funnily enough and in 1944, which you might have guessed from both the Soviet and German perspective. More of a focus on the soldiers than the battles themselves, though the few that get featured are pretty cool. Can't vouch for accuracy though

I almost were in this movie as an soldier - had conscription at time of making this movie so I couldn't be background actor. Few of my friends were in this movie as background soldiers ... - I think I have some pictures of battlefield sets somewhere.

Sahara is pretty good. The 1995 remake isn't awful either.

Starship troopers and moon is a harsh mistress confirmed bretty gud.

Starship Troopers movie is also pretty good if you go in with zero expectations, those cgi melee aliens were nasty and good ahead of their time.

It's 'A Serbian Film' tier disturbing. An nearly 4 hours long. Avoid it unless you're an edgy teen. If you can find a copy, it's banned almost anywhere that isn't a degenerate shithole.

Anyway

I liked 9th Company, even if it was a little silly.
Nice to see some real vehicles in action.
