"NO RAPID FIRE"
>>
>>30410031
I'm in upstate NY and I've never been to a range that has this rule.
>>
>>30410064
That's because you only get to shoot rubber band guns.
>>

>>
>>30410083
I went to a range in NY once. Everyone was just running around with their fingers pointed, yelling "Pwew, pwew, gotcha!"
>>
>>30410031
God damn I hate ranges like this.

Theres an outdoor one like 15 minutes from my house, but it's shit like everything else in MD so I drive 45 minutes to go to a good range.

>NO RAPID FIRE
>FROM THE BENCH ONLY
>PAPER BULLSEYE TARGETS ONLY
>AT EITHER 50 YARDS OR 100 YARDS, NO IN-BETWEEN
>SLUGS ONLY FOR SHOTGUN
any range that has those kind of rules is a range that should be dropped.

Well memed friend. On a more serious note while im completely fucked in terms of owning un molested firearms i can have a taste of freedom by renting them (at least at my range). Got to mag dump a 75 round drum through an rpk. Looking forward to removing my cuck status when i move eventually.
>>
>>30410031
Had a local range where the RO got pissed at me for rapid fire, he said I had to wait 3 seconds between shots when the sign said 1 second.

Still a good range for sighting in optics, and that's all I use it for.

hey man, its a doggy dog world and gun ranges are a diamond dozen.
>>
>>30410368
There's an even worse one. I believe it's the kenmore range that only allows one round in your gun at a time. Now, I've never been there to check, but that's what I heard from a /k/ommando on here, and if it's true, I think that may be one of the worst ranges in the state

I went to a trap range with a mag-fed 870 clone.
Pop mag in, rack slide....shoulder tap.
"What?"
"One round at a time."
"What?"
"Only one round at a time."
"Your joking."
*silent glare*
"Fuck sakes."
*operator mag flip*
*process to ejection port load each round*
"This range sucks ass."

The outdoor range near me is only $3 an hour but has a couple shitty rules: One shot every three seconds and you must choose either standing or sitting for each 15 minute "hot" period, no switching until the next session.

Closest indoor doesn't have these rules, and no fudd or condescending ROs bothering you, but it's $18 plus tax for an hour.
>>

It true.

My range is a 600yrd rifle range, fee is 75$ a year, steel targets at 100, 300, 400, 600 yrds. Generally no range officers around, and the ones that do come around at bro-tier old men who like to talk about garands.

Feels pretty great man, mfw the club president asked me to join our rifle team.

>of the few public ranges I've been to, all the ROs did was safety checks and making sure no asshole brought birdshot to the paper target side of the range.
>>
>>30410620
Yep. The target stands have two rubber/foam backings, top and bottom. Top for standing and bottom for bench. You can only change targets every 15 minutes. It makes absolutely no sense to me, as it doesn't keep people from shooting the roof or floor.
>>30410663
I have land to shoot on, but it's about 90 minutes away and not always feasible during the week.
>>

That being said, you are very right. Stalker challenges are fun as balls here.
>>

It has nothing to do with good shooting form. Some people just get off on trying to control what other people do.

These are the same people that keep a copy of the bylaws printed out so they can call the city any time they see someone watering their lawn or making noise past 8PM.

Wait, really? Trap and skeet is literally a two round sport. That's why you have those excessively expensive o/u shotguns, for that exact sport.

You know of a trap range which won't let you practice the sport? What the fuck.
>>
>>30410891
>he rents the falcon

Just bring your own.
>>
>>30410461
I know nothing of trap, but my local range has the one round rule.

You only load double in a SxS or O/U if you're shooting two targets at a time.

Don't ask me, those were the rules as explained to me the first day I showed up and I figured it was a competition/safety deal.

My local outdoor range just doesn't allow fmj on the rifle range(court ordered due to a bounce off the berm that hit a house) no 50bmg, and no rapid fire. Also when cease fire is called all guns must be set on the bench open and clear and you can't be at the bench during cease fire at all or it is instant ejection and your range card gets cut. On the plus side, it is a safe range. No "one bullet rules" and suppressors are allowed as well
>>
>>30410110
A range I go to has most of these rules. A lot of it comes down to ease of maintenance. They set their target stands at certain ranges and don't want to have to move them back every day. Paper targets only (not bullseye only here tho) is easy to enforce clean up and do your self when people leave a mess. No rapid fire typically makes things easier for an RO. It's a club and is 100% volunteer operated so anything to cut costs helps.

There's another nearby that allows rapid fire, set up any target you want as long as RO says it's not dangerous, any distance. It's alright, but the crowd it attracts as a result is noticeably less serious about marksmanship or practice. Not necessarily saying it's related, but they've had far more accidents too.
>>
>>30411400
>but they've had far more accidents too.

This is the reason why there are so many tightass ranges. Stupid people shooting themselves or others.
>>

They actually have a 30 or so question quiz that you have to take if you're new, and getting a single wrong fails. And cameras recording all shooters. I'd rather just deal with no rapid fire and enjoy a better atmosphere where i know the guy next to me is responsible.
>>
>>30411578
>They actually have a 30 or so question quiz that you have to take if you're new, and getting a single wrong fails.

This is the range where people shoot themselves or one another more often than other ranges, correct?

Can you not read? Anon is talking about barricades facing downrange.

>>
>>30411617
Sweet Jesus. The other range I go to just has a sign on the wall that the RO tells you to read. They might watch you setup and shoot a few rounds if it's your first visit.
>>
>>30410110
My local county range doesn't have rules that strict, I'm surprised how many private ranges have their heads up their own asses.
>Want to lay down/go prone, stand up, or sit? Sure man whatever!
>Rapid fire away, fuck it!
>Fire from the hip, why not?
>Want to fire a 20mm or a musket? Fuck, we don't give a shit!
Only stipulation is not getting to your target until seize fire and the fact there aren't holes in the ground for your standing targets at non-traditional ranges (so you basically get 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 yards)

What kills me is the older fudd RSO's who watch younger people like hawks but let older beginners get away with (almost literal sometimes) murder.

At the local indoor range which I hate but it's close and the weather is pretty unpredictable here a few weeks ago I racked a snap cap like maybe a foot downrange, grabbed the squeegee broom they have and pulled it back in and, I have no idea why, but the RSO chewed my fucking head off about how I should have declared cold range before I did that and blah blah blah, even though I wasn't downrange at all.

That same trip this reckless group of rednecks were doing all kinds of stupid shit, including chambering rounds at the table and then sweeping everyone and their mother. No problem with them though.
>>
> no rapid fire
> no FMJ
> no more than 3 rounds in magazine+chamber

Yeah you're definitely just a butthurt millenial faggot who doesn't know what he's doing. Just obey the rules and you won't have a problem.

Why did you bring snap caps to a range? Why did you eject it downrange like an idiot? Why didn't you just wait five minutes to retrieve your precious fake bullet?

You are literally whining about being a stupid person. That's no one's fault but your own, kiddo.

No, we don't all know that.

Just wait for the range to go cold and pick up your fake bullet. You are so profoundly butthurt and defensive about this, and I have no idea why.

You did something that was plainly wrong, you were corrected, you know that it's wrong and you know that you won't do it again, and yet...you're still trying to defend yourself.

Just stop doing this. Stop doing stupid shit at the range, and stop trying to defend yourself from anonymous strangers on the internet. If you're this dead-set on making a fool of yourself on /k/, I can't even imagine what you're like IRL. You must be absolutely insufferable.

It's a barricade forward of the shooting bench that shooters have to fire under. It keeps you from firing while standing. It's downrange.

For whatever reason most of the ranges around me insist you take your rifle out of the case in the parking lot but leave your pistol in the case.

The only reason I can possibly think of is just a space issue. Perhaps they don't want cases everywhere.
>>
>>30412027
I've never understood what purposes the "muzzles up" rule serves. An ND is always bad but wouldn't be better to put one into the dirt and worst case scenario skip over the berm than to shoot one into the air?

Shit like the capacity and calling empty mag are fucking stupid, but do you people really not understand why ranges don't allow placing targets closer than the designated range? Their berms probably aren't very tall and shooting at the top of a closer in target could send rounds over the top. Or those ranges were approved when getting state/county approval and they'd get shut down for violating it.

The range near me has one rule: no burst or full auto fire on Sunday. Everything else goes, 100% serious.

My range is run by a bunch of fudds who tolerate 'salt rifles'.

So far since I joined... They've:

>put in cameras an a fobb system. Like they seriously went all big brother.
>locked down the rifle range only for range officer supervision on select days and times.
This is because the hill that was a backdrop was left to sit for too long and owner for tired of the range not buying it, so they sold off the too portion and a couple regards causes ricochets that were found a mile or two away in a parking lot. So they're thinking of keeping it that way or making sit down mandatory benches.
>banned shotshell Because they got pussy about having to replace the backboard so much and are too stupid to invest in something smarter.
>council is pretty much the fudd brothership. Doesn't let in any "youngins who don't think rifles are only fur shootin durr"

They just seem to wonder why they lost critical membership numbers and why next year I'm probably moving to greener pastures.

The management treats it like a Hobby and lets the indoor range 49th and isn't even considering buying the hill that's our backdrop so that the owner doesn't take more away and ruin the already castrated rifle range.

Seriously. If a range officer isn't on duty you can only shoot at the 30 yards max pistol range. And a lot of the ROs get pussy of you aren't just sighting in your durr rifle.

So if they don't clean it up by next year I don't care if I have to drive 5 miles away (thank God I love in PA) the convenience of driving maybe a Mile away for a castrated range.

Seriously Walnut creek gun club. Stop wasting money on fences and fix your indoor range and rifle range.

Fucking idiots...

Sorry for venting /k/omrads but I feel this is the place if any.

>>
>>30412353
Worst part is they seem to know people are getting pissed. 15-16% of the membership renewals were sent back blank with "Bring back the rifle range" scribbled across it. Yet they want to play around and waste more money on trying to make backstops that fall apart if you shoot at them wrong instead of buying that damn worthless hill and keeping then from eating it up any more for fill soil.

Then they had the idea that they want to put a blind on the rifle range shelter and make it mandatory sit. Worst part is they still want it to be RSO manned. Yet they only have fuddcore volunteers who show up maybe half the times they're supposed to. I would volunteer, buuuuuuut they will not pay for the course that they want all RSOs to take and they won't give me anything back for service so... Fuck that. (Not even free two years membership to make up for the cost of the training.)

You get free reign over the rifle range if you get that... Buuut if anyone wants on it I'd have to be babysitter.

The indoor range is a while nother bitch. Its aged but still good for pistol and .22 rifle even during the winter. But those dumbasses have a gas heater and won't fix the ventilation. So if you don't for from lead poisoning from breathing in the gunsmoke a gas leak might just kill you.

They got about 9 months to do something. Then I'm moving to gem city gun club. Fuck walnut creek, gave them years and they only take away more from us.

Why are there so many ranges that don't allow FMJ? Do people mean steel core, because I can understand that restriction for indoor range and some outdoor ranges. Otherwise, restrictions on FMJ seems pretty fucking dumb. I was stationed on Oahu for three years.

>only one outdoor public range
>45 min drive just to get there
>usually a waiting list on weekends
>only five rounds allowed in magazine
>no rapid fire
>no human targets of any kind
>RSOs are usually assholes
>backstop is a crater with a trail on it
>can see people on the trail while firing
>had steel targets at 200 and 300 yards
>range had to take them down after a house reportdedly had a stray bullet hit it

On the plus side, it's an awesome scenic drive to get there.
>>
The only time I've ever seen an RO have to take action at the range I use is when a guy put his eyepro on his forehead. Attendees are pretty decent in my experience, I've never seen anyone flag other lanes or engage in any other kind of retardation, but I do try to go during the slow hours.
>>
My range is state run and it's super cheap, but it has some annoying rules:

no rapid fire
no human shaped targets
can only load magazines with 10 rounds
>>
>>30410031
That's so you cucks that don't into rapid fire aren't blasting apart target holders, shooting over berms, or peppering people with bullet fragments because you can't hit a target with a double tap. Makes perfect sense to people who aren't total fucking gun noobs.

Pistol range is load a full mag.

>>30410270
>1 second between shots
>doesn't even let you practice a concealed-carry situation

My range, when I'm not at a family friend house in the country, just says "no mag dumping", meaning no from the hip firing or being retarded, at their discretion. Pistol firing is for training CCW more than anything, and a single magazine unload on a sillohette should not be frowned upon.

In the country, we do whatever we want regarding lead going downrange. My favorite is blowing a nugget magazine at medium range, with a quick-switch to my pistol approaching the target through two magazines.

I've only been to one indoor range that has an electronic rail system that brings your targets back to you. Is this not common? Besides the range cleaning past the firing line after they close, why would you EVER need to go down there?

I would think it false. I shoot in flat farmland all the time with literally miles of flat backstop. The longest ricochets come from shooting close, say 50-200 yards. When you're shooting longer ranges there seem to be fewer bounces(puffs of dust where the bullet is ricocheting to a stop). I haven't noticed any difference between fmj or hp/sp. They all tend to stop in a mile to a mile and a half. And yes, there is nothing to hit for 4 miles from where I shoot.

I typically don't go to ranges with fudd rules; most are just "approved zones" within state public hunting areas.
Only indoor range I use has fairly standard rules, and I only use it when I get the little "free range time" card when I buy another gun.

The outdoor state land range I frequent made it on the local news though. Some angry homeowners (from about 2 miles away in the opposite direction of fire) claimed they found projectiles in their yard and wanted the range to be shut down. Picture on the news station website reminded me of pic related.
Showed pristine bullets held in the palm of someone's hand; looked like they were either pulled from unfired cases or bought for reloading.

There's even a sign at the range stating "do not fire towards the northwest" and the backstops are positioned to the east. Only way that could occur would be for some retard to turn directly around and fire into the air, over the trees, over every other home, travel 1.5-2.5 miles, AND be coincidentally land a handful of shots in one persons yard.

I live in one of the most affluent areas of the country, but am broke, and the memberships to some of the higher end ranges are insane here

one i was looking at has a $5000 a year annual fee

thats the basic package, they go up to $1500 and there are lifetime family packages that are something like 50,000 and they might even go higher than that, I'm trying to find the website, if i do ill post the link

It isnt very hard if you dont have a criminal or mental health record.

For Cat AB all you have to do is join a club like SSAA for your genuine reason and do the mandatory safety course. Fill in the form and pay your license fees.

28 days waiting period on your first permit to acquire when you go to get a gun. Have to have a safe as well.

Uf you want get Kik and talk to Marpatcat about beind added to the Australian commando group.

Or if you want to talk to me directly message varagner.

rapid fire is one of the few that are actually understandable. the amount of patches in the berms at my local range are ridiculous and ive personally witnessed niggers managing to hit them while slow firing (usually from the hip). i could only imagine if they were allowed to unload as fast as they can.
>>
>>30417105
I think it's supposed to be if some fucktard has a full auto firearm, they are supposed to call the ATF to shoot your dog. Since most idiots can't tell the difference between full auto and just pulling the trigger fast, they prefer you clear it up for them. It's also cause there are idiots who will bump fire so hard and badly that they nearly turn and spray the firing line.

From car, to the bench.
I live in a state with said range, in which a firearm loaded during transportation is illegal.
Who are these people >implying about their own patrons?
Also first range mandatory orientation and leaflet.

Rapid fire is not retarded. Firing from the hip is retarded. I've seen guys bring bump fire stocks in to the range and the RSOs are fine with it. As long as you are aiming at your target.

I'd love to hear the rule that caused suppressors to be NOT allowed.

PA is a mixed bag. Shooting on public land is illegal; but the public shooting ranges are... ok,ish. largest one in the state is only 10 minutes away. Generally well maintained.

3 round limit on the rifle range is frustrating but sorta makes sense due to the sheer number of fudds in the state, and just how packed that range gets on the weekends. during the week, you can literally be there the entire afternoon and only see one or two people.

Oh and the retired postal worker guy who pretty much goes around stealing spent cases but that's another story. I'm still not sure if he's the RO or what.

There's some indoor ranges and private clubs around but i'd really like to own some land so I could set up a 500 / 1000 yrd range of some kind. Scotia maxes out at 200.
>>
>>30420488
That was poor wording. Suppressors are allowed and there isn't a one bullet rule.
